- Dobie and Maynard go from the frying pan to the firing squad! While vacationing in the banana republic of Boca Dolce, the boys are abducted and Maynard is forced to impersonate his look-alike, General Ramon, a fearless leader known as El Tigre.—Gary R. Peterson
- Dobie and Maynard's exotic and relaxing vacation to the Latin American resort country of Boca Dolce ends up not being anything as they expect. Not only is it not the resort they are expecting, but they are immediately abducted upon arrival. They learn that their abductors are the country's president and his staff as Maynard looks exactly like the president's son/the country's military leader, General Ramon aka El Tigre. They want Maynard to impersonate El Tigre at public functions for a few days as El Tigre is targeted by Zapatero, the dictator of the neighboring country, Raton Grande. In a public relations maneuver, El Tigre and Zapatero are to sign a peace treaty to bring peace to the region, which Zapatero is trying to thwart. They need Maynard to act as El Tigre until the treaty is signed. They are able to convince Maynard and Dobie to go along using moral suasion, aka threat of execution otherwise. But Zapatero's men end up kidnapping the real El Tigre and Dobie. The only way they can be saved is if Maynard can convince Zapatero and his men that he is the real El Tigre, who has come to sign the peace treaty... or perhaps if someone else can convince them that they are El Tigre.—Huggo
