At the Stuart-Douglas debate, a man holds up a sign that reads, "Joseph Smith and his people will not be forgot," a reference to the murder of Mormon founder Joseph Smith and the subsequent exodus out of Nauvoo, Illinois by the Latter-day Saints. However, the events of this program take place in 1838, six years prior to the 1844 murder of Smith.
