A silly absurdist tale
planktonrules16 March 2009
This is a completely ridiculous film that is so very watchable because the plot is so silly. My advice, though, is DON'T try to think too hard--just sit back and enjoy this strange tale about a man and his moustache...and drug dealers....and pedophiles! The film begins with a lady leaving her boyfriend and according to her it's all because he grew a moustache! Now I'll admit that it wasn't the most flattering one I've ever seen, but her reaction and the reactions of EVERYONE in the film were so amazingly out of proportion that the film made me laugh. Time and again, people (including the guy's own mother) said he looked like a meth dealer or a child molester! And, as a result, everyone felt perfectly entitled to treat him like dirt. By the end, you really feel sorry for the guy.

Perhaps this film is a plea meant to tell us how silly racism and other prejudices are. Or, maybe it's just a stupid film that's meant to make you laugh. Either way, I did.

By the way, these are NOT serious complaints, but the music was really, really cheesy and the main character's mom looked about his age (and they thought that the moustache was creepy). The film makers no doubt just used what they had and it is an independent film by a young film maker, so these shortcomings are perfectly understandable.
