This extra admits the truth . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . that most of the scene in the 10th James Bond film from Eon Production Company, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (set near the Great Pyramids of Egypt during the nightly "light show" with narration) ACTUALLY was filmed on a sound stage near London, England. Today's viewers, used to the clarity of digital movies on the "big screen" and high-definition TV, would not be fooled for a second by this bit of Bond Fakery, or many other set pieces in the first 15 or 20 Agent 007 films. However, to the less sophisticated people who populated Earth in the 1900s, this scene and the many other Bond "highlights" featuring pulled punches and cheesy "special effects" probably seemed like the "cat's meow." Anachronists may yearn for the quaint entertainments of yesteryear, but the modern movie goer is thankful that we now have franchises such as HARRY POTTER and TRANSFORMERS to put a capital "R" into "realistic film effects"!
