Big Screen Stars Making More And More Appearances On CSI
ccthemovieman-118 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
The number of veteran film actors guest-starring in this series is beginning to get impressive. In this episode, Ned Beatty, a very experienced and fantastic actor, guest stars "Dr. Dave," your friendly dentist (who happens to be a serial killer!!).

Beatty is riveting in his role, even though we don't see him until halfway through. That's okay because we have another screen star who makes his entrance, filling in for William Petersen. That is Liev Schreiber, who plays "Michael Keppler." The series star, "Gil Grissom" (Petersen), is back east on a four-week sabbatical and Keppler takes his place. I found him to be interesting, too, in a very low-key way. He's no "Grissom," but I know he's only temporary.

The story involves pretty, innocent "Jane Does" being killed, about once every ten years. This killer is disciplined! Eventually, clues lead to the aging dentist.

Nice Cameos...
Thunderspawn10 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I don't think this is a plot spoiler, but Sandy Martin, the Dental office manager, was also in the early 1st season episode, 'I-15 Murders" as a truck driver...funny, she tells Willows and Keppler that Dr. Dave (Ned Beatty) was out to lunch, and it was 1:15 by her watch, cute. Also, Tom ('Thanks for the ride, lady' hitchhiker in Creepshow 2) Wright, who as Jake Daniels was in the car taking pictures as Nick was asking him q's, was in an early season 2 episode, 'Overload', with Wright as Robert Harris, foreman at a construction site, and Sheriff Mobley's best man at his wedding. I love cameos! Also, give Mike Keppler a break, he is NO Grissom, but even Will Petersen needs a vacation. I think 4 episodes were plenty enough for Grissom to rest1

Dental Records

There's a new guy on the block while Grissom is out of town. He is quiet and mysterious, but seems really insightful and competent. The case involves a young woman who has been murdered, a Jane Doe, who is later identified. This leads to the discovery of two previous Jane Does who have similarities about them. They are from the past, before all the CSI technology was available, including DNA. There was also shoddy police work in their cases and they are buried in pauper's graves. Ned Beatty plays an ancient dentist who may have a connection to these first two women.

Stop the hysteria, Petersen rules but Schreiber's not bad
last_in_the_Q9 March 2007
Stop being hysterical. Yes, Petersen is great, I love Grissom too. Don't'worry, he's not going anywhere. Schreiber did a great job on this episode: It was nice to see him kinda blue, melancholic like he really cared for these girls. He portrayed this feeling very well. I know that Gil is more distant; that's why I like him, for being such a weird robotic genius, quite a character... That's his thing (one of many), he doesn't know quite well how to relate to other human beings. Anyway, Gil's gonna come back, the few episodes we get to see with this guy will be interesting and he'll probably end up dying in such a way that Gil himself will have to figure it all out. It will probably be sad too and you'll feel sorry for him and all. Lighten up and enjoy the small quirks. Somedays is nice to eat something sweet, sometimes something salty, spicy too... it would be boring to eat the same thing everyday, wouldn't it?

Cold Cases, Old Dentist

When a young woman is found dead in an abandoned area, Catherine investigates the crime scene. Soon Grissom's CSI replacement Mike Keppler, from Baltimore, arrives to help her to look for evidences, but is careless and touches the victim's hair. They do not find any belongings or ID of the victim. They proceed the investigation and using her fingerprints in the missing people database, the identify her as Veronica Sorenson. Keppler believes the killer has done it before and using Veronica's characteristics in the database, they find three cold cases from 1975, 1989 and 1999. Now Catherine, Keppler, Sara and Nick revisit the cases to see if the old evidences may be used in their state-of-art equipment and provide new leads.

"Sweet Jane" is another great episode of "CSI", with a sad story. The criminal is a heartless man and the Jane Does stay will be forever, with no closure for the families. The mysterious Mike Keppler is an intriguing character, who seems to be competent and dedicated to the work. The soundtrack with versions of "Sweet Jane" by Cowboy Junkies and The Velvet Underground is another plus for the fans of these bands. My vote is eight.

Bring back Grissom!
berneathy18 January 2007
CSI has been my favorite show since it first aired. The plots are interesting, but the element that keeps me coming back every week is the chemistry among the diverse characters. The keystone character is Grissom. I hope he is only on a vacation, because the show falls flat without him. The chemistry is less than that between me and my ex-husband.

The writers err in their assumption that they can make the new guy...Kessler?....interesting to viewers by giving him a mystery. Because he has all the appeal of a featureless cardboard cutout, I don't care why somebody is trying to get hold of him.

Please bring back Grissom! SOON!

Grissom gone on CSI; Crime Scene Investigations!!
yjnairn2 February 2007
I have watched CSI: Crime Scene Investigations from the start, along with a lot of other people here in Canada. It is the best show on TV with Grissom in it. If Grissom is really off the show then I won't be watching anymore and neither will my friends and millions of others who made the show #1 for so many years. He is the glue that binds it all together. This "new guy" is a joke. It looks like they tried to get a man who resembles Grissom and failed. If William Peterson is wanting to leave the show, I bet he will still be the Executive Producer and will not want to lose the millions and millions of fans of the show. Please bring Grissom back and lets get on with the best show on TV bar none!! Y. Nairn
