Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (TV Series)
Loophole (2007)
Ice-T: Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola
Quotes
-
Detective John Munch : It's not a weapon of mass destruction, it's an experimental pesticide, Milsted used it on those kids like guinea pigs. These videos are observing the long term effect it had on them.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Leave it to the prince of paranoia to kick it up a notch, that's out there even for you.
-
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : They expect an undocumented immigrant woman who barely speaks English to understand all this?
Detective Olivia Benson : No way, it's written in such legalese I barely get it.
-
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : [to the Waxman as he's cleaning out his ears] You gotta do that in front of us?
Raymond Nesbitt : I have a cerumen problem.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : You're gonna have a face problem if you don't stop.
-
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : [to the Waxman] Look, we don't speak your dialect of crazy, okay?
-
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : [after Seth Milstead is killed in prison] Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
-
Raymond Nesbitt : [to Fin after he gives a little boy a donut] Yo, what are, what are you doing?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Giving the little boy a donut.
Raymond Nesbitt : Why you wanna give the kid a donut?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Why do you have a problem with us giving him a donut?
Raymond Nesbitt : Oh, all right. Cop's best friend.
-
Donald Cragen : I don't buy some burglar risking prison time to be a good samaritan.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : It explains why he made sure we wouldn't find any prints or DNA on the envelope or pictures.
Donald Cragen : Who reported the break-in?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Anonymous caller; payphone four blocks away. Perp probably stopped to eyeball the take he got from Milstead's apartment and saw the pictures.
Donald Cragen : Right, and instead of dumping them into the nearest garbage can, he called the cops.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Well, just because a guy makes a living breaking into people's apartments doesn't mean he likes kiddie porn.
Donald Cragen : Okay, so he pays a kid to deliver the evidence. Why report the crime he committed?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Because he wanted to make sure we'd track those pictures back to Milstead.
Donald Cragen : Well, maybe he should've given us a little bit more to work with, right? Like the address? 'Cause it was just dumb luck we found it. There's no way he could've known those doors were on the memory card.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Why take these pictures to begin with?
Detective Olivia Benson : To prove to the city that the work was done. They were installed to save the landlord from a whopping fine.
Donald Cragen : For what?
Detective Olivia Benson : Safety violations. Before last week, there were no doors on the front of the building. There were ten burglaries in the last year.
Donald Cragen : So other than letting the building fall apart, does Milstead have a record?
Detective Olivia Benson : No. No nothing, no priors.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Just means nobody caught him taking his naughty pictures.
-
Donald Cragen : [picking up a discarded package] Anybody belong to this?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : The kid that Cupid knocked down was carryin' that.
Donald Cragen : It's addressed to the Special Victims Unit.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : What is it?
Donald Cragen : [going through the contents] Kiddie porn... memory card from a camera.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : It's a little late for Christmas. Who's playing Santa Claus?
Donald Cragen : Well, it's a secret. Note just says "Please put this sick bastard away."
-
Detective Olivia Benson : The bill was too beat up for the lab to lift any prints.
Donald Cragen : What about the envelope?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Three sets of prints; mine, Munch's, and the delivery boy. No DNA on the glue.
Donald Cragen : Then the informant was smart enough not to lick the flap.
Detective Olivia Benson : Yeah. The only other prints we got came from the photos themselves. The prints are not in the system, but I have a feeling that our anonymous tipster's are.
Donald Cragen : It would explain why he went to so much trouble to stay under the radar. But why not give us the perp's name?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Maybe somebody afraid of the perv doesn't want him to come back on him, like a previous victim.
Detective Olivia Benson : Or the victim is being abused by a family member, somebody else in the family finds the photos, turns them in anonymously to avoid retaliation.
Donald Cragen : After editing out the really nasty ones. There's not one shot of that kid naked or performing a sex act.
Detective Olivia Benson : Maybe that's why he included the memory card. He thought there'd be more pictures on it.
Donald Cragen : TARU called. Nothing more hardcore than these.
Detective Olivia Benson : Well, when I was in Computer Crimes, we used digital image recovery software to restore deleted files. Bet that would work on the memory card.
-
Taylor : What happened?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : You picked the wrong time to get off the elevator. A guy in a PCP rage took you out.
Taylor : Where?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : At my office, Special Victims Unit. Do you remember why you were there?
Taylor : The envelope.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Relax, I got it. Was it yours?
Taylor : No. Some guy on the street gave me fifty bucks to drop it off.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : What'd he look like?
Taylor : He had on some shades and a big winter jacket with the hood up.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : He say why he didn't drop it off himself?
Taylor : No. The guy said Ulysses was the only explanation I needed.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : You still got Ulysses?
Taylor : [taking the bill out of his pocket] Oh, man... I knew it was too good to be true.
-
Donald Cragen : John, does this kid live in the building?
Detective John Munch : Apartment A6. His name is Diego Benitez.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Oh, you're late 'cause you were doing something useful.
Detective John Munch : Yeah, I was showing his picture to the local elementary school principal. Emergency contact is his mother, who's probably serving lunch as we speak.
-
Cupid : I want her now!
Detective Elliot Stabler : Well, you raped her, so I don't think that's gonna happen.
Cupid : She's mine!
[fighting them, he knocks an innocent bystander down]
Cupid : I'm Eros. I loved her.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Somebody help this kid.
Detective John Munch : Why don't we just shoot him?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Much, help the kid!
Cupid : Let me go!
Detective John Munch : [checking on him] He's unconscious. Somebody call EMS.
Cupid : [breaking free] Get off of me!
[he throws a patrol cop aside and picks up a bench]
Donald Cragen : [pulling two other patrol cops back] Watch out. He's high on PCP.
Cupid : [throwing the bench] I'm coming for you, Barbie!
[Stabler hits him on the head with a fire extinguisher]
Cupid : How dare you hit the erotic god of love.
-
Detective Olivia Benson : The reason that we're here is we believe that your son may have been sexually abused.
Jennifer Benitez : By who?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : We're not sure. Are there any adults close to him?
Jennifer Benitez : His teacher and the guy who watches him when I work my other job, but they would never touch him.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Has your son said anything to you, been acting strange lately?
Jennifer Benitez : I'll talk to him. He'll tell me.
Detective Olivia Benson : Actually, it's best if we talk to him.
Jennifer Benitez : No. No, no, no. I swear, I can get my boy help. And when he tells me who's hurting him, I'll make sure he's far away from them. I can handle it...
Detective Olivia Benson : [showing her the pictures they were sent] Now, your son's attacker took these photos. They may already be on the internet. The only way to handle it is for us to arrest him.
Jennifer Benitez : I gotta go.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : [watching her leave] Something's got her spooked.
Detective Olivia Benson : Well, maybe she knows that it's Milstead and she's afraid of him.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Maybe she's doing him and trying to protect him.
Detective Olivia Benson : I didn't get that vibe from her.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : What we didn't get was permission to talk to her son. Now what?
Detective Olivia Benson : Well, we try to find our 911 mystery caller.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Munch should have the tape by now.
-
Detective Olivia Benson : Mr. Milstead, there was a call to 911 two nights ago reporting a burglary to this apartment. Patrol sent two cars.
Seth Milsted : Yeah, and like I told those cops, I was taking out the garbage, I forgot my key ring, and the only way I could back in here was with a crowbar.
Detective Olivia Benson : Well, most people would use a locksmith.
Seth Milsted : What those bloodsuckers charge? It costs less to replace the door.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : I understand exactly how you feel, Mr. Milstead. If you have any more problems, make sure to call us.
Detective Olivia Benson : [leaving] Why'd you pull me out?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Milstead's lying and we got no search warrant.
Detective Olivia Benson : For what?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : For his digital camera. Same make and model took the pictures we got sent. Whoever's been doing those break-ins got more than they bargained for in Milstead's place.
Detective Olivia Benson : Yeah, his kiddie porn. We've got ourselves a burglar with a conscience.
-
TARU Tech Ruben Morales : Program found a couple of JPEG files on your memory card that had been erased.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Naked pictures of the kid?
TARU Tech Ruben Morales : All I saw were a bunch of doors.
Detective Olivia Benson : Doors?
TARU Tech Ruben Morales : Actually, one door, taken from different angles.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Can you blow that up?
TARU Tech Ruben Morales : Sure.
Detective Olivia Benson : [as the pictures scroll through] I don't see an address.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Or the faces of any of the installers.
Detective Olivia Benson : [spotting something] Hold on. Wait. Go back to that last one. Look, the window caught a glimpse of a truck passing by.
TARU Tech Ruben Morales : Let me clear that up.
Detective Olivia Benson : Empoli Bakery.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : No time or date stamp.
TARU Tech Ruben Morales : That's where the EXIF data comes in
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : EXIF?
TARU Tech Ruben Morales : Exchangeable image file; records the date and time an image is taken, and the make and model of the camera. All these images, including the porn, were shot with a PhotoProp 600 digital camera. And that Empoli Bakery truck passed your mystery address last Tuesday afternoon at 1:46.
-
Raymond Nesbitt : About time you people showed up.
Detective Olivia Benson : Somebody call the police?
Raymond Nesbitt : You're here about the break-ins, right? That's why you're here, right?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Yeah, our precinct sent us over.
Raymond Nesbitt : They sent you over to this dump? This place is ridiculous, man. Third time this month somebody broke in. Ridiculous.
Detective Olivia Benson : When was the most recent burglary?
Raymond Nesbitt : I don't know, like, the night before last. How come you guys don't know that?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Well, we're too busy eating. Your super around here?
Raymond Nesbitt : My super? He's in his hole in the basement. His name's Seth Milstead.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Is he on top of what's going on?
Raymond Nesbitt : I don't know if he's on top of it, man, but he was yelling about it, 'cause the crib they busted into last time was his. Ridiculous.
-
Seth Milsted : Don't you people communicate?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : All the time.
Seth Milsted : Yeah, well, then you should already know that nobody broke in here.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : Well, those marks on your door say otherwise. So do some of your tenants.
Seth Milsted : Which tenants?
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : That guy out front, for starters.
Seth Milsted : What? The waxman? He can barely put two words together, he's so strung out.
Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola : You mind if I take a look around?
Seth Milsted : Make it quick.
