When Neill Blomkamp was named the director of Sony‘s Gran Turismo, fans of the time-honored racing video game franchise rejoiced. Blomkamp is known for his unique approach to filmmaking, bringing style, eye-popping visuals, and spectacle to the playing field. With an inspiring story at its foundation, Gran Turismo could become a stand-out for racing cinema in a time when movies like Ford v Ferrari, Michael Mann’s Ferrari, and the Fast and the Furious franchise offer thrills on and off the track. Imagine Blomkamp applying that level of care and detail to Robocop, a fan-favorite franchise in dire need of a reboot or sequel worth celebrating. While speaking with Blomkamp for Gran Turismo, we asked the filmmaker about the defunct Robocop Returns, a would-be sequel to Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 original.
While talking to Blomkamp about his approach to Robocop Returns, he said his version would have emulated Verhoeven’s style,...

A new script is in development from DC and Warner Brothers for the feature film Green Lantern Corps. We know that the recent Green Lantern movie, starring Ryan Reynolds, failed miserably. But, this time around we may have the creative talent to at least create a good script. The upcoming film is being written by David Goyer (all Christopher Nolan Batman movies, Jumper, Blade, Man of Steel, and he is working on TV shows The Sandman and Krypton) and Justin Rhodes (Grassroots, Contract Killers -- side note he was born in my home town and we are two years apart). Goyer is also producing alongside Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, and I think we all hope that Johns will usher in a new age of legit DC films.
The new focus of this movie will center around both Hal Jordan and John Stewart (hell yes), and has been described as...

While David S. Goyer certainly has his hands full working on the delayed production of Batman vs. Superman (which just gained Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor), he's also looking to get back behind the camera again. After helming Blade Trinity, The Unborn and The Invisible, THR has word that Goyer is attached to direct The Breach, a new sci-fi action thriller produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (of Transformers) that Lionsgate just picked up in a bidding war with other studios. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Patrick Lee, and has drawn comparisons to "24" and "The X-Files." More below! Justin Rhodes (Grassroots, Contract Killers) will adapt the book which follows corrupt ex-cop who is trying to get his life back in order when he discovers a crashed plane in the Alaska wilderness. But among the wreckage is the First Lady and evidence of a mysterious missing item.

Warner Bros. has picked a new sci-fi film project called Second Son. The studio picked up the spec script from Justin Rhodes and attached Scott Aversano as the films producer.
There's absolutely no information on what this film is about other than it a sci-fi "adventure set on planets with twists." As for the films idea man Rhodes, he is a film editor that wrote and directed a film in 2009 called Contract Killers. In between jobs he worked at his dads accounting firm.
I have no idea what is in store for us with this project, but hopefully it will end up being cool.

Vesuvio Entertainment CEO Greg Sims got in touch with Dread from the Cannes Film Market last night, where he unveiled and commenced foreign sales for his psycho-thriller feature Behind Your Eyes (see our exclusive set visit to that production from this last February here).
Starring Swedish actress Frida (Contract Killers) Farrell, Tom (Puppet Master: Axis of Evil) Sandoval, and Daniel Fanaberia (pictured below at Cannes with Sims), Behind Your Eyes marks Vesuvio’s first collaboration with director Clint Lien and Fanaberia, who also scripted the flick, and stands as the Century City, CA-based company’s first feature in a multi-picture slate.
“I would say that this is the best of a contemporary twist on Psycho,” Sims tells us of Behind Your Eyes. “It’s about people not being who you think they are, and it’s about an idyllic couple that go away to meet the parents, and everybody turns...

Following up on our news item last week regarding executive producer Greg H. Sims’ home-invasion thriller Behind Your Eyes, this scribe contacted Sims to get the 411 on the Southern California-shooting production. Written by Daniel Fanaberia and directed by Clint Lien, Behind Your Eyes is the first in-house feature for new production and distribution entity Vesuvio Entertainment Corporation, of which Sims is CEO (not Tri Coast as originally reported).
Writer and actor Fanaberia (who was brought to Sims’ attention by his turn in The Carpenter Part One: And So They Die, an indie film which Vesuvio has picked up for distribution and for sequels) pitched Behind Your Eyes to Sims in the fall of ’09. In an insanely quick turnaround, Sims attached director Lien, and Behind Your Eyes went before the cameras earlier this month.
"It's certainly the fastest turnaround from pitch to production that I've ever been involved with," said Sims...
