It takes many people to fill Richard Osman’s shoes, and not just because he wears a size 14. Back in April 2021, the TV presenter, producer and novelist announced that he was leaving his co-presenter role on Pointless to focus on his hugely successful Thursday Murder Club book series and other projects. Due to the ‘stars we see in the night sky are actually hundreds of years in the past’ nature of TV broadcast, by that point, Osman was already four months out of the job. His final episode of the regular Pointless (he’ll still appear on the celebrity editions) was filmed in December 2021 and aired in July 2022, with this touching message to Alexander Armstrong.
When Pointless returned for Series 28 in September 2022, it came with a rotating clutch of new guest-hosts sitting behind Osman’s fact-checking desk. First up was Sally Lindsay, and following her were Stephen Mangan, Lauren Laverne,...

Great British Menu will be cooking up a storm on BBC Two later this summer.
A new series of the show is to see plucky members of the British public serve up their signature dishes to a team of expert judges.
This series, contestants are attempting to win the chance to cook at a special banquet at London's Drapers Hall, celebrating 100 years of the Women's Institute (Wi).
Matthew Fort, Prue Leith and Oliver Peyton will judge the food entered in the competition.
Fort said: "All good cooking begins in the home. That's why the Wi has been so important to food in this country. It has established and maintained the highest of standards for home cooking.
"But great home cooking won't be enough to get a dish to the Banquet at this year's Gbm. Any dish must honour the standards of the Wi, but also build on them with imagination...

Prime Minister David Cameron will host the final banquet for the ninth series of Great British Menu.
The theme for the BBC Two cooking competition this year is World War II and the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings and several veterans will be in attendance.
"My generation, this country, we enjoy freedom, we enjoy democracy because of the sacrifices your generation made and we must never forget that," Cameron said to the guests.
The Great British Menu banquet will be shown on Friday, June 6 at 7pm on BBC Two.
It's a huge pleasure to be here tonight in this astounding venue. We're here of course to commemorate D-Day. I simply cannot imagine what it must have been like to land on those beaches - to uncertainty, to terrifying danger, to possible death. But that is exactly what thousands of young men did.
