"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" lives up to its title by placing a lot of focus on the clone troopers themselves. Some of the characters, like Commander Cody and Commander Bly, were inherited from the "Star Wars" prequel films. The show used the idea that clones had nicknames (instead of only serial numbers) and ran with it, creating many other clones -- including Captain Rex -- with custom names and armor to convey individuality.
One of the more striking clone looks is Commander Doom, who appears only briefly in the "Clone Wars" season 6 premiere "The Unknown." That name isn't an accident; the "Star Wars" website confirms that the creators named Doom after Marvel Comics villain Doctor Victor Von Doom. While Commander Doom gets too little screen time to see if he has the ego of his namesake, the creators used Doctor Doom's design to color his armor.

After launching a new Scarlet Spider ongoing series with writer Christopher Yost and a team-up with Jonathan Hickman during his critically acclaimed Fantastic Four run, artist Ryan Stegman is now facing perhaps his greatest challenge yet. Next January will see the release of issues #1 and #2 of Dan Slott's The Superior Spider-Man and it is Stegman who will be providing his incredible artwork for both those and the third instalment the following month. When plot details for Amazing Spider-Man #700 were leaked, they were understandably met with a great deal of upset and scepticism from fans. However, now that the issue has actually gone on sale, the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive (as you can see from my 5* review by clicking Here). Regardless, with a bold new status quo now firmly established, it falls to Slott and Stegman to continue the story of the new Spider-Man. The latter was...

Christopher Yost has become a famous name in the comic book world, working on animated television shows such as Wolverine And The X-Men, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes. At the moment, he writes Scarlet Spider, which recently took place in the Minimum Carnage comic event. Yost will very soon take over Avenging Spider-Man, so keep on a lookout for that book. A while back, Christopher Yost agreed to answer some questions on the creation of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Scarlet Spider and much more. In the beginning, how did you and the rest of the team set the tone that Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes would have? Did you ever try for a darker approach? Never! The Avengers was never about 'dark,' and we had no interest in doing that anyway - especially after coming off Wolverine and the X-Men, a show which while we loved,...

USA Today have revealed our first look at The Superior Spider-Man. The relaunched series will replace The Amazing Spider-Man after issue #700 hits stands on December 26th. Whatever happens in that landmark issue will result in a very new direction for Peter Parker, with the site describing it as, "a far darker Spider-Man than fans have ever seen." "The one thing that does not go with this Spider-Man is the term 'Friendly neighborhood,'" says series writer Dan Slott. "I've always been the omniscient hand that's been protecting Peter Parker and Spider-Man, and not letting anything too bad happen to him. And now I've become this cruel god. There's something exciting about that, about going, 'Mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha, here is what's going to happen to you, Spider-Man!' And it's drastic and it's big and it's exciting and it's never been done before." As well as Humberto Ramos and Giuseppe Camuncoli, Fantastic Four...

I don’t own a single Spider-Man comic. Wait, scratch that. I own some painted comic released in the mid-aughts… Secret War. Didn’t care for it.
That being said, I love Spider-Man. I loved his cartoon in the 90s. I loved the Sensational Spider-Man cartoon even more. I owned Maximum Carnage for the Super Nintendo. I played about 8000 hours worth of Spider-Man 2 for the original Xbox. So, with all the love I have for the character, why don’t I subscribe to a single web-headed book? Well, consider it a barrier to entry. Never found the right jumping on point.
Until now. Dan Slott’s upcoming in-book epic “Ends of the Earth” looks to be as good a point as ever to jump on. Given my recent love affair with the Fantastic Four… I figure why not roll the dice on the House of Mouse one more time.

An epic week of character reveals concludes this week with "The Dark Knight Rises" rolling out its first pic Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Her long hair may have rubbed a few people the wrong way, but Jamie McKelvie is optimistic. Chuck Bb? Not so much.
In other tweets, Jim Lee sounded pleased with Henry Cavill's first public Superman still. His perspective, a defense of Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man switch-up, and a Wonder Woman TV pilot review made today's recap.
I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for August 5, 2011.
Catwoman pt. 1: @McKelvie Anyone consider that maybe that shot of Selina Kyle is from *before* she's properly Catwoman?

1:25 Pm Pst: Cbr has learned that McDuffie died from complications due to a surgical procedure performed Monday evening.
I didn’t find out about this until close to midnight last night and yelled out in sheer horror. It really threw me for a loop. Like S&A commenter Skyvolt said in the previous McDuffie post, he didn’t cry about lack of Black characters, he did something about it. Weird, I was just watching All-Star Superman yesterday and was looking forward to the new Static monthly book (though not written by him) to come out in a few months. Man, I’m still shocked, no dumb pun intended. Only Jam Master J’s passing threw me for more of a wallop.

Welcome to another edition of The Pull List Comic Reviews! The fall of the Hulks begins, Mogo dishes out his brand of justice and both Geo-Force and the Sentry lose their marbles. As always, Warning: Spoilers Ahead.
Pull Of The Week:
Dark Avengers #13
Marvel Comics – $3.99 Us
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Mike Deodato
Score: 8.5/10
The Marvel Universe has seen better days. While the disassembling of Earth’s mightiest heroes led to the breakout of a civil war, a secret invasion became the catalyst to Norman Osborn’s dark reign, and with the siege of Asgard on the horizon, surely things couldn’t get worse (see what I did there?), could it? The Sentry’s true origin is revealed, answering once and for all that, yes, things can get worse…much worse.
Just when I thought all the pieces were on the table, Brian Michael Bendis takes the much-maligned Sentry and turns him loose.

While we have seen superhero teams on screen before in X-Men and Fantastic Four, we've not yet seen several heroes crossing over from their own films into one ensemble movie.
This will happen in The Avengers, the 2012 Marvel Studios team-up movie bringing together Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and possibly Hawkeye, Edward Norton's Hulk, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and others.
Staff at Marvel Comics are excited to see how the concept of uniting all those characters will work on the big screen.
In an interview with Newsarama, several of them have given their views on the Avengers film.
Writer Brian Michael Bendis, who for five years has been the 'architect' of the Avengers comic, is part of the creative committee that consults on movies in development at Marvel Studios, including The Avengers.

Marvel Comics sent out a press release this morning announcing that production has begun on a new animated series, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
