Wrapping up Seinfeld: Time of your life
safenoe18 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I've been a fan of Seinfeld since it debuted in the 1990s and I remember how huge a cultural phenomenal event it was that Seinfeld was wrapping up in May 1998, it was a huge deal, almost on the scale of the series finale of M*A*S*H. It seemed like the whole world wanted to know what was going to happen Jerry and the Scooby Gang, who Jerry admitted were really like a bunch of kids, and they could afford to live in New York City. Anyway, I was kind of disappointed by The Chronical, a clip-show with some out-takes, bloopers, etc, but not because it was a clip show, but because I was expecting a Seinfeld mockumentary, because I remember reading at the time there would be a Seinfeld episode like a mockumentary before the grand finale.

One of the most poignant features of The Chronical was at the end where Green Day's Good Riddance played with clips of the cast and the production team, and seeing the emotion on display, the table reads, the bow to the audience.

A Great Grant Wood Concludes- Whose Buried In Grants Tomb?
DKosty12324 March 2009
This is the second part of the final clip show before the last episode. While folks might just say, ah these are just clip shows, both of them are so much more than that. There is a reason I choose this second part over the first but the both of them are together on the DVD set as 1 program.

What is great about both part of these is that they use clips to review all the major themes of the show. This first part hits the Superman theme that was mentioned more than once during the series. This last part hits my favorite theme.

Jerry Seinfeld, a big Abbott & Costello fan, does a section of this with set photos set to the song "I Hope You've Had The Time of Your Life". To me, this sums up quite nicely Jerry's A&C ties as one of their better films has the same theme. This sequence has a sentiment that to me hits the correct cord for ending the series. In a way, I think these 2 clips shows should have been run after the Finale which followed it.

This was the first time I had ever heard this particular song, but it is exactly right as it illustrates going out at the top. These folks had the time of their life doing this show & they took their audience along for the ride. While they have found some work since they ended this, the fact still remains that for the cast of Seinfeld, this is the time of their lives.

A Full Hour of Fun
Hitchcoc19 June 2023
My goodness, people get so testy. If a compilation episode comes along, don't watch it. It's not as if you were Malcolm MacDowell with your eyes propped open, force to watch. Just skip it. My wife and I just finished watching the entire series from beginning to end over a period of about a year. I don't know when I've had such fun. Obviously, not everything on this look back was of sublime quality, but it brought back memories of some of my favorites. The four principle characters were so much fun to watch (along with Newman), and while they were often rude and sexist and outrageous, it was always done with style. I am amazed at the anger people direct toward forms of entertainment which is always an option to watch.

I hate clip show episodes
chunkylefunga18 December 2021
What a waste of 45 minutes.

Nobody likes seeing clip show episodes, they are always boring and just annoys the viewer.

And who the hell makes it a double episode just before the finale. Surely Jerry and Larry had it in them to make 2 proper episodes? Talk about walking it in.

Such a shame this episode was every made and just embarrassing that it took up the space of 2 episodes just before the finale.

Not a Big Fan of Compilation Episodes
Samuel-Shovel16 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
In "The Chronicle" the show looks back at some of its brighter moments.

I'm not a big fan of clip show episodes. Not because I don't enjoy a nice compilation, but because with only two episodes left of this fantastic series, they waste one reusing material I can already watch whenever I want. I love all these clips but I would have preferred some original content!

I did like the inclusion of the blooper reel towards the end though. That had me in stitches. Frank always makes me laugh.

Filler junk episode
onemorepizza24 April 2021
When you watch season 9 you fully understand that Jerry Seinfeld's heart just wasn't into the show anymore. After Larry David left Seinfeld had to try to run the show on his own and season 8 reflects his uncertainty with a lot of hit and misses where he's trying to find his voice, Seinfeld has commented how he wasn't sure he could even do the show without Larry, when you get to season 9 you can tell it just ran its course with him and he wasn't interested anymore. This clip show episode is evidence of that, rather than write two episodes for the season they mailed it in with a clip show, something that would never happen today because fans would go insane.

Whole series review
ThunderKing625 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Go checkout my original Seinfeld review from over 2-3 years ago on the shows page I'm a prolific reviewer. I had nothing but praise for the show until...

Once upon a time I binged Seinfeld for 8 years straight. I woke up to Seinfeld and fell asleep to Seinfeld. I was so obsessed that I would record audio of Seinfeld and upload it to my ipod/iPhone 4 and listen as I traveled to my destination.

Then after years after taking a break from bingeing Seinfeld I finally copped the DVD. I was so excited.

On first watch In years couldn't binge as I did and was forced to give up on the show.

Fast forward I attempted to binge the show once more and I did well but my new impression of the show was Not pleasant.

Either the show didn't age well or I've grown up.

The show felt stupid, "cringe" and annoying. How could I feel this way after binging this show for a decade?

What was the show about?: 4 People in New York go through mishaps as they date, live, eat and work.

Jerry is the main of the show. All of his friends always come to him to spill out their annoying problems. In the episode "the Tape" late at night all 3 randomly show up to Jerry to spill out their confession and display their antics.

Jerry is the sarcastic, easy living comedian. He is a good character. I have no issue with him except his stand up all of sudden didn't feel funny anymore. Every time I use to listen to it I would always say "it's still funny"... Not anymore. Also, I hated the way he dressed. It was so tacky.

Kramer and the freeloading neighbour. He didn't work, he pretty much ate out of Jerry's fridge the whole show. Many people like him but on my present watch I found him unfunny, forced and foolish. His stupid physical comedy had no effect on me. It seemed so forced. I thought the seizure movement was funny though. I wish Kramer stayed in the apartment the whole show it would have brought mystery. But Michael had to complian and he became an eye roller. His story's were uninteresting and forced. His outfits were the best of the 4.

George. The most relatable and funny of the 4. Seinfeld became a George show. By season 4 George was carrying the show.

A fun character because he is so broken and successful at the same time but doesn't know how to handle it. My only beef in later seasons he yelled too much. It was annoying. He dressed meh okay. Overall the best character of the series.

Then there is Elaine. She started out with a cute doll face and a sweet heart. Then she became so meh looking and a Bword.

93% of Her stories were hash and uninteresting. She's another one that complained for. More screen time and dug herself Into a hole Because her character was hash. I don't care who likes her or if she was successful. Other opinions are irrelevant to me. It's like a fly vs superman. I am superman your opinion is a fly. You like trash while I'm trying to save you.

Anyways... Horrible character always angry and rude. She dressed casually ok. She could have showed more skin though that may have changed my perception of her. Oh well.

Honourable mention: Newman, George and Jerry's parents, the hot girlfriends, 1 time guests, Cohan, the extras, all the actors that came to life and passed on.

Overall an eye rolling show. Best seasons were season 1 to 6. Season 7 was okayish and the rest were awful with rare gems.

The dating storylines were a draw but many of them were wasteful. It does have its moments but looking at this show today this show is a waste of time. I'm not going to fully Bash this show and say it's overrated. Nah it was a unique show that couldn't age well. Currently I've yet to binge all episodes because I grew sick of this show.

The show may look like hash now though I still respect it for allowing to distract me for a decade.

Verdict: The show Doesn't age well. Enjoy it in your prime watch.

As for the finale it was okay. Not bad but it felt like they were not trying.
