Warning: Spoilers
Hollywood Babylon has been dubbed another comedic episode a la Tall Tales. Dean ends up becoming a PA, and much to Sams confuddlement, actually likes his job. The scene with Dean and his headphones is priceless and had me giggling all the way through. As this episode is based around a film set, the writers worked in some brilliant lines poking fun at the show its self, answering such questions viewers of supernatural might have. like 'if a ghost is in hell, how can it hear the incantation calling it back to earth'.... 'super hearing' obviously :p This is an all around laugh out loud episode which has some brilliant one liners as usual, and allows us to see dean in a more everyday job, and see how he would cope. I actually found Sam to be quite funny in this episode, his reaction to being on the Gilmore girls set, priceless. (jared was a character on Gilmore girls for those of you who don't actually know). also his crack about Canadian weather...again another jibe at the show itself. and utterly hilarious anyways, yeah, another good episode :) XsarahX

A Joke and Tribute to Hollywood People
claudio_carvalho23 July 2008
Dean and Sam go to Hollywood to investigate a haunted studio where the lead actress Tara Benchley of a horror movie saw a member of the crew dead and a ghost. Sam researches and finds that four people have died along the last eighty years and the ghost could be any of them. The Winchester brothers are mistaken as PAs and discover that the event was actually a marketing strategy to promote the film. But when the producer Brad Redding first and another executive later die in the set, they discover that a revengeful screenwriter is really summoning fiends in the shooting.

"Hollywood Babylon" is a funny episode, a joke and tribute to Hollywood people. Dean is hilarious, fascinated with the life and the lead actress of the movie. There are also many references to horror movies in this enjoyable episode. My vote is eight.

Maybe the spirits are trying to shut down the movie because they think it sucks.

Warning: Spoilers
Well, It's time for Supernatural to hit the sets of a horror movie, making fun of the business along with making fun of themselves. After last episode's heavy plot, the writers are giving us yet another comic relief. From Jared's Gilmore Girls reference, to Elizabeth Whitmere's annoying scream, to Dean's PA job, this episode is all about having fun along with some creepy ghosts of course. The comic timing was great as well as Jared's facial expressions.

But I have to say this episode was all about Dean. Dean, the guy we are used to seeing as the one who has no trouble with the ladies, is actually stumbling in front of Tara Benchley, a horror film actress of whom he happens to be a fan. Dean, the hunter, the loner, is having a great time working as a PA because it makes him feel as part of the team, Which probably suits his character pretty well, Dean (with his low self esteem issues and inferiority complex) wants to be needed, wants to feel important to the people around him, and of course the free food. On the downside, I didn't like the idea of them just standing there not even trying to save Walter, the guy surely deserved it but it's not something I pictured the boys (especially Sam) would do.

Delightful camp, not quite the much later episode "The French Mistake"
CubsandCulture17 September 2019
The vein of meta episodes that satirize the horror genre and/or entertainment folks is probably my favorite set of episodes. There really isn't a bad one in the bunch. This is one is a weaker ones however. The injoke and satire do not really congeal into a theme or point; there is a slapdash quality to the humor that while funny isn't as pointed as it could have been. So sure it is hysterical to hear Kripke's b-movies get referenced but the allusions are shallow.

Dean as a PA is easily the best part of the episode as that is some of the funniest Jensen material in the show. I am also rather fond of episode's focus on z-grade horror as that fits the camp vibe better. It is funny but the show was able to be much more on this front.

PA is a Personal Assistant

Amazing episode, both funny, and self-reflective, and an opportunity to poke fun of the executive producer, McG. I love the references, and little jabs to pick up about the horror genre, and film in general, including the walk off into the sunset at the end. Also, the reference to Gilmore Girls was funny.

Entertaining joke on how holywood works
jrichard-8865625 January 2020
The beginning of the episode starts with a subtle joke on sam as he and dean are riding on the the slow tour kart through holywood and the driver mentions here is the set of gilmore girls and if you look close you may see a star of the show. Sam is shown looking kinda uncomfortable and him and dean depart the tour for their real reason for being here stopping multiple poltergeists on set. This episodes is good and entertaining and like the beginning of the episode, has many subtle jokes about holywood the stars of the show and even the writers, i highly recommend this episode

One of the best this season

Warning: Spoilers
A great episode, in part because the whole thing is an exercise in self-reflexivity: a horror within a horror. I also love the reference to Gilmore Girls and the way Sam tries to run away from the set (in real life, Jared P was on Gilmore Girls for a long time). I also love the walking into the sunset reference at the end and the immediate drawback to Supernatural's own set. It's dramatic self-consciousness at its best and shows that the writers aren't afraid to poke fun at themselves. Weak points: Well, the film's villain wasn't quite convincing. He's meant to be the purist who puts truth a fidelity to accuracy in his scripts. But these scripts are trumped by suave yet brainless pens who will gladly give people gore and boobs if they think it will meant more seats in a movie theatre. It's a well-worn idea, but the acting wasn't convincing. 9/10

comic relief
mm-3921 July 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The comic relief episode. I love this episode; while watching Hollywood Babylon my wife kept saying Michael which is my name to everyone of Dean's antics. Ie stuffing his face while saying this is great, listen to the headphones, and being an excited big kid during the tour annoying the heavy kid beside him. The show pokes fun at all the hooks Hollywood uses like the guy in the woods, the blowing wind, creaking doors, the stupid one liners etc. The best part is the mockery of the Hollywood producer who getting show ideas while people are dying. The classic scene is the moment of silence for someone who died and no one cares displays the over importance of big egos in the industry. The ending is silly. 9 out of 10! Catch the summer reruns for the one.

Warning: Spoilers
Well, this episode is quite entertaining especially after all the waterfalls on the last episode. As usual Dean is so enjoying life..just look at his expression when he ate those sandwiches and chewing all those foods,mm. And Sam's face looks so....looks like surprised how he can end up with a brother like Dean. Well, I think that is a huge luck. Anyway, the ghosts aren't so cool especially the one with the branches head. It's disgusting. And what about the last scene when they walked to the sunset? Over all this episode it's fun to watch. And they really give a new definition of PA job right??? Btw, what is PA?The character of the horror movie actors is so plain, how can we compare with Dean and Sam? And the idea of using hand phone for seeing the ghost is so brilliant. always shows that Sam is a smart hunter and Dean is kind of field operation officer who has to shoot at them all. Just go get them boys.
