Deputy director of the British immigration service Charles Radford covers up the suspicious non-hindering of Turkish illegals. After one of them, young Mehmet Kunac, commits a high-profile murder without personal motive, assistant Sarah Kendrick breaks her section chief Alan Marshall's silence code by approaching Ben, who eagerly accepts while pregnant Alishia would prefer lucrative cases and histing her parents so they and Ben can grow together. Ben soon discovers a whole corrupt plot, involving Turkish crime baron Mustafa Doglu, who orders him beaten up, and rich British-Cypriot Anna Charteris. But the brass's eagerness to scare, sue or buy off Sarah proves founded on an far darker conspiracy.
