This is a real trend settter in malayalam .. everything is perfect from the casting to technical or locations and above all the director amal neerad with his classy visuals breaks the contemporary image of action films in malayalam ..

The story is simple but the narration makes it stylish .. The dialogs were crisp and sharp and well handled by mammootty the class actor in the country .. He takes film in his shoulder and the way he emotes walks dress everything gives the film a feel that malayalam has never seen before ..

If u love stylish film with some good real good emotions this is the film coz film like this never going to happen twice .. A must watch for those who love action films ..

4 brothers reunite after their mother was murdered and decides to take avenge...

MASTER piece in terms of technical perfection!! The movie tells the story of 4 brothers who reunited after their mothers (they 4 are adopted sons)death and decides to avenge her death.The 4 brothers are lead by Big B-Bilal-Played by mammooty.

The story is this simple! But the action scenes are really adrenaline pumping!The camera and direction are excellent! Congrats to the new director Amal Neerad (he did camera for Mamooty's movie BLACK directed by Renjith) All action scenes are simply perfect.The chase,the gunfights,climax fights are just amazing! Dialogues are very short and to the point.Great dialogue delivery my Mammootty! He once again proved his ability to do roles like this.Though a similar attempt was made in BLACK, Big B stands far ahead of Black.

Songs are also excellent.Listen it to 2-3 times and you will fall in love!

Worth seeing thrice!! (in a dts theatre)

Best stylish movie of Malayalam.

A perfect a remake for the Hollywood movie Four Brothers released on 2005. And consider as the Best stylish movie of Malayalam. This movie was an average box office hit. But later after the release of the DVD/ Home screen it become a huge Trent and made Mammmootty's Character Bilal as the most fan following character in Malayalam. The fire is still on, that's why the announcement of Big-B's upcoming sequel "Bilal". The big waiting is still continuing.

Big B: A Rare Happening

There are some rare happenings in the the history of literature and films.A sequel, which is better than the original, is one such instance,both in terms of film and literature.A remake which is better than original is another such instance. Big B, the Malayalam film is a film of this category.

There are certain sequels which diminished the original.Huckleberry Finn in novel , and Gofather II in film etc.Big B , which is a remake of John Singleton's FOUR BROTHERS is a better film, in terms of its cultural placement, technical brilliance and action sequences.The film is free from the religious and caste politics of usual Malayalam movies.Or it must be said that it is a deliberate answer to the upper class films of Shaji Kailas -Renjith group, the film being clearly posited on the side of minorities.

In a land where the moustache twirling heroes boasts of their patrimony,here four adop0ted children arrives to revenge the death of their foster mother.Aptly, the positing of Sayip Tony as a villain adds to the post colonial dimension of the film.(Remember Vinayakan's dialogue:"Our fathers were here in the scene before you and your fathers alighted this shore".

Usually Malayalam films have the character of the writer and not of the director.But here Amal shows his mettle: The funeral sequence is an example.What the writer can give is only this:RAIN.THE FUNERAL.BILAL COMES. Watch how Amal pictures this.

The film has a captivating local color of FORT KOCHI.Local color is something that malayalam film makers pay little attention.In these times when Malayala, film often tells the story of an unidentified village in Kerala-tamilnadu border, BIG B really refreshes us with its COCHIN flavor.

The real value of the film will only be recognized by a well-informed posterity, it seems.BIG B seems to be one of the rare commercial films of this decade that will be watched by the audience of future far decades to come....

BIGB is Far better than Original 'Four Brothers'

I just saw the film Four Brothers. But very disappointed.. maybe because I have BIGB in my mind .. I must say how brilliantly Amal made this masterpiece.. this is ridiculously amazing .. the making , dialogues, casting , actions scenes, and the damn bgm wuhh ..!!! Right now yes eagerly waiting for the second sequel of this movie !!!

The most stylish and mass movie the malayalam Movie ever witnesed after samrajan. Even samrajyam was mamootys movie. The bgm score given by gopi sunder was awesome. The story of 4 brothers. The dailogues was so powerful.

Solid revenge tale diluted by inept directing

The plot is fine. The standard basis for revenge is elevated by the community icon whose brutal murder starts the ball rolling. Her avenging angels are nobly motivated, and led by a classic antihero hero. The bad guys collectively possess all the political and financial corruption one expects, plus the toughest among them reeking of pure psycho sadism.

But somewhere between the director and editor the production went awry. Too many closeups on faces, even during action sequences, that killed the essential context for what we're seeing. In a gun battle we should be able to tell who's shooting whom, and where the shots are coming from. They failed badly on that element. Fast cuts during fights weakened the impact of those moments.

Those who don't need English subtitles were lucky to enjoy much better dialog than I got watching on Netflix. I'm used to deficiencies in translations from Indian cinema, but this gave us a much larger gap between what characters must have been saying and what I was reading. How hard can it be to find fully bilingual people to do these gigs properly? Hack jobs like this are an insult to the hard work of all the writers, actors and crew who delivered a better film than I was able to experience.

Big B aka four brothers in Malayalam

This movie is a good example of how malayalees have become great experts in remaking Hollywood block busters. You have to admit the director has taken great care to make it as close to the original (Four brothers). He has not missed any scenes from the original except added few songs and a fort kochi touch of gang warfare.

when i first saw it with my friends i just felt wow what a rip off. I mean this movie has been a no brain-er for the director just watch the original as many times as possible and just shoot it with local actors. what i liked about is the movie sticks on to the original script with not much of Malayalam deviation and mammoty play the tough guy role pretty well.

I have to admit the movie comes out pretty well in Malayalam considering the other tough crap movies around. The director has resisted the usual Malayalam style of casting and photography with something decent (of course he probably had to see four brothers more than anyone else to get things right) but you have to give it to him. Art direction also is good all kept pretty simple again i feel this is all to the fact that they had good look at the original and probably thought of it as a pilot movie.

For those Malayalam movie lovers who have not watched four brothers this movie would be perform well. The overall quality of the movie is great. Direction, casting, photography and sound track. Why cant we make just and good remakes like this of good Hollywood movies?

I would recommend this movie if you have not seen four brothers and want to see some tough action (of course this does not happen in fort kochi) and lots of no sentiments gun fights and fist fights in Malayalam.

First in its kind in Malayalam

Alright. First of all if you're always proud and only watch the 'award winning' Malayalam movies, then this is definitely not for you. Please stay away. There is no heart breaking background score, no eye-tearing sentiments, nor earth shattering dialogues. Instead it's brilliant camera work and moves, wonderful action sequences, superb editing - a total slo-mo technical perfection. The first in it's kind in Malayalam. Forget the simple story plot. Just sit and watch the show if you're an action lover. I enjoy this movie much much more than 'Four Brothers' the English inspired version. Mammootty is cool. The duet between Bala and Mamta is sweet to hear and well shot. The interval scene is excellent. The only thing I see missing a little is; Bala is a great fighter. The director should have given him couple of kick scenes! And Pasupathy's character little bit annoying at the first place. But these silly things won't affect the overall result. It's a visual treat. Being a great fan of director John Woo and his type of movies, I would call Amal Neerad the 'John Woo' of Malayalam Cinema!

Average copy of four brothers

Just watch Four brother way better. Mammootty looks way too old for the role. Mother and son almost same age. They should've pick someone else for the roll. Actions look too fake and slow. Nowhere near close to four brothers.

Copy Pasting Of Four Brothers Hollywood Movie.

This movie is the exact copy paste of the Hollywood movie Four Brothers 2005 starred by Mark Wahlberg. There is no change or anything to the movie there is very creative less direction and that's why the movie was a big flop in big screen.

I never heard about hollywood movie four brothers but seems this movie is remake of it. Watching movie after fifteen years but wonder by the standard if this movie was liked in 2007 because feel even back than this must have looked outdated with mamoothy and nafisa I thought this movie would be interesting but unfortunately it did not. Mamoothy seems to be very slow, many scenes feel he over acted, wonder why did he has this cheap chain hanging in his trouser. Was it a style statement? If yes than it was too down market. Gang war was executed in a way you feel it's a film shooting where the hero has to go and comfortably kill the goons like cake and the director will say cut it! Ok. Very dull boring movie.
