Maybe the finest CSI episode of all
Hzle20 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I'm just watching series 7 again. I know what happens, I know this isn't the last word on the miniature killer...

...but I was still spellbound. This episode contains so much, it's hard to believe they fit it into a single programme. There is tragedy, comedy, tragicomedy, black humour, horror, mystery, philosophy, suspense.

SPOILER alert

Anyway, there is a surprise confession to the miniature killers. It is both eloquent and painful to watch. There are parts of what the person says that I find myself not-so-secretly agreeing with, in my middle aged cynicism:

"My life's been hard, but I don't complain. I never expected better. ... Spend any amount of time around people, you get your heart broke. Treachery, hypocrisy. Promise of love. Look into the mouth of a person, and you'll find lies wriggling there like maggots waiting to grow wings. The world has gone mad"

And then the chilling last words - with which, of course, I do not sympathise...:

"A man could kill from sunup to sunset, and still his work would never be done"

...but as we learn later in the series, all is not what it seems. Series 7 of CSI is awesome.

The Man Behind The Miniatures Is Found!
ccthemovieman-116 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Well, the man who made all those fantastic miniature crime-scene replicas is finally caught.....and it's actually a bit sad when we see this guy. I agree with "Gil Grissom" who looks at the guy as a pathetic character who got "caught up with the little things" too much and wound up losing his marbles. Gil could relate, being obsessed with bugs.....but Gil is not a killer.

I won't say more than that to anyone who hasn't seen this episode but has seen a few earlier ones which involve this man. He's not seen until this program and it's kind of shock.

Meanwhile, the first crime involves a very bizarre story of circumstances in which a dead woman and her killer are both stuck in cement! Regarding that, we see more evidence how CSI co-star "Catherine Willows" (Marg Helgenberger) has really developed into a hard woman, a cold person. I don't remember her as such the first few years of this program but she's certainly not a very compassionate, nice woman. A good example is in this episode when an older man has an unbelievably horrible day and winds up accidentally killing two people. It's the guy who wound up in cement, which is darkly humorous. Yeah, the guy also was screwy, that's for sure, but laughing hysterically at his predicament over and over, which is what "Catherine" did, is cold. Grissom doesn't see it that way. He feels sorry for the guy, but she thinks something is wrong with her boss. Wow, that shows you where she's coming from. I'm finding it harder and harder to root for that woman.

The men on this show, actually, are the kinder, nicer people. Willows, along with "Sara" and "Sophie" are all kind of hard, come to think of it. Meanwhile, "Grisson," "Nick Stokes" and "Warrick Brown" all genuinely show concern and compassion in many cases - not the women of CSI.

Finally, kudos to Dayton Callie who is riveting as "Ernie Dell."

The Abstract and the Concrete

A great episode grows out of a man, taking his newly dead wife to a construction and attempting to bury her in cement. Unfortunately, he falls in up to his waist right next to her body. There are some hilarious scenes here but Grissom keeps everything from being too happy. The miniature killer appears again. Lots of really acute flashbacks.

The Unlucky Man and the Miniature Crime Scene
claudio_carvalho13 February 2023
A man brings a dead body over his shoulder for a long distance and throw it in a wet cement of a construction site. However, the body does not sink and on the next morning, the man is found trapped, buried to his waist in the cement. Catherine investigates the crime scene and find it hilarious. David Phillips finds that the woman was stabbed once in her chest and the man refuses to give his name. Meanwhile, Warrick and Nick investigate the call of a gas company, who found the body of Alyona Ivanovna in her apartment. The company was called by the residents that smelled a gas leak in her apartment and her head inside the oven. When the team accidentally finds the name of the man, they learn that the murders are connected. Capt. Brass, Grissom, Sara and Greg investigate the death of Raymundo Suarez, who worked at a chicken processing plant owned by Mannleigh Chicken. The foreman tells them that the electrical current was off when the accident happened and Greg and Grissom discuss what might have happened. The team interviews the workers and Mannleight becomes the main suspect since his wife was cheating him with Raymundo. But when Greg finds a miniature crime scene in the room, they change their line of investigation.

"Loco Motives" is an episode with three episodes, two of them entwined. The story of the unlucky Max is tragicomic in every aspect. The miniature of the crime scene of the chicken processing plant is another chapter of the miniature killer. My vote is seven.
