Flair beats Hogan!
callanvass24 March 2016
Warning: Spoilers
(01.29.96)

Live from Canton, OH

Your hosts are Eric Bischoff, Steve McMichael & Bobby Heenan

Ric Flair (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs Hulk Hogan (W/Miss Elizabeth)

Ugh! How many times do these two have to face each other? Arn Anderson comes out and forces Elizabeth to give him her shoe. Flair grabs it and hits Hogan in the eye with it to get the surprising pinfall on Hogan. This felt like deja vu to me. There have only been a couple of Flair and Hogan matches that I've enjoyed. They just didn't have the proper chemistry together.

**

The Faces of Fear (Meng & The Barbarian) Vs The Road Warriors

LOD wins after Hawk pins The Barbarian with a flying clothesline from the top. This was shockingly decent! I expected this match to blow chunks, but it ended up being somewhat of a fun tag team match.

**1/4

Kevin Sullivan and Hugh Morrus are with Mean Gene Okerlund in the ring for an interview. Sullivan is upset because Arn Anderson isn't keeping his word about Brian Pillman. Pillman is still being a loose cannon. Anderson chastises Pillman for his immaturity and not being present for Ric Flair's victory. Anderson says if Pillman wants to act like a child, he's gonna teach him some tough love by whipping him with his belt (Yes, seriously) Kevin Sullivan sucker punches Arn Anderson and attacks him, but Pillman doesn't come to Anderson's aid. Arn Anderson plants Hugh Morrus with a DDT, then comes to Pillman's aid. Anderson demands a match with Kevin Sullivan. Pillman says he got Arn Anderson into his mess, and he'll get him out.

Thoughts: Anderson was terrific as the voice of reason, as usual. Despite my dislike for The Dungeon of Doom, this storyline is intriguing.

At Clash of The Champions last week, Madusa ruined Sherri Martel and Col. Parker's wedding. It's believed that Parker was two-timing Sherri with Madusa. Before Gene Okerlund can interview Sherri, Madusa attacks Sherri from behind.

Madusa Vs Sherri Martel

Sherri wins in very sloppy fashion by reversing a body slam off the top into a cradle. Madusa delivers the German suplex to Sherri after the match and beats the crap out of her until officials restrain her. These two are both great, but you wouldn't know it by watching this match.

1/4*

WCW Heavyweight Championship

Randy Savage (C) (W/Miss Elizabeth & Woman) Vs The Giant

Savage gets disqualified for attacking The Giant with the WCW title just seconds into the match. Ric Flair comes out and assaults Randy Savage. He and The Giant dismantle Savage until Hogan comes out with his eye heavily taped and drills everybody with a steel chair. Ric Flair and The Giant invade the announcer's table. Flair gloats about beating Hogan twice and says he's gonna win the WCW title back at Superbrawl for the 13th time.

N/R

Thoughts: It was pretty obvious that the match wouldn't really take place because of how much running time they had. Even though it was repetitive and similar to the chaotic finishes to most Nitro's, this one had semblance of excitement. Flair rambling at the announcer's table was fun too.

Well, this episode isn't all that different from the rest of them. If you dig it, you'll like this episode. If you have mixed feelings about it like I do, it may or may not be your cup of tea.

What a rush!
clayface919 April 2020
The first match is Ric Flair versus Hulk Hogan. This is a good match. The Faces of Fear (Meng and the Barbarian) face the Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal). This is a decent match. Gene Okerlund interviews Kevin Sullivan until he is interrupted by Arn Anderson and a fight breaks out. Madusa takes on Sister Sherri. This is too short to be much of a match. The main event is Randy Savage defending the World Championship against the Giant. This match is ruined by a quick disqualification. Not bad, but could have been better.
