Sex & Nudity

  • There is a hologram in the ship's cantina of a woman doing a sensual dance. She is not naked at all and there isn't much focus on her, but her dancing could be considered suggestive.
  • Near the end of the game, a woman is saved after being combined with the zerg (bug-like aliens). When she is rescued, she is completely naked although fog and her leg cover the view of her genitals while her arm covers her chest.

Violence & Gore

  • Game rating M : Graphic Sci-fi War Violence and Gore and Some Language
  • Despite the Teen rating, the game has a lot of blood and gore, especially when fighting the zerg. A lot of enemies appear to die in a graphic, bloody manner but the entire game takes place in a distant third-person perspective.
  • There is occasional blood splatter when fighting as or against Terrans (humans). I found that when fighting Protoss troops can be very bloodily sliced in half by blade-wielding Protoss.
  • Zerg can create large organic structures that have very bloody results when destroyed.
  • Violence in cutscenes is usually relatively tame. They involve some zerg getting shot and sliced but there is usually minimal blood.

Profanity

  • "Sh*t" is used a few times along with milder profanities like hell and damn.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Tychus is usually smoking a cigar, Jim Raynor is seen smoking a cigar a few times.
  • Jim Raynor (the main character) always ends up in the cantina after each mission, drink in hand.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Cutscenes are gory and violent for a T rated game
  • One of the cutscenes near the middle of the game shows a doctor who attempted to create a cure for the Zerg, but ended up infected. Can be very disturbing for some players, although it does not even come into every playthrough, as it is the cutscene for an optional mission.
  • A few cutscenes involving zerg surprise attacks may frighten younger players.
  • Some of the violence in the cutscenes can also be disturbing. In one video a zerg gets its head blown off, and you clearly see the bloody remains of its brain matter and skull.
