Dave Reda is a filmmaker who has this cool new horror/comedy short out called “Horror of Our Love” and it’s totally great and one of the most original shorts I’ve seen as of late. Check out my latest Versus with writer, director, producer, actor and all around cool-ass zombie guy Dave Reda. Click here to watch "Horror of Our Love".
Brian S- Hey Dave, first off how did you get into filmmaking?
Dave Reda- I had always wanted to be an actor, and wanted to do more... I knew a bunch of my actor friends that were incredibly talented that were also wanting more work. So, I created my sketch comedy show Click This!, and it turned into a 3 year crash course in film making. I had to learn how to direct, produce, and write as our show mocked every genre and style.. It was a lot of fun,...

Writer/director/actor Dave Reda has made a name for himself over the last few years with his indie genre projects including Bit Parts and his most recent effort, Horror of Our Love (which screened recently as part of the Los Angeles Comedy Festival).
We recently caught up with Reda (of Elfwtin Fillms) to find out what his top five indie genre projects are. Check them out below!
1. Hate* (*A Comedy) (Drew Daywalt and David Schneider)
This is one of my most favorite short films... A deadly vengeful speaking chicken and poison chimichangas?? This one is so well made and a total blast. Drew also is the director of the insane short film Polydeus, which is a crazy film centered around an 80's video game. The make-up on the creature is fantastic, too.
2. Death In Charge (Devi Snively)
This is such a cool short film, very well made, and an unusual Grim Reaper.

As if getting to meet icons of the horror genre such as Katt Shea (Stripped to Kill, The Rage: Carrie II), Tara Cardinal (Song of the Shattered, Delivery), Kevin Tenney (Night of the Demons, Witchboard), Dave Reda (Bit Parts) and Stacy Title (Hood of Horror) wasn't enough while at Bleedfest, you'll also be in store for the Us premier of
Slaughtered
Everyone's getting slaughtered in the pub tonight!
Slaughtered is a classic slasher horror, backed by a love story and set in an outback pub. It is simple and savage, but with a unique twist. Slaughtered is an independent horror film that combines love, horror and gore in a slasher style narrative. The story follows a masked killer who stalks an isolated pub in a small town known as Sutton Forest. The body count rises as night falls, slowly eliminating who the killer might be and leaving the remaining few to fight to stay alive.

As the old adage goes, good things come in small packages, so here at Dread Central we're always on the lookout for standout short films that deliver the goods, and this weekend we found one: Elftwin Films' "Horror of Our Love", a romantic horror comedy that twists the normal love story back until it breaks!
Producer/director/actor Dave Reda (Bit Parts, review here) sent over a copy of "Hool" for us to see, and while he wants to keep most of the details under wraps for a bit while he submits the combination short film/music video to most of the major genre film fests, he did provide us with a still along with a couple of behind-the-scenes photos. For more, including a video of outtakes, be sure to befriend Dave Reda on Facebook, and hit up the Elftwin Films website, too, while you're at it.

The Dark Woods is more of a sexual thriller than a horror movie, but I thought some of our readers might find the trailer interesting. I know I did! It stars James Russo and Tracy Coogan, and it was directed by Bit Parts director Michael Escobedo. A young couple moves to a secluded cabin in the woods to cope with a terminal illness. After rescuing a young girl from the abusive hands of her psychotic uncle he is coerced by local law enforcement to allow the young girl to stay with them. As the illness consumes his wife and Henry struggles with his own human connections, the young girl attempts to claim her place in their home. Henry must rediscover his humanity and choose between his increasingly erratic and sexually explorative new housemate and his horrifically deteriorating wife.
