Victor Garber, who guest-stars in this episode, has a nearly five-decade history with both Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy. According to a December 2020 article by Julia Polster in 34th Street Magazine, Garber and Levy were costars in the 1972 Canadian production of Godspell, alongside fellow future stars Andrea Martin, Martin Short, and Gilda Radner. At the time, Radner was dating O'Hara's brother, so Catherine met both Levy and Garber through that connection.
The episode's title is a reference to the song of the same name in the 1964 Broadway musical Fiddler on the Roof. Victor Garber, who guest-stars in this episode, was once scheduled to play Tevye in a planned early 2000s TV-movie version of Fiddler, but the European shoot was canceled in February 2003 before starting because the producers were unable to secure insurance against a possible terrorist attack.
Both Saul Rubinek and Genelle Williams ,who appear in this episode (but never in the same scene), also starred in Warehouse 13 (2009) together.
