The Making of Jaws 3D: Sharks Don't Die (1983)

This making of featurette originally aired the week before the film was released to go with a special article in TV Guide. If you're looking for something Earth shattering or ground-breaking then you're going to be disappointed. There's really nothing overly special about this featurette but I do have to say it's better than the actual film turned out. The documentary is broken into various bits and takes a look at different parts of the production. We start off learning about Great White sharks and then we hit topics like the special effects in the movie, the training of the dolphins and then we hear about the "research" that was done for the story. It's funny but out of all the subjects there's really no talk about the creation of the shark and the fact that the the 3-D really isn't talked up that much. It's strange but it really does seem like the featurette would turn some people off because a large portion deals with the violence in the movie and they talk about the pig guts that were used in order to create the effects. Nothing discussed is overly graphic but it seems like some of the sensitive viewers might decide to just skip the film instead of see it. Louis Gossett, Jr. does the narration and has a quite interview about his character. Fans of the film might want to check this out but it's certainly not going to crush anyone if they skip it.
