- Sookie Stackhouse: [surprised as Bill wipes off the mirror] Wait a minute. I thought you were supposed to be invisible in the mirror.
- Bill Compton: We started most of the myths about ourselves many centuries ago. If humans thought that we couldn't be seen in a mirror, it was another way for us to prove that we weren't vampires. And that way, we could stay hid.
- Sookie Stackhouse: So, what about holy water?
- Bill Compton: [splashing bath water] It's just water.
- Sookie Stackhouse: Crucifixes?
- Bill Compton: Geometry.
- Sookie Stackhouse: Garlic?
- Bill Compton: It's irritating, but that's pretty much it.
- Sookie Stackhouse: [pause, smiling] Wow. I feel a little weak.
- Bill Compton: Of course you do. I fed on your blood. You should take some vitamin B-12 to replenish.
- Sookie Stackhouse: Will I need to do that everyday?
- Bill Compton: If you don't mind, yes. And no garlic.
- Sookie Stackhouse: Is it always like this?
- Bill Compton: No, it is not.
- Sookie Stackhouse: I never thought I'd be able to...
- Bill Compton: I am honored that you chose me.
- Sookie Stackhouse: [describing her vampire experience] It felt like- It-it felt like every single care or worry or saddness I ever had was just flowin' out of me into him. And, yeah it hurt at first. But then when I relaxed, didn't hurt at all.
- Lafayette Reynolds: [chagrined] I was always too scared to let 'em bite me. I don't know, Sook, I just think that when there's blood involved, a line been crossed.
- Sookie Stackhouse: Oh, I definitely crossed a line but glad I did.
- Lafayette Reynolds: Well you go ahead on, hooker with your badass. Good for you. It ain't possible to live unless you crossin' somebody's line.
- [Sookie leaves]
- Lafayette Reynolds: Skank.
- Terry Bellefleur: [after Malcolm and his gang left] I froze up! I let everybody down. I didn't do nothin'.
- Arlene Fowler: [taking his hand] This ain't Baghdad, Terry. It's Merlotte's, okay. Ain't nothing anybody coulda done.
- Terry Bellefleur: [pauses] I'm supposed to.
- Andy Bellefleur: [about their fishing] Bet you didn't do much fishin' in Iraq.
- Terry Bellefleur: No fish in the sandbox.
- Andy Bellefleur: No wonder they're so pissed off at us. We got channel cats and Shreveport poontang. I missed this. Gettin' up before dawn, like when we were kids, watch the sun comin' up.
- [stops as they see a man running naked through the trees]
- Andy Bellefleur: That was Sam Merlotte!
- Terry Bellefleur: [sitting back] Yep. I done that before.
- Bank Manager: Well, I'm sorry, Mrs. Thornton, but it is against bank policy to extend a loan for an exorcism.
- Bill Compton: This is where I spend my days.
- [Shows Sookie where he sleeps]
- Sookie Stackhouse: Does anyone ever get in there with you?
- Bill Compton: This is not a place for you.
- Sookie Stackhouse: So, we can never sleep beside each other?
- Bill Compton: No one else knows where I rest.
- Sookie Stackhouse: [when he walks through the house] Jason, what are you doing?
- Jason Stackhouse: [breathing heavy] Heh? Huh? Nothing.
- [looking at her neck, furious]
- Jason Stackhouse: You went ahead and did it, huh? My own sister. Nothing but a damned fangbanger. And you saved it all these years for a fucking vampire.
- Sookie Stackhouse: Bill is a gentleman.
- Jason Stackhouse: He bit you!
- Sookie Stackhouse: He doesn't hit me, which is more than I can say for you!
- Jason Stackhouse: I tried to apologize for that but you wouldn't let me.
- Tara Thornton: [in the woods, walking to Miss Jeanette's] Damn! Get eatin' alive out here!
- Lettie Mae Thornton: You wanna meet the devil, you wait at the crossroads.
- Tara Thornton: Yeah, that was a mile back!
- Lettie Mae Thornton: For Miss Jeanette, you gotta go past where the devil's at.
- Amy Burley: The earth is a living organism. Makes weather, which is good for us. Plants give us the chemicals we need. Everything is connected. But you know that.
- Jason Stackhouse: Yeah, I don't like how they keep takin' stuff away. Like Pluto's not a planet anymore and a brontosaurus stopped being a dinosaur.
- Amy Burley: We honor Gaea, and seek the deepest relationship to her.
- Jason Stackhouse: Uh, yeah. Me too. And Pluto can start bein' a planet again, connected to stuff.
- Malcolm: [girlishly] You never called me back. Now, if I remembered what feelings were, mine might be hurt.
- Diane: [circling Bill] Join our nest, Bill. Forget these blood sacks.
- Liam: Yeah. Mainstreaming's for pussies.
- Diane: Let's party like we use to, huh? We used to have so much fun.
- Bill Compton: [never taking his eyes of Sookie] All right. Let's go.
- Sookie Stackhouse: What the hell are you doing?
- Bill Compton: I should be with my own.
- Sookie Stackhouse: But you're not like them. You're better than they'll ever be.
- Bill Compton: I am not human, Sookie. I am vampire.
- [leaves with Malcolm and his gang]
- Bill Compton: [pulling her close] You think about whatever you think about. It's okay. You're safe with me.
- Sam Merlotte: [stopping Lafayette before he reaches the rednecks] Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'm paying you to cook, not beat on customers.
- Lafayette Reynolds: [deadpan] Then I want a motherfuckin' raise.
- Sam Merlotte: I'll think about it. But till then, no trouble.
- Lafayette Reynolds: Look at you! All pornalicious. What kinda crazy mix you done gone and got yourself into?
- Sookie Stackhouse: [almost laughing] Can't I just be in a good mood with out it bein' a big deal?
- Uncle Bartlett: [seeing Bill suddenly] I... I don't keep cash in the house.
- Bill Compton: Oh, I'm not here for money... I'm here for Sookie.
- Jason Stackhouse: [Jason is trying to subtly score V from Longshadow who's becoming irritated] Listen I'm looking for something that's a little closer to the color of the walls in here
- Longshadow: Just tell me what the fuck you want little boy.
- Randi Sue: [on the phone with Jason] I may not know much, but I do know better than to associate myself with people of low moral character!
