The comeback of Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake
clayface911 June 2019
The show opens with both Brutus Beefcake and Ted DiBiase cutting promos about their match later in the show. The first match is the Steiner Brothers facing the jobber team of Glenn Ruth and Bobby Who (who?). Gene Okerlund gives us a Wrestlemania report. Yokozuna literally squashes Ross Greenberg. We are shown replays of some stuff from WWF Superstars, including a confrontation between Yokozuna and Hacksaw Jim Duggan plus Giant Gonzalez intimidating some jobbers. There is a 16 Man Battle Royal. The main event is the much hyped Brutus Beefcake versus Ted DiBiase match. I won't give it away, but a major angle occurs during this match.

The return of Bruti!

Warning: Spoilers
(02.15.93)

Live from NY, NY

Your hosts are Vince McMahon, Randy Savage & Rob Bartlett

We get dueling promos from Brutus Beefcake and Ted Dibiase over their match later tonight. We also get a running gag throughout the show of Randy Savage's microphone not working, which is completely unfunny.

The Steiner Brothers Vs Glenn Ruth & Bobby Who

The Steiner's win when Rick hits a bulldog off the top. This was a fun squash match. When you have The Steiner's suplexing people all over the place, it never fails to entertain.

3/4*

We get a Wrestlemania 9 report with Mean Gene Okerlund.

Yokozuna (W/Mr. Fuji) Vs Ross Greenberg

Yokozuna wins easily with a banzai drop. This was a simple squash match to make Yokouzuna look like a monster.

1/4*

On Superstars, Jim Duggan knocked Yokozuna off his feet for the first time. Yokozuna doesn't like this at all and throws a bucket of salt in Duggan's eyes, then delivers a banzai drop.

15 Man Battle Royal

The participants are Razor Ramon, Shawn Michaels, Bob Backlund, The Berzeker, Tito Santana, Owen Hart, Koko B. Ware, Skinner, Damien Demento, Typhoon, Terry Taylor, Tatanka, Iron Mike Sharpe, Kim Chee and Kamala.

Razor Ramon wins the battle royal, thanks to help from Giant Gonzalez. I don't really rate battle royals, I'm not very fond of them. This battle royal is certainly one to forget. The only highlight (oddly enough) comes from Kamala chasing Kim Chee around the arena.

Ted Dibiase (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake

Beefcake wins by DQ after I.R.S interferes. Ted Dibiase and I.R.S assault Beefcake after the match and drill him in the face with Irwin's briefcase. Jimmy Hart stays in the ring to console and check on Beefcake while the officials come out with a stretcher.

Thoughts: This was to show Beefcake had no in-ring rust. He dominated the match until the disqualification. The aftermath was to create sympathy for Beefcake. It worked to a certain degree. Jimmy Hart would turn face after this and manage Hulk Hogan.

Raw was still working out the kinks, as it was a brand new show at this juncture. I'd have to say this is a very forgettable episode. The main angle here was Brutus Beefcake and the condition of his face. As I said, it worked to a certain extent, but the show lacked oomph overall.
