As a "sneak preview," 007 IN RIO . . .

. . . satisfies its basic duties of providing the who, what, when, and how (if not the why). Made up at least 50% of clips from the finished film, 007 IN RIO features interview snippets with MOONRAKER producer Albert R. Broccoli and director Lewis Gilbert. Lead actress Lois Chiles ("Honey Goodhead") also is allowed to put in her two cents' worth as to whether the James Bond movie franchise has remained a bastion of male chauvinism or changed to reflect times of "Women's Liberation." Though Lois gives lip service to the latter state of affairs existing, her comments elsewhere proclaiming her pride in being given one of the more "obscene" character names in a long string of "naughty" Bond monikers for "hot" young female cast members belies her answer here. The "establishing shots" for 007 IN RIO mostly feature the sort of "T&A" jiggles capable of "exciting" 10-year-old boys, filmed either during Carnival or on Rio's infamous beaches. Fortunately for America, the Bond franchise has gotten much tamer in recent outings, reflecting its status as Grandpa's hand-me-down.
