This archival footage explains . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . how the "James Bond phenomenon" was so hot by 1965 that buddies of the series producers would ask for out-takes of battle scene blocking exercises for cross-promotional purposes. Such is the case with the 169 seconds of footage shown here, which is about as exciting as watching Chicago Cubs baseball. Snippets are shown of teams of guys in black wetsuits and orange wetsuits swimming around in what is obviously a movie studio water tank. The men in black must be the "bad guys," since they're wearing black. Occasionally spear guns are fired, and mini submersible watercraft are pushed around (though the nuclear warheads and old shipwreck of the final THUNDERBALL cut are nowhere to be seen). Apparently, it did not take much to thrill boat show attendees in the 1960s. Since today's media is peppered with "exclusive first looks" which are seldom "exclusive" or "first," THUNDERBALL BOAT SHOW PROMO simply serves as further proof that Civilization's rate of Evolution has slowed to a crawl. In case you cannot lay hands on this infomercial yourself, I think the orange team wins this scrimmage.
