When the foursome initially arrive at and behold the abbey, their clothing and hairdos are briskly windblown upon frontal view, yet clearly very still upon subsequent rear view.
When Bill & Ian are talking at the gates of the park after reading about the Covenant being defeated, a woman in a green coat passes behind Bill twice.
The group is shown being arrested by the police at the end of the film, however in reality they were not arrested until some time later. The curator of Arbroath Abbey allowed the group sufficient time to make their escape before calling the police.
Kay Matheson took no further part in the operation after taking the smaller portion of the stone to Birmingham, yet she is seen as part of the group bringing the Stone back over the border as well as taking it to Arbroath Abbey.
The Scottish Covenant Association, to which the gang belongs, did not want all-out independence for Scotland as is suggested in the film.
It is broad daylight at 6.30am on 'Christmas Morning' - in Britain daylight does not begin until around 8am in mid-winter.
The Stone was retrieved on Christmas Day 1950, yet external scenes show the trees to be green and leafy as opposed to bare.
The two-tone police sirens shown both in Scotland and London did not come into use until later. Police cars in the UK in the early 1950s had bells.
The chandeliers shown in the nave of the Abbey were not installed until 1965; they were by Waterford and given to the Abbey by the Guiness family to celebrate its 900th anniversary.
In 1950 Westminster Abbey was not sparkling clean as shown in the movie. It was a grayish / black color due to years of pollution. The stonework was only cleaned and restored very recently.
The statues in the niches above the door are modern - the niches having been empty since the middle ages - and among the martyrs is Martin Luther King Jr., who was very much alive in 1950. There is a sign next to the entrance to the West gate which explains the statues were unveiled by the Queen in 1998 so they certainly weren't there when the heist took place.
In the scene where Charlie Cox is cycling towards 1950s Glasgow University, a modern day (2007) Glasgow council van can be seen in the background.
When Charlie Cox takes the train south from Glasgow to London, the train is shown going over a viaduct with Highland scenery, rather than Border scenery. No such viaduct exists, it is the West Highland Line near Mallaig. The train is heading towards Mallaig in the scene.
When they are driving from Glasgow to London, they are shown to be on a single track road, with a river alongside it. This is actually Glen Etive, about 100 miles NORTH of Glasgow, and definitely not on the road to London - it's a no through road. Additionally, Glen Coe appears in this sequence which is also in the wrong direction for London.
In the scene where Ian has escaped with the stone and almost runs over Gavin & Alan, the Glasgow skyline (South Portland Street Suspension Bridge from the south of the Clyde river) can clearly be seen in the background although they are supposedly near Westminster.
