Ming Hao : [off-screen] When I got off the subway, the platform was empty.
[a shot of Fin, then showing Ken by her, listening to her story; Ming sniffs]
Ming Hao : I was headed for the stairs, and all of a sudden a man grabbed me.
Det. Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : [quietly] Take your time.
Ming Hao : He dragged me behind a pillar.
[shudderingly gasps]
Ming Hao : He bent me down. He put his hand over my mouth.
Det. Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Did you get a look at him.
Ming Hao : Only for a second. He had a bandana around his face. I closed my eyes.
Ken Randall : What did he do?
Ming Hao : He made me tell him I liked it while he did it to me.
[shudderingly gasps]
Ming Hao : Then he started choking me.
Det. Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : What happened next?
Ming Hao : I heard shouting. People yelling "stop." He got up and ran away.
Det. Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Did you see who was shouting?
Ming Hao : No; when I opened my eyes, everyone was gone.
[Ken looks back at his father, slightly shaking his head]
Ken Randall : They must've chased him.
Det. Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : [sincerely] You're doin' good, okay? This is gonna help us catch the guy that hurt you.
Ming Hao : I don't wanna go to court; my parents will find out.
Ken Randall : It's okay, Ming. You're not the first girl at Hudson to get raped.
[quietly sobs in gasps and then gets up]
Ming Hao : [to Fin] I knew I shouldn't have come here. I can't do this.
[turns and retreats as Ken looks at her go and looks back desperately at his father]
Ken Randall : I blew it.
Det. Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : [without emotion] Fix it.
[Ken gets up quickly and exits after Ming; Fin sits, somewhat affected]

Det. Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : [Title card: Hudson University; Alexander Hall; Thursday, December 7] We can't call her house and her cell phone's disconnected.
[walking with Lake and Ken]
Chester Lake : And the only time we can see her is when she's at school.
Ken Randall : That'll be tough; her father's always with her, watching her like a hawk.
Det. Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Well, if he sees us, we're facing a lawsuit.
Chester Lake : Look, can't you get us somewhere we can talk to her in private?
Ken Randall : She's in class right now. I'll go in, say the dean wants to see her.
[walks away to Ming's class; cut to him exiting behind a deer caught in headlights Ming]
Ming Hao : I can't talk to them.
[walks away]
Ken Randall : Please; they have a lead.
Ming Hao : [still walking quickly] My father's waiting for me. Leave me alone.
Ken Randall : Another girl was attacked.
Det. Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Just look at the picture.
Ming Hao : [turns and looks] I know him. That's Oliver Mitsakos. He was a T.A. for Intro to Econ my freshman year.
Chester Lake : [Fin and Lake exchange multiple glances] You have any contact with him outside the classroom?
Ming Hao : He tried to make me come to his office hours, but I wouldn't.
Det. Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Why not?
Ming Hao : He always flirted, but he was aggressive about it.
Chester Lake : Was he ever physical or violent?
Ming Hao : It wasn't like that. Just... really desperate.
[shakes head slightly]
Ming Hao : It creeped me out.
[face shows realization; slightly raises her voice]
Ming Hao : Do you think he did this to me?
-
Roommate : [opens the door with Ken behind her; turns to Ken] Ming locked the bathroom door and won't come out.
Ken Randall : [unaffected] What's wrong?
[walks toward bathroom]
Roommate : I think she was raped.
[both stand still and look at each other for a few seconds and Ken continues to the door, listening for a bit]
Ken Randall : Ming. It's Ken Randall. Are you okay?
[shot to Ming sitting on the bathtub ledge, quietly sobbing, slightly bent down]
Ken Randall : Anything you tell me stays private.
Ming Hao : [voice trembling slightly] This isn't a school problem; I don't need an R.A.
Ken Randall : My dad's a cop.
Ming Hao : [silent for a bit] I'm not going anywhere.
Ken Randall : I'll ask him to come here.
Ming Hao : [slightly more hysterical] No, I don't want anyone to see a policeman at our dorm.
Ken Randall : Ming, I promise. If you talk to my father, he will help you.
[she continues sobbing and Ken continues to look at the direction of the door concernedly]
Ken Randall : Ming.
[the door unlocks and Ming, quietly sobbing opens the door, a few inches, blood running down her nose and her right side of her lower lip either bloody or bruised, and slowly opens the door more, not holding back her sobs]
