Don't stare too close at your TV while watching the Tim & Eric Awesome Show... You might see a part of TV you try to avoid. Worse yet, you might laugh at it, and not understand why...

This show is the first highly specific 10-minute jab at the cable/public access TV parody & relies on heavily subversive & confrontational humor. Tim & Eric's breed of improv is more thematically constructed than average, which lends it to break out & resemble sketch more often than not.

But the genius is that the show's structure is just a playhouse for the obscene dramedy that inadvertently gets put on broadcast, much like an out-of-control public access TV channel. Inspired hilarity, featuring some of today's best sub level comedians working in a very large creative space.

The natural progression of Tom Goes to the Mayor, and something very new & differently funny.

being a huge tom goes to the mayor fan, i had extremely high hopes for this show since it was coming from the dudes who were responsible for putting out in my opinion the best show on adult swim. like tom goes to the mayor, this show will probably be extremely polarizing. that's just how tim and eric's humor goes. OK, on to the awesome show (which is appropriately titled) the premiere episode did not fail to make me almost die of laughter. its a 15 minute sketch comedy show. thats really the only way i can describe the show. it definitely has a mr.show feel to it, obviously with the odenkirk connection. one of the good things about a 15 minute sketch comedy show, is the sketches have to be fairly short (so if there's one you don't like, that's OK.) that said, i pretty much liked every sketch the show had to offer. no pop culture referrenced humor, which is very refreshing for a sketch comedy show. (see mad TV, robot chicken, snl) so yeah, very very impressed and i will continue to watch it

Great if you're into this genre of comedy

If your a fan of Adult Swim, then you are probably a fan of alternative sorts of comedy or cartoons. "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job" is probably one of the oddest, most-out there comedy shows on this network. But saying that doesn't mean it's bad at all, it's just different. I'd say that most people wouldn't understand or find it amusing, but for the few that do, this show hits the spot. Some skits include extreme hacky-sack, the "Only Married News Team," "Uncle Muscle's Hour," and several miscellaneous skits. From the random to the just bazaar, "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job" is a comedic, extra -terrestrial trip. I believe everyone should at least try to watch it sometime, if you're awake on Sunday night, that is...

Short-Attention Span Sketch Comedy From the Future And Beyond!

"Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!" picks up the torch that Bob Odenkirk and David Cross dropped when their cutting edge sketch comedy show "Mr. Show" was cancelled after four whirlwind seasons on HBO. Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, previously the inventive minds behind "Tom Goes to the Mayor", took that torch and set the concept of sketch comedy ablaze.

As a genre, sketch comedy has been stagnant for a number of years. MAD TV is horribly unfunny and garish. Saturday Night Live, once brilliant, is now all but completely unwatchable. Several easily forgotten sketch shows have come and gone in the meantime. Gone is the biting social satire of Monty Python and the Dave Chapelle Show.

"Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!" attempts to shock life back into the comatose art of sketch comedy with rapid-fire edits, grotesquely memorable characters and crude animation bits all wrapped up neatly in about 11 minutes. It is as if the show's creators have taken every bad public access television cliché of the past 20 years and tossed them mumblety-peg into the editing room. The sketches seem ill-conceived and hastily thrown together, as if the show is literally produced just minutes before it airs. Many of the skits lack a clear punchline or point, which is perhaps Tim and Eric's greatest feat of all.

The show is actually well scripted and rehearsed. Characters are conceived then fleshed out. The comic timing, in most cases, is painstakingly perfected. By the time the credits roll, one might be unsure of what they've seen or if it was even funny and that seems to be Tim and Eric's point: The joke is on you, audience! Andy Kaufman pulled similar pranks in his stand-up shows. It was nearly two decades before the majority of comedy fans came to realize how brilliant a comedian Andy Kaufman was.

As taught by Mr. Kaufman, the only dangerous aspect of comedy like this is that it tends to disorient, confuse, and annoy. It is not immediately apparent that the slipshod manner of each episode's assembly is all part of the gag. "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!" has broken the monotony of formulaic sketch shows by using herky-jerky editing to great comedic effect. In that, Tim and Eric, like Mr. Kaufman, may be way ahead of their time. No doubt, advertisers are already taking note and will begin showing commercials in a very similar style within the next few months.

"Tom Goes To The Mayor" had the most evenly divided audience of any show in the Adult Swim line-up. "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job" seems to be quickly following suit in avoiding viewer apathy which means Tim and Eric (and co-writer/editor DJ Dougg Pound) must be doing something right.

Funniest Show on TV

This show is completely hilarious. A totally absurd, insane, bizarre style of humor that is sadly missing from most of TV. There hasn't been anything as gleefully wacked out as this since "Stella", which, in my opinion was the funniest thing on TV when it was on. Luckily, this show is garnering a huge cult following and not tanking in the ratings department. This show is alternately disorienting, disturbing, brilliant, hilarious to the point of near pants peeing and sometimes its all these things at once. There humor is polarizing, but I'd say most of the people I've introduced it to love it, with a small minority being not into it. I can't praise it enough. In this age of lame, extremely predictable comedy, Tim And Eric are twin harbingers of fresh air. Am I at 10 lines yet? Yep. Anyway, best comedy on TV and please keep it up!

Great Job, Indeed!

There's no accounting for taste, and this show you'll either love to bits, or be stuck forever in "WTF" mode. I do sympathize with the WTF crowd, truly, but honestly I don't understand the level of vitriol. Let's all just admit to differences in taste, eh? The fact is, this show is exactly the way the creators want it. I don't in general like to condescend to non-fans by saying "you just don't get it". But truly, this is the one thing you should "get" before you criticize the show: It is what it is, and it's not too complicated. It's all right there in front of you.

Beyond that, it's all up to personal aesthetics. You don't like it? Fine! Me? I love it! I can't get enough of it! It makes me laugh my ass off every single time. I don't always know how to articulate what it is about it, but it just dovetails perfectly with my (and my friends') sense of humor. There's a through-line of sarcasm from beginning to end. Sarcasm not just with individual comments or ideas, but with the structure of "sketch" comedy shows in general, and a vast array of kitschy cultural threads.

Shoot, I crack up just seeing the faces Tim and Eric pull when they're grinning idiotically into the camera for long awkward stretches. That's another good word: awkward. There's a lot of awkward stuff in this show, and that's part of its bread and butter! For that reason, it rings more truthful than most shows on TV, despite its flagrant surreality.

Also, in my opinion, its vibe is a perfect complement to a lot of existing Adult Swim shows: Sealab 2021, Space Ghost, Venture Brothers, Morel Orel, Futurama, Family Guy, Frisky Dingo, Squidbillies, 12 oz mouse, etc etc etc. It more than fits the bill in that great pantheon, no matter how "animated" it is in the conventional sense. Another way I like to look at this particular show is: internet photo-shopped / you-tubed / flash-animated humor brought to your living room! In summary: Pure heroine! I'll be first in line when the inevitable (I hope) DVD box set comes out!

This show gets so much undeserved criticism, mostly from your average viewer who is used to being spoon-fed the setup, the joke, and punchline all in one. These people will be left slack-jawed and drooling as they try to figure out what they just witnessed. It's funny to read these reviews that insult the intelligence of the writing or the maturity of the comedy, when half the people leaving these reviews simply did not (perhaps cannot?) attempt to fathom the nature of the comedic style beyond its surface level.

I'm not trying to say that only smart people can appreciate Tim & Eric-- it certainly isn't a show for everyone. A lot of Awesome Show is directly parodying crappy late-night 90s TV shows & infomercials. And while not everyone may understand that, there are so many 1 star reviews here whose writers clearly didn't have the basic intelligence to realise that there can be things that they don't "get"... and that doesn't make them bad.

If you recognise that nearly all of the show's content is heavily layered in irony and mockery, and that the main intention of Mr Heidecker and Mr Wareheim was just to have a lot of fun while making the show, you might find yourself enjoying it a lot more.

The actual quality of this show's humour is outrageously high. Every second of screentime is packed with jokes upon jokes. From the way the scene glitches into being shown, to the absurd or deadpan way the dialogue is communicated, the recurring themes like dads, eric's unchanging voice (even as a woman) and completely unnecessary and useless products.

There are actors who seem like they were brought off the street (and sometimes literally are), editing effects you'd expect from windows movie maker... The whole show is like one big late-night broadcasting acid trip. And I have never seen anything funnier, aside from maybe other T&E works.

The only issue I have with it is its duration. 10 minute episodes, 10 episodes per season, 5 seasons... the whole show clocks in at around 9 hours total, which is honestly pretty depressing. Thankfully Tim and Eric have worked on several other projects of a similar nature, some of which help fill the void.

Awesome Show remains my favourite show of all time, and my go-to show for a good laugh, for both sobriety and being stoned. Give it a go, keep an open mind. Have a few laughs and enjoy the ride.

When I first came to see the IMDb rating of 7.0 on Tim and Eric Awesome show, Great Job! my jaw hit the floor at why it could have such a low rating in regards to what the show is. Upon further investigation, and reading the reviews, I should have known all along that it would be a situation like this. There would be virtually no average reviews. It is either people who love it, and see it for what it is...which is some of the best comedy out there at the moment, and those who just don't quite "get it".

I don't want to be too patronising (british spelling) and say that the people who don't get it are stupid idiots...which i secretly think ;) but I do think it takes a certain amount of understanding to fully appreciate it. I think that there are several layers, with each layer getting more subtle and intelligent. Many of the people who see this show may only see the first layer, and claim it is base, toilet humour, which some have. This is because this is the easiest layer of the comedy genius to see, and they see it as this, and nothing else. The blatant toilet humour is almost just an exterior, which does have its use, and in many cases is genuinely funny. However those distracted by this will miss the far more intelligent humour that runs beneath. The way it mocks all aspects of television, from the cheesy shows of the last 2 decades, to the contemporary fads and phenomena that you see today. It doesn't just point it to you. some of it is obvious. Some is less obvious. I have found that I find an episode more funny after several viewings. This is a satire of the highest order. It is far from JUST toilet humour. It is supposed to be low budget. That is part of what makes it great. The show doesn't take itself too seriously at all. This show has made me laugh out loud more times than I can remember in a show.

I really like the actors in this show. These people are either the worst actors of all time, or the best actors of all time. I can never be sure, but either way the effect is the same, which is pure hilarity. The humaness, and realness of the actors in the show really makes them a lot more appealing. I freaking hate the fakeness and lack of realness in people in TV these days, but the actors they have in here I can really relate to. Their little nuances, the awkward silences and quirks makes them the most funny and humorous actors on the TV. I especially like David Libre Hart, Quall, Dunn, and all the rest of them that I am starting to recognise. There is a quiet but lovable desperation to it, which makes for some of the best black/dark humour out there...again...its not JUST toilet humour.

This show really is great. I am looking forward to future things from these guys. I think they have got a great formula here. I wouldn't want to see them get stale and stagnant, and of course I would like to see them experiment and push new frontiers, but I sure hope they don't sell out and become too mainstream. That would suck ass. Mad Props to Adult Swim for always taking risks and pushing the boundaries, and not opting for the formulaic mainstream crap thats out there (T & E do an excellent parody of this in season 4, with a sitcom, with canned laughter, and all the cliché mainstream comedy charcteristics. Its one of my favies). Basically, I think this is like classical music. Its one of those things that only the most sophisticated and intelligent people can fully sppreciate, but will never be adopted by the greater populous. Thats just the way I want it to stay.

I must say, that there is some really good comedy coming out of the USA right now, and this is definitely my favourite at the moment. Although I am British, I can still fully appreciate it. I did live in America for about 2 years, and so in a way I can relate to it more in terms of the things like the cable access style editing, and the commercials, etc but I think this stuff would be appreciated anywhere, and is really putting America on the comedy map, and showing that there is some really good cutting edge comedy in America, that isn't all about formulaic sitcoms and laugh tracks.

Don't Understand It? I Completely Sympathize With You

Look, I completely sympathize with people who don't understand why this show is getting a 10/10 rating. I, along with most people, had to be ushered into this form of art. It is a form of art that most people aren't accustomed to. I want to try and make sure you, the reader, see that it is actually a very sophisticated form of art. I want others to like it because I feel understanding all forms of comedy are important and crucial to understanding what makes comedy what it is.

One thing I always tell someone who is unresponsive to T&E is to look at other forms of art that reflect similar goals. To look at Picasso and say it is not a good form of art, or look at the classical pianist Boulez and say he isn't making music is the same as saying T&E is not good comedy. There are many sophisticated, higher forms of art that have a point, but to the untrained eye, look completely bogus and not properly managed.

T&E tends to go one of two ways. One way is to make the watcher feel extremely uncomfortable. This is similar to approaches that amazing shows such as The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Louie take. These shows tend to create awkwardness by using society and it's lack of clarity in order to create a situation we cringe at the thought of being in. T&E do this, but achieve it in a very unique way. They can create awkwardness through disturbing contradictions. This can be seen in sketches such as the obviously-on-steroids bodybuilder talking about becoming a mother, or a very pregnant woman singing an attitude driven song (bub-bubs bounce if anyone is familiar). There are more, but these two skits show what awkward humor T&E are getting at. I cringe at socially awkward situations performed well in other shows, but I actually had to try a few times before making it through some of T&E's awkwardness. They do it best... in the most disturbing way possible.

The other part of their humor (and the two directions they go in are always overlapped), is based off of low budget absurdity that can be found on any small town public access shows. Public access is legally established by the government to give more expressive rights to people. T&E point out that not all the time is this as great of an idea as it sounds. Most of the time it is taken up by weird people such as Casey and his brother or Richard Dunn with any of the talk shows they have given him. Some of them are showing how absurd similar real life experiences are (see the Paynus Brothers sketch and then watch Entertainment Tonight talking with someone like the Jonas Brothers... They are saying something, not just saying "PENIS" and hoping someone laughs). The absurdities are definitely unique, and if they weren't, Nick Swardson's pretend time or all the dozens of other shows that try to approach absurd humor, would be loved by everyone. Those shows lack what T&E established: creativity. Whether you enjoy it or not, most people would agree it is something that they didn't see coming. That, to me, is the definition of creativity. A Absurd humor is difficult to become accustomed to, and much harder to create. Criticizing T&E is just like looking at a piece of artwork by many great artists and saying "It looks like they just threw paint on a canvas and called it art. I can do that!". That's fine, I did that too. It's somewhat of an acquired taste and the rest is just understanding what is good and what is not good on an almost instinctual basis. The only way to specifically demonstrate that is by analyzing it on a frame by frame basis. If any show makes me think something new, does something I don't think I could have done without a lot of hard work, and there is the ability to analyze on a frame by frame basis, I consider it a well made piece of art. T&E does just that. Like I said, I sympathize completely, but I really need to assure you that it does hold value and only on a subjective viewpoint can you learn to love it. No one I know that likes T&E "got it" from the start. If you don't get it, you can with some patience and hard thinking.

I want to preface this by saying that I'm an enjoyer of the absurd. Anything that decides not to conform, a thing a lot of people hate which is clear to me here in a plethora of one star reviews. In a way I understand it, people detest things they don't "get". I also enjoyed Xavier Renegade Angel so judge me how you will. I don't always laugh at this show but I still thoroughly appreciate and enjoy it! It always manages to give me a certain feeling of channel surfing to see whats on. But for all I know maybe I'm the insane one for enjoying what you think is garbage tv. Or maybe at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. I can see both sides of the coin but in my opinion, Awesome Show, Great Job!

Why?

In 2004, I went to Anime Weekend Atlanta. At the convention, Cartoon Network was having a panel on some of the new shows coming out, like IGPX and Tom Goes to the Mayor. To quote mc chris (who was a programming director for Adult Swim) "This is one of the funniest things we've ever seen." So when the show premiered, I watched it. I gave it 3 episodes to not completely suck...and wanted to drive to Williams St. to beat up the entire comedy staff at Adult Swim. Then came this flaming pile.

Look, maybe I don't get it. Maybe it's so funny that it isn't funny. Or maybe not.

It's terrible. How they get people like David Cross, Tenacious D, and various other celebs to do the shows is beyond me. Check the AS message boards and you'll see what I mean. This show is not "avante-garde", it's not "Kaufman-esqe", it's just a joke. It's Tim and Eric's joke on anyone who watches it, and they're laughing. The only good part of this show is the cute busty girl in the episode "Abstinence", and as soon as the faux-porn set-up ends, the shows goes back to a huge vacuous waste of time.

Greatest Show On The Planet

When "Tom Goes to the Mayor" ended, i was sad, because the humor in that show was very unique. So when "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" was announced, i couldn't wait to see what the duo had cooked up this time. Needless to say, it works. The show has no plot and basically parodies everything that people hate, such as infomercials and local commercials. The humor isn't for everyone, it's definitely not "mature" humor by any means. But it's great comedy with perfect timing and just the right amount of annoyance that makes the Awesome Show so great. A good example is a sketch called "Here She Comes" in which "Weird Al" walks elderly women down a wedding aisle where at the end stand Tim and Eric who consistently repeat, "Here she comes..." Guest spots pop up everywhere, mostly from underrated comedians such as Zach Galifinakis (sorry if that was misspelled) in the memorable "Gravy Robbers" sketch. As I said, the show isn't for everyone. But for those who can identify with the humor of Tim and Eric, this show will be your new reason to not smash your TV each week.

Braindead, But Enjoyable

"Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" is probably one of the most notorious shows to air on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block. It gave rise to a great deal of "stoner humor" that now permeates a lot of it's programming. For a long time, I kind of detested it, and I still kind of do. But there are some aspects of the show that are indeed funny. Not to mention others that are just plain awkward, nausea inducing, and borderline strange overall.

Predating Awesome Show was of course "Tom Goes To The Mayor" which follows a lot more of the conventions of situational humor. Sort of makes one wonder what was the drive in creating such a sharp contrast in this very surreal sketch comedy show.

It's enjoyable to some, namely the ones who are somehow under the impression that it's somehow "subtle" and "intelligent" and not on the level of Family Guy in terms of comedic sensibilities. But a big head scratcher for many. Then again, it's best to keep in mind that all humor, even Tim & Eric's brand, is very subjective and open to interpretation

I love adult swim also tom goes to the mayor. But no joke this is the worst show ever put on television. Its not funny.. at all. I have laughed a total of one time, mainly because i was actually watching the whole thing. I have given it so many chances and each time was let down. this show is a joke and anyone who likes it is a clown. this site is also a joke for making me write ten lines of words about this show. so to sum it up i am pro Tim and Eric, except with this show. Its is god awful and is what i imagine watching an abortion would be like. I have it on right now and was so offended at this attempt at comedy that i signed on here to have my views validated only to find some idiot praising this show. Get it together buddy

An Absurd, Comedic Treat

Although this comic gem may just seem like random trash to some people, others, like me, find all sorts of pleasure and entertainment out of this show's absurd style of comedy. It manages to make some nearly die laughing, and others just question the appeal of it all, and I cannot blame people who simply do not get it. Tim and Eric's style isn't for everybody, but I'm glad to see that there's plenty of people who are really into this surrealistic and hilarious show!

While every episode has a basic theme throughout, and a lot of the time even some sort of basic plot structure, it's normally all over the place. It'll mix celebrity cameos with fake commercials with some skits that come across as just plain uncomfortable and unsettling. If you're a newcomer to the show, you must be warned that at times there will be a sketch that will make you CRINGE, whether it's the over exaggerated gross out sound effects or bizarre dialogue, there's definitely plenty here to make anybody feel just plain odd. But it's all just simply part of the journey that is "Tim and Eric, Awesome Show, Great Job!"

The show also has a really satirical edge to it. There's plenty of sketches that are clearly mocking something, whether it be 90's television or even nature shows, they are absolute satirical masters! With all it's intentionally bad green screens, sharp satire, and just flat out uncomfortable scenes, "Tim and Eric, Awesome Show, Great Job" is truly something to behold!

Some funny moments but doesn't convince me

Too much unconvincing hype for this often unconvincingly "groundbreaking" show. It seems like a set of spasmodically rabid fans have too hurriedly coughed out chimerical accolades in something like a prescripted attempt to revere something, anything, but that just isn't worth revering.

Truly, the show is capable of evoking laughter from time to time, such as from the hip hop dance instructor in the gold jump suit's seeming preoccupation with people's dads, and from some good recurring characters such as Dr. Steve Brule and the Skylars. But this quasi-critic doesn't really buy the notion that this show is "actually incredibly complex", you know, despite seeming simplistic and rag-tag on the surface. While it is true that watching scenes over again a few more times one may pick up a few things that one didn't see or realize before, but this does not qualify as "incredibly complex". If many comedy fans accept this as incredibly complex, then they have accepted a very low standard of "excellence" in comedy. I think we deserve, and can in fact get, much better than this.

Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job is just the latest among a long line of po-mo comedy shows compared to Monty Python's Flying Circus (I still think the show the came the closest to Monty Python's excellence is Kids in the Hall, which Tim and Eric can't hold a candle too), and if you've seen all that's come since then, or have a good knowledge of absurdist comedy of all types extending back to the Goons in the1950s/60s, then Tim and Eric become a lot less great, unfortunately for you fans (check out Frank Zappa's albums, for instance, if you like Tim and Eric's surreal humour). It's nonsequiter, absurdist, and surreal nature is at this point actually getting played out. If it is at all new terrain in sketch comedy, the possible innovation would seem to me to be a kind of traumatic element to some of the bits that isn't really comedic at all (unless very darkly comedic). That's the most interesting thing I find about Tim and Eric (beyond the somewhat unusual name of the show). Then again, Wonder Showzen contains that element too, but the styles of comedy in the two shows were both conceived around the same time, I'm guessing. I sense that Tim and Eric might be attempting an evolution in conceptual comedy (think Tom Green or Andy Kaufman). They don't quite succeed in doing this, but they don't exactly fail either.

I'm sometimes forced to wonder if people can tell what is actually trail blazing these days. Whatever is, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job just doesn't seem to fit-for the most part, anyway. And too many ringing accolades from fans too eager for the next big thing doesn't convince me. Just be patient and don't just pelter into a misinformed consensus by a few that has somehow established it as the next big thing. But one can tell this show makes some efforts and attempts to be different. And again, there are some truly funny moments.

Addictive, fresh comedy

Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! The title tells you a fair bit about what you're getting into. Strange, outrageous, but above all very refreshing in a world of mainstream sitcom cliché. After your first watch you will laugh and may not understand the weirdness and general lack of plot, but I guarantee you come back for more. Ridiculous gags and takes on infomercials, everyday nonsense consumer products that will make you feel extremely embarrassed about our capitalist/consumer lifestyles at the same time as make you laugh so hard you'll be gasping for air. You simply must see this show, even if it doesn't seem your thing at first, give it a shot, you will not regret.

Adult Swim has genius minds working for them!

I think that pretty much sums it all up! What more needs to be said? Watch Tim and Eric Awesome Show and laugh it up! Tim and Eric obviously know how funny it is to watch local news teams, commercials, how-to videos, teaching seminars, infomercials, talent shows, and public access channels. It is great watching purposely over-saturated mocks on every topic that is on television today. Television blows today.....so why not poke fun at it?! Tim and Eric made T.V. watchable again! A lot of viewers will not understand what the hell is going on during this program because they have been blinded by awful reality shows that have been shoved down they're throats. You guys have my support!

This show is hilarious. Sure there are a couple misses, but you'll get that with this humor. To the person who called this pathetic and poo poo jokes, and the compared it to Family Guy... maybe if you didn't jump on the Family Guy bandwagon when it was re-aired on Cartoon Network, you would realize how far Family Guy has fallen. That show used to be smart, use clever jokes... now it's like they don't even try, "just like that time..." THEY USE THAT WAY TOO MUCH AND IT'S JUST A WAY TO THROW JOKES INTO THE STORY THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE EPISODE. CHEAP LAUGHS. Anyway, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! is a gem. It is probably an acquired taste, you have to like this humor. It's comedy, it's funny. That's all it's supposed to be. 'Nuff said.

By the way, Family Guy doesn't stray too far from poo poo jokes. Thanks a lot for sullying this shows good name by being the one comment displayed.

Awesome Show, Great Job!

Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job does a great job at producing an awesome show!! The comedy duo create an experience which is uniquely blended with their whacky sense of comedy and absurd style. With visual gags that are self aware and eccentric, the show expands on its jokes in ways that would never be expected. Accompanied by a plethora of guest stars, Tim and Eric always seem to know what beats to play for the funniest outcome. While some jokes don't stand up to the test of time, for the most part, the charm of the pair makes for a show well worth binging. Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job is a load of fun for sketch comedy and consistently created jokes that were far ahead of their time.

To call Tim and Eric's Awesome show good job genius or edgy, is to fall victim to their singularly humorous and successful joke, which is convincing people that their extremely shallow, lazy, transparent act has some merit.

There's nothing innovative here. Tim & Eric are hardly breaking new ground in their show, they are simply taking satire and intentionally subtracting things like timing, characterization, storytelling, insight and humor(essentially all the things that make satire entertaining)in favor of randomness and gratuitous gross out shots.

The show is based on the premise if that the mere act defying conventions while ridiculing them in and of itself is interesting or entertaining. And that is where the show fails because at the end of the day its even more vapid and than the conventions it is trying to satirize.

So you don't "get" Tim and Eric? Good, that's the point.

Awesome Show has more 1 star ratings than just about any other show I could find. But this is okay. Necessary even. Because the humor of Tim and Eric only works if the show itself has positively no redeeming value.

So you hate Tim and Eric? Does your blood boil at the mere mention of the show? Do you seriously question the moral integrity of anyone who enjoys it? Good, now imagine that ALL entertainment is like that. Every TV Show, every song, every movie, every commercial, every video game. Sounds like a nightmare, doesn't it? That's what Awesome Show is, less a show and more of a window into an alternate universe where *everything* is awful. How horrible that must be! Not just that you can't enjoy anything, but that the flaws are just so danged *obvious*! Cinco products are so obviously useless! Steve Brule's advice is so obviously bad! Why can't anyone else see this? Why am I the only one who realizes how terrible this is! Why does Cinco keep selling products, why do people keep tuning in to Back to Squall? This is a dang nightmare! Wake me up, hoagie man!

But it was all just a dream! Sure, there's awful entertainment out there, but great things too. Looking back, its almost funny how anyone could like something so terrible. That anyone could be so stupid as to not realize all the obvious flaws. You laugh, not at the jokes themselves, but at the unspoken implication that the creators sincerely wanted to impress their viewers, and that their viewers sincerely were impressed.

Then you realize that the specific things that make a typical Awesome Show terrible are not too different from the flaws of actual entertainment. How many commercials for gadgets have you seen that serve a purpose so oddly specific that you couldn't imagine anyone needing one? How many "experts" do you hear people rave about, only to find their advice is common sense at best and dangerous at worst? How awful is it to watch a person you admire be interviewed by someone who lacks even the slightest bit of knowledge or interest in what they do?

I'll give one specific example, the "Universe" sketches. I enjoy my pop- science, and today there's more shows about outer space than I know what to do with. Yet so many of them are so severely lacking in any substance. They take a few basic facts that could be taught in minutes and inflate them into an entire show with computer generated images, infograms, and dozens of five second sound-bytes from the same troupe of "well known science persons" that appear on every other science show. After rewatching the Tim and Eric "Universe" sketch, I realized that this is *exactly* the way I see most other shows about space. They take the concept of having nothing to say, but plenty of CGI to say it, and run with it.

Tim and Eric "get" bad entertainment. Awesome Show is everything that is wrong with media taken to its logical conclusion.

Tom goes to the mayor was alright, but this show is the most uninspired piece of crap I have ever seen. There is absolutely no skill or ability shown whatsoever. I even like a lot of things many would consider revolting but this is just moronic. Of all the quality shows Adult Swim could be showing how they picked this thing is beyond me. I mean here let's write a typical sketch together- Tim and Eric meet in a public bathroom and start making out. The next seen Eric is pregnant, they both look sad then go to the grocery and sing about corn. There, another one knocked out. OK or how about a "live" sketch where Eric is on the street wearing a sign saying "Handy Twenty" then when people think he's going to give a H-job he really just wants to give hand shakes- brilliant! Or how about a "Beaver Boys" sketch where a bloated Tim eats shrimp while getting it all over his face for no reason. But wait! It's secretly laced with cocaine and he goes into a feral rage and runs downstairs in the hotel beating elderly men with a large fillet of tuna. It's a gem! Or they do a horrible rap song about corn left in fecal matter while covering them selves in chocolate pudding-WITH REAL CORN IN IT!! How could you not film that!?

Because it sucks that's why.

People tend to think that you have to "have Tim and Eric humor" in order to "understand" T&E. Truth is, a lot of the skits are simply spoofing public access television, corporate videos, educational videos, soap operas, useless commercials for useless products, etc other mediums of television.

I imagine that a lot of people fail to see what it is exactly that they're making fun of.

On that note, give it a try with a little background knowledge in mind, and yes, these guys never break character, so never take them seriously lol. Great show.

Why I appreciate and like this show.

I've been around the block a few times and one thing I have learned to appreciate is originality. In a television-land filled with mediocre humor copy cat shows (As an example, How many Family Guy rips off has there been through the years? American Dad, Cleveland Show, Bob's Burgers, etc. etc. etc.) Whether you like these copy cat shows or not, the fact is they are all the same style of humor. Whether you love the show or hate the show, you can't take away the fact that Tim & Eric Show is attempting to create something original and unusual, which is a very difficult thing to do. It is not the Genius of Chappelle Show, but it is the bizarre mood and weird tone of the show that makes it enjoyable, as opposed to the standard joke & punchline. My biggest suggestion, Don't Judge in the beginning and let the show grow on you and say to yourself when watching, is anyone else doing anything this gonzo, crazy or eccentric on TV? Tim & Eric is like the Doug Stanhope of TV shows. It's not for everyone.
