Very funny moments
Faristuta16 September 2019
Like all Comedy Central Roasts, there was a mixture between comedians and non-comedians. Each participant had at least one good joke. If Jeff Ross wasn't there I would've given it a 5. There are anti-gay jokes, Asian jokes, transgender jokes, fat and black and sexist jokes so if you don't like those this roast (or any CC roast) isn't for you. There seems to be many Trump supporters coming here just to rip DiNero. Get a life guys. He had a good segment. I wish they included more comedians like Jizz-his-neck whatever his name is or Amy Schumer. But overall a solid performance.

Pretty Funny

I enjoyed it overall. The best roasters all happened to be the professional comedians: Nikki G, Caroline R, and Jeff R. Ken Jeong was okay (his Netflix special was not). Adam C was the worst but I enjoyed his rant at the end.

Ireland, really?

I found it cute how Ireland praised her mom at her daddy's roast. However.... bragging that your mom won an Academy Award for playing a high end prostitute didn't require much acting. Yes, Basinger was gorgeous in it. Actually I think Julianne Moore should have won for Boogie Nights. I guess being risqué was in that year. I believe Basinger looks earned her that award. I prefer Basinger in Batman and Eight Mile. I should give roast an 8 since Alec is fine. They should have had Lisa Lampanelli as a roaster.

As expected

Very funny, very offensive..... I loved it. Robert De Niro went all in on trump. Jeff Ross is the man.

Nikki Glaser was the best, Caroline Rhea and Jeff Ross were fine.

Not a great roast. Too many unfunny roasters and too much anti Trump propaganda especially from Robert de Niro and Chris Redd. Nikki Glaser was outstanding, her best set so far. Jeff and Caroline were ok, but the rrest was not that great. 5/10

Effing Hilarious

I see a lot of low ratings for this roast but I completely disagree. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed this one so much I came her for the sole purpose of rating it. I thought the non-comedians out-shined the actual comedians (with the exception of Nikki Glaser who killed it). Special shot out to Blake Griffin who had me in stitches.

IMO, this is arguably the best roast I've seen from Comedy Central.

Bit disappointing

I am a fan of the Comedy Central roasts so i keep an eye out each year for the next one. Unfortunately I was less than impressed with this one. There was an underlying hostility from the roastee that came through palpably on a number of occasions. Ironically Trump was a better sport during his roast than Alec Baldwin who has made a recent career from his parody of the former. It appeared that they were struggling for high quality roasters with a lot of filler between really funny material. Standouts were Jeff Ross, Sean Hayes, with some of the really great material roasting Ken Jeong. Also maybe I haven't really jumped on the trans train but Caitlyn Jenner spent the whole time talking about herself and using the night as a podium for LBGT... which is fine but didn't add much to the roast. Ireland Baldwin was a little cringe worthy at times and it appeared that Alec was struggling to keep it together with a few of her comments. Overall not the slick production we have come to expect from the CC roasts.

The Comedy Central Roast of Alec Baldwin
Prismark1022 September 2019
Comedy Central managed to slip in some footage of Alec Baldwin's roast in between the adverts. There were lots of them but by the time I fast forwarded the adverts, it was a short show.

In effect some celebrities turn up to read a script that someone else has written on an autocue and hope for some laughs. To be fair the audience in the studio did laugh mainly because they seemed to be drunk.

They crack a few jokes about Alec Baldwin and others for a few minutes and sit down. I think more jokes were aimed at Caitlyn Jenner than Baldwin who so far has kept his meat and two veg intact.

Maybe Alec was slightly embarrassed by his daughter roasting him but it took the digs in good grace.

Robert De Niro was the star turn but again his material was no Raging Bull. Adam Carolla once again showed he is no class act.

At the end Alec cracked the best jokes in his own roast.

This is the worst roast to date

The Situation's performance was better than this entire roast. Terrible cast and terrible "jokes"

Better than expected
MovieCriticOnline16 September 2019
Not as bad as I expected. Thank god for not being a total anti-trump roast, with the exception of De Niro who just can't help himself and a few others, which is a shame.

I just wish they would have some of the classic comedian roasters. Seems to be only Jeff Ross left.

BTW, I guess we are still supposed to pretend Bruce Jenner is a woman? That probably the joke of the night... 2019 we threw out reality. Bruce went on for too long.

Over all it was okay with a few hits and misses.

And then the cringeworthy Lady Gaga spot... at least Hayes made that point.

Adam Carolla was not as funny as I expected and I like him. He just seemed like to miss, but hit it big with the SJW rant.

The worse part were when they began their political speeches and you kept waiting for the punchline, but it never came. Roasting is supposed to be out of love, not spite, or hate, or be a forum for some political rant.

This is why comedy has been dying lately. Too much PC and politics, but not in a funny way. In a mean spirited hateful way.

Compared to any other previous roast this was pathetic. Trump bashing used to be funny now it's just played out.

Not sure why reviewer Dr. Farista thinks only Trump people would find this one of the worst Comedy Central roasts, when people who hate trump did like this either.

It isn't about being offended at anti-Trump, anti Obama, anti Clinton, anti Bush jokes, it is the specter of the thin skinned perpetually offended like DeNiro gaining on rants in venues that are supposed to comprise entertainment. What is going on is DeNiro has gotten unhinged (even his friends say so) and seems to think that his political rants are what is interesting or entertaining about him.

Let's not confuse the question of pC culture and comedy routines. people like Baldwin have demonstrated histories of personal views that are deeply misgynist and homophobic. Baldwin wasn't joking when he called a reporter uncovering Weinstein rapes a "toxic little que#n." Baldwin was expressing direct homophobia and defending weinstein.

Not to mention Weinsteins most famous New York to rape and molest women was a special private room at DeNiro's "Trbecca Grill." Few people were more staunch enablers of Weisntein than DiNero.

This roast was funnier than the R ob Lowe or the James Franco roasts, but that's not saying much. Makes me yearn for the old Dean Martin roasts.

Most were funny....
clkreton18 September 2019
With the exceptions of redd, jenner, or corolla. The insult humor was pretty good by people like blake griffin whom I've never heard speak before. The fact it was done in the name of charity was also decent. But some seem to not realize the more unfunny something is the more ignorant it is!

Anger is a secondary emotion. Fear is the primary emotion which anger is derived. Those people who are excessively angry and are either unable to hide it or are meticulously careful at suppressing are terrified of the world, and those in it, around them! corolla is a very scared, sad individual.

Defending prostitutes; feeding the hungry; helping to build homes for the homeless; giving all assets away to the poor. This is how Jesus Christ lived his life and he was murdered by cowards for conveying that level of strength they did not understand. This is exactly who the right wing wants to murder today for the same behavior that incites their never ending levels of intrinsic fear.
