Inside the Actors Studio: Tom Hanks #2 (2006)

Host James Lipton starts off the program by saying Tom Hanks is the first encore actor to visit the studio. From here Hanks talks about a wide range of films including the first two TOY STORY movies, THE TERMINAL, CASTAWAY, THE DA VINCI CODE, THE GREEN MILE and ROAD TO PERDITION. As usual, Hanks tells some pretty funny stories along the way and he's certainly got a charm that goes a long way in terms of entertainment. He even manages to crack a joke about THE BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES and make it funny. I think the biggest reason for this encore return was to promote THE DA VINCI CODE as it's this film that gets the majority of the running time. There's at least ten-minutes devoted to the movie, which seems like quite a bit and especially since something like ROAD TO PERDITION is mentioned yet working with Paul Newman isn't brought up. Fans of Hanks are certainly going to want to check this out but I'd say those interested in THE DA VINCI CODE will probably be the biggest fans of this.
