. . . they'd look very much like Ken Adam's "production films." Minimally edited "behind the scenes" footage of the seven Bond films for which Mr. Adam served as production designer (these were among the first 11 Bond titles released overall by Eon Production Company), Mr. Adam narrates these brief segments from a perspective of decades after the fact. His recollections, therefore, are sometimes just as stumbling and homey as Granddad's recounting of his honeymoon at Niagara Falls 60 years ago. However, since this is Bond that Mr. Adam is talking about, and since he was a key component of several of the seminal early Agent 007 adventures (including the first, DR. NO, 1962), these production films are a little more riveting than Grandpa getting wet below the falls, and drying off in the wax museum. It turns out that Mr. Adam sort of acted as a location scout for THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, working closely with producer Albert R. Broccoli. (Don't join the many people who confuse the Swedish-accented Maud Adams, one of Roger Moore's co-stars in THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, who narrates many of the "Exotic Locations" segments on the Bond DVD's, with Ken's wife, Letitza Adam, singular surname, who appears at one point in this documentary short).
