I disagree with other reviews. It's a fun show. I enjoy how they use an amazing inspiration house to make their own remodel. A viewer without a ton of money, can still get ideas. It's a competition. Real designers competing, not first time amateurs. And they are competing for recognition, not money. I find that refreshing.

Budget too high to make this show a winner

I understand that they want to make these rooms look "like a million bucks", but $25k + $5k JCP gift card for one room makes the average American disconnect from the show. Most people do not have $25k to make their room look nice, therefore cannot emotionally connect with the show premise. I think this show would be 100 times better if these designers were only given $5k or $10k, in addition to a JCP card for knick knacks and textiles. That type of budget would vastly spice up the show premise and give watchers motivation to replicate the rooms they see on the show.

Let's be honest...a new couch costs $1000, new flooring $1000, paint $200, small furniture and knick knacks $2000, textiles $500. With $5k or $10k, I think these designers could still come up great rooms and a great challenge.

I enjoy the show. I agree that the budget the designers get is too high.. I wish it was a bit lower and they incorporated designers that did more DIY. This way it can show the viewer how to recreate the designs in their own homes. I like the concept.. as many homeowners take inspiration images from magazines to decorate their own homes... just wish the budget was more accessible.

Love this show! The guest judges are impressive. It's a great resource for decorating ideas!! If you're an Elle Decor reader, this is the show for you! I've learned a few tricks for elevating a plain piece of furniture into something special. Please renew!!!

Show could be better...

This show is a good way to show your work and get noticed. Whether the designer wins or not, they're getting the recognition. It's more about the client then JUST Elle Decor. They rate the client last and the challenge first, then budget. Personally I think the order should be Challenge, Client Satisfaction, and Budget. It does not seem like the client satisfaction is relevant, since the judges already chose a winner prior to the sit down. The judges are a bit too catty and unrealistic. I thought this show would enlighten me, instead just showed me that taste is in the eye of the beholder. Which means, that even 'big' name designers might go off the rails. This reminds me why I stopped watching trading spaces, I do not want a bias program.

Engaging & easy watch

I liked that the competitors were professional, established interior designers - it made it easy to walk away feeling inspired & like I learned something about a particular style of interior design. Hope it comes back for a second season!

Exaggerated judges, rude designers

I love the idea of show #1 being Hollywood Regency. Unfortunately the designers seem to lack basic interpersonal skills, the 2 judges are so exaggerated they look like clowns.

Great descriptions and visuals are so addictive. I have watched so many times and I love the inspiration homes. Please give us more.

What a disappointment, looking for some creativity and real skill. Instead, designers copy the inspiration room given a ridiculously high budget.
