Quotes
-
Tony Soprano : [stares at the desert sun] I get it. I get it!
-
Tony Soprano : You alright?
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : [referring to Christopher] I know I had my differences with that kid, but maybe I didn't do right by him, neither. If you were his dad, I was his Dutch uncle. And what the fuck did I do but get pissed off? Fight with him over cocksuckin', fuckin' money? And break his balls when he tried not to have a drink or a little taste of snow.
Tony Soprano : it's over Paulie
-
Christopher Moltisanti : Frankly, Tone, I'm thinking maybe we should meet Phil's number.
Tony Soprano : Why? I think that would set a terrible precedent right now. Just bend over? When he just became boss of the family over there?
Christopher Moltisanti : Yeah, well, that's the flying ointment. Even still, I say let him have it. Life's too short.
Tony Soprano : It's also too short to live it as a fuckin' lackey.
Christopher Moltisanti : True, too.
-
Christopher Moltisanti : Well, regarding Phil, I gotta ask. Whatever happened to "stop and smell the roses"?
Tony Soprano : You're right, you're right. You can't fight every fucking battle, right? Asbestos.
[laughs]
Tony Soprano : Each day's a gift.
Christopher Moltisanti : Every time I look at my kid, that's what I realize.
Tony Soprano : And that shit with Junior? Please. It's just that people like Phil, they're not on that page. They'll take those roses and stick 'em up your ass, thorns first.
-
Tony Soprano : You know what? This is bullshit.
Dr. Jennifer Melfi : What?
Tony Soprano : I haven't been able to tell anybody this. I'm fuckin' relieved.
Dr. Jennifer Melfi : Really?
Tony Soprano : He was a tremendous drag on my emotions and my thoughts about the future. I mean, to begin with, every morning I wake up thinkin' is this the day that one of my best friends is gonna dime me to the FBI? And a weak, fuckin' snivellin', lyin' drug addict? That's the worst kind of bet. The biggest blunder of my career is now gone. And I don't have to be confronted by that fact no more. And as a relative, a friend, someone you can count on?
[flicks his hand under his chin]
Dr. Jennifer Melfi : I see.
Tony Soprano : Let me tell you somethin'. I murdered friends before, even relatives. My cousin Tony, my best friend Puss... But this?
[wakes up from his dream]
-
[Joanne falls to her knees and cries]
Tony Soprano : Fuckin' James Brown now.
-
Julianna Skiff : [At Christopher's wake] hi
Tony Soprano : How are ya?
Tony Soprano : [Introducing them to each other] Julianna Skiff, this is my wife Carmela Soprano
Julianna Skiff : [Correcting him on pronouncing her last name] Skiff
Tony Soprano : Oh, right
Tony Soprano : [to Carmella] Julianna is a real estate in the old neighborhood
Carmela Soprano : And you knew Christopher?
Julianna Skiff : I used to buy my meat at Satriale's and I'm a recovering addict. I owe him a lot
Carmela Soprano : That's nice to hear
Tony Soprano : What're you going to do?
Julianna Skiff : Nothing you can do
-
Carmela Soprano : [referring to the makeup on Christopher's face during his funeral] They did a beautiful job on him
Carmela Soprano : [after taking a deep breath] I'm gonna go up
Tony Soprano : I'll go up later
Carmela Soprano : How are you doing?
Tony Soprano : It's tough
Carmela Soprano : Yeah, he loved you so much
Tony Soprano : Yeah?
Carmela Soprano : You know he did
-
Carmela Soprano : [as he calls from the hospital] Is everything ok?
Tony Soprano : You sitting down? I'm serious
Carmela Soprano : Yes, I'm in bed
Tony Soprano : Alright listen, sweetheart there's been an accident. We were coming back from the city and... Christopher's dead
Carmela Soprano : [shocked] Oh my God
Tony Soprano : Carm...
Carmela Soprano : What happened?
Tony Soprano : He drove off the road, car flipped over. Look, I'll tell you in detail later
Carmela Soprano : Are you ok?
Tony Soprano : I just banged my knee, the one from high school, I'm fine: he wasn't wearing a belt
Carmela Soprano : Where are you, Saint Clair's?
Tony Soprano : Listen, their gonna call Kelli, if they haven't already. Just get Al and Rita on the phone and get them started over there
Carmela Soprano : [panicking while looking through her closet] Alright, alright. Oh my God, his dead?
Tony Soprano : Yeah
Carmela Soprano : Alright let me get dressed
-
Tony Soprano : [Referring to Christopher and Carmella] He was high a fuckin kite, I didn't tell her that
Dr. Jennifer Melfi : In retrospect, maybe not the best approach
Tony Soprano : Right, I'm the asshole, again
Dr. Jennifer Melfi : [after noticing Tony pause for a second] what? No go ahead
Tony Soprano : It's amazing how some things work, his mother, my cousin Joanne: a lush, totally abandoned him as a parent and now she's reaping all the sympathy and tears .
Dr. Jennifer Melfi : How are you doing Anthony?
Tony Soprano : There's been some hard moments, a weak fuckin lying drug addict who fantasized about my downfall even showed people his filthy thoughts on a movie screen. I've seen friends died before, accidents even murder. My cousin Tony, they shot his face away. I was prostate with grief but this?
Dr. Jennifer Melfi : I see
Tony Soprano : And it occurs to me I hand carried this kid through the worst crisis he ever had. I can't go into particulars but wives, girlfriends they can complicate life in major ways I don't have to tell you that. It was a huge problem of his own making and he cried, he couldn't deal with it. So, I took up the slack. I handled it, I felt sorry for him and he talked gratitude but guess what pity produces in the recipient? They shit on your pity and that's what broke the camel's back.
Dr. Jennifer Melfi : How are you dealing with this?
Tony Soprano : The worst part? Truthfully? Because I've got to sit there with people who are hurt bad and I've got to have the long face and the sighing, the platitudes but I don't feel it and that makes feel like a hypocrite
-
Phil Leotardo : [meeting privately] I just now find out it's asbestos you're dumping over there
Tony Soprano : what'd you think it was?
Phil Leotardo : I never asked, Tampax, fuck do I know?
Tony Soprano : well, now you know
Phil Leotardo : you and your friend Stefano have been "pocketing" how much on this "cowboys and Indians" asbestos removal?
Butch DeConcini : building the townships like you're following all the EPA regulations
Tony Soprano : [ignores Butch] you got the same scams Phil, why don't we cut through the bullshit, how much you think your owed on this?
Phil Leotardo : twenty five percent
Tony Soprano : don't be an asshole
Christopher Moltisanti : [to Phil] you know there's "close monitoring" at every fuckin landfill
Phil Leotardo : [sarcastically, referring to Tony] maybe if somebody had been up front with me from the beginning?
Tony Soprano : nobody hided nothing, I just seen him dumping it there with what's his name? The Operations Manager, since "I've" been there at Barone Sanitation?
Phil Leotardo : you're not "there" anymore, I am and you're enjoying your "generous" severance package
Tony Soprano : twenty five percent: that's not gonna happen
Phil Leotardo : [before Tony ignores him and leaves with Christopher] you got a backyard, pool? Dump it there, it's my only other "suggestion"
-
Elzbieta : Mr. Tony, Mr. Sil is here, Mrs Carmela said you should stay in bed
Tony Soprano : Have him come up
Silvio Dante : [enters Tony's bedroom with Paulie, Walden and Bobby] I'm right here Tone, we came as soon as we heard
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : Patsy went over to Chrissy's mom's house
Tony Soprano : Yeah, that's where Carmela is
Walden Belfiore : Carlo's coming up
Bobby 'Bacala' Baccalieri : How you doing Tone?
Tony Soprano : My knee got banged up, he says it's probably going to be ok. You know last thing I remember was pulling away from Phil
Bobby 'Bacala' Baccalieri : Skid marks all over the plates, the cops told Carm
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : [referring to Christopher] He had a heavy foot that kid, always, almost put me through a billboard one time
Benny Fazio : [as he walks in and shakes his hand] hey Tone, I'm so sorry. I still can't believe it
Tony Soprano : Thanks, I know you two were close
Benny Fazio : I was making my collections, Anthony Mafay called me, Jesus
Walden Belfiore : It's Carlo I bet
Tony Soprano : [referring to Christopher] fuckin idiot didn't have a seat belt on, his chest filled up, suffocated on his own blood
Benny Fazio : Jesus
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : Poor kid
Bobby 'Bacala' Baccalieri : Jesus Christ
Tony Soprano : Seems like that's the cause of death
Walden Belfiore : It's not Carlo, its AJ
Benny Fazio : [to Walden] Carlo's coming up?
Silvio Dante : [to Walden, irritated] What's with you and Carlo's fuckin arrival?
Walden Belfiore : I'm just saying
Tony Soprano : Their gonna do a full blood test on him: see if you know... if alcohol, drugs... you know
Silvio Dante , Benny Fazio : It did occur to me, he didn't seem high, did he?
Tony Soprano : Are you kidding? I would've been furious. I would've fuckin strangled him
Walden Belfiore : He'd been working the program very dedicated ever since he threw Little Paulie out that window
Silvio Dante : Let's not go there
Benny Fazio : Even before that he was battling that shit
Bobby 'Bacala' Baccalieri : He gave it his all
Silvio Dante : Anyway, his gone now, our Chrissy... crazy fuckin maniac
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : Thing to take to heart T, your here, you're alright. You could've been killed for fuck's sake
Tony Soprano : What're you gonna do?
-
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : [during Nucci Gaultieri's funeral] thanks for coming
Carmela Soprano : [hugs and kisses him] We are so sorry for your loss
Tony Soprano : how you hangin in?
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : As well as it can be expected
Carmela Soprano : It must be very hard for you, I know how close you two would become again
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : Not much of a "send-off" here
Carmela Soprano : The room is beautiful
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : Nobody's in it, what kind of sentiment is this to the spirit and generosity of the woman?
Carmela Soprano : [before kissing him and leaving] We're here for you, you know that
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : It's a fundamental lack of respect and I'm never gonna fuckin forget it neither
Tony Soprano : Jesus, people your mother's age, their friends die off
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : She "outlived" Sil? Carlo? their all over there with your nephew
Tony Soprano : yeah...
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : [interrupts him] Councilman Cirillo was here three minutes. I clocked him: he told Gerry he was going to the Moltisanti wake
Tony Soprano : people are coming and if they don't... fuck them
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : I got five hundred prayer cards
Tony Soprano : so, Carm and I are here, what the fuck is that? Nothing?
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : [shakes his head] No of course not, it means the world
Tony Soprano : Ok
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : [points to Nucci Gaultieri's body] She suffered too, you know?
Tony Soprano : Well, this is neither the time or place
Paulie 'Walnuts' Gualtieri : Your right
-
Tony Soprano : [referring to Phil] His got us by the gats, I'll ya that
Christopher Moltisanti : Unless that guy at the Pensy landfill decides to play ball
Tony Soprano : That asshole's gonna shit in his pants if he gets pinched by the EPA
Tony Soprano : [irritated by Christopher] What's this make believe ballroom? How many times you gonna change the station?
Christopher Moltisanti : [while inserting the CD into the stereo] The Departed soundtrack: it's fuckin killer, you got it?
Tony Soprano : Yeah, it's good
-
Tony Soprano : [irritated, referring to the machine is difficult to use] You make me a cup of Cappuccino from the fuckin machine from Paulie, you need a pilot's license
Carmela Soprano : It's so hard not to think of Christopher as a child, isn't it?
Tony Soprano : Katie kinda looks like him which makes it doubly hard. Of course, that's not gonna do her any favors when she hits puberty
Carmela Soprano : A lot of women found him very attractive. I think to myself "How could I ever said those things about him?" About him and Andriana? What her mother said what he did to her? Obviously, he was violent as an adult, his upbringing, but he adored Ade: He could never let himself take her life. Why are we so quick to blame? What is the attraction of that?
Tony Soprano : When I called you that night of the accident, you asked me "Oh my God, Tony, his dead?"
Carmela Soprano : yeah?
Tony Soprano : And I thought I picked up a twinge of... relief?
Carmela Soprano : [surprised] what?
Tony Soprano : It just seemed like... I don't know
Carmela Soprano : [chastising him] How can you say that? You don't even know what you're talking about
Tony Soprano : Ok, good, I'm wrong
Carmela Soprano : Maybe if you did pick up "something" like that, it's because I was relieved that it was him and not you
Tony Soprano : Don't feel bad about that, that makes sense
Carmela Soprano : [while crying] Going down to the hospital again at two in the morning. And you know what? When you were shot, it was Christopher that held me
Tony Soprano : You know the baby's car seat? A giant tree branch came in through the window and demolished it... she would've been dead, Katie, mangled beyond recognition
