It turns out that the researchers for this program . . .
. . . were able to track down many details and facts that overpaid university anthropologists, literary historians and global geographers were too indolent, smug and obtuse to discover for themselves. PEABODY'S IMPROBABLE HISTORY: ROBINSON CRUSOE begins by confirming that there really is a group of islands dubbed the Juan Fernandez Archipelago. Furthermore, as depicted here, Chilean real estate agents from the mainland 362 miles away intentionally exploited Mr. Crusoe's quest for Solitude, even renaming his original home island after him in an attempt to attract more tourists. This film can be seen as a desperate plea for America to assume control of Easter Island, as well as the Juan Fernandez group, the Falklands and the Galapagos region before they're totally spoiled by foreigners.
