Things are heating up

Probably the most suspenseful outing yet. The horror and drama are still there up with the craft, the atmosphere and the great performances. But the tension and the thrills of this one are truly top notch.

Clearly the best/scariest episode
shakedatjunk2 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Anyone giving this episode low reviews checked out of the show episodes ago. This is definitely the best episode.

What makes this episode scary is that most people in real life faced with this situation would have all done what the priest & Beverly were saying and drink the poison and become a vampire. None of them at that point were under the impression what they were doing is good, but they were so scared of God and so scared of the Angel and religion that the fear created order. That's how things go in the real world as well, fear makes people conform and that's exactly what religious churches do to people. Very frightening that humans will do almost anything just because they were brought up and groomed.

Beverly is worse than Dolores Umbridge I hope she gets what's coming. The show has done a great job on making the audience hate her. I was very happy when her and the priest were shot.

Plot is finally falling into place. Story moved heavy this episode. The explanation about how the demon blood affects the human blood and how the higher the ratio the more healing/vampiric you'll be before the death was great. It's very simple but makes a lot of sense.

The ending sequence was a little disturbing and the music and atmosphere building up to it was fantastic. The heartbeat sound design really got my anxiety going a little.

I felt terrible for the sheriff being held down & forced to watch his son drink poison.

The fear on the faces of the rational people in the church was very palpable. I couldn't imagine being in that situation, the acting for them was great and makes you feel like you're there.

I never expected this to be a vampire story coming into it but I'm completely here for it. I wish the first 3 episodes were condensed into 2 however for 6 episodes total. Buildup definitely took too long to get here that's why many people checked out before this and the last episode.

Fifteen Minutes of Insanity
tristan_1926 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
How else do the gospel spread ?

Do yourself a favor and watch this absolute madness of an episode. Where do I start ? Sarah, Erin and Mildred take action in this episode. You get behind them instantly, and can relate to what they are trying to achieve. The Sheriff is also having his moment to shine, delivering a poignant backstory, and doing everything in his power to protect the island.

Now, the slow burn to the last 15 minutes is wonderfully executed, and the build-up is really felt all the way through. The ending almost plays like a Two Storms type of storyline, where you get everyone in one place, and all the drama ensues. You could almost see the play in Father Paul giving his speech and bringing on the angel. It is scary, gripping, sad, make you clench your fist, rooting for some characters, hating others. It's vicious and eclectic. The use of the gun is so interesting to watch, and leaves the viewer at the edge of his seat. And when everything slows down, the episode ends on such a cliffhanger.

So crazy.

It'd been a long-long time since I really felt like terrified and shocked because of what I saw on the screen. So crazy. The character development is perfectly done and the sound editing is unbelievable. I just love Flanagan's cinematography at all points.

I love dr. Gunning

A sense of rationalism is rare so these days. Love her character so much. The idea behind this show is phenomenal. So creative and so well written.

I plan to watch a breakdown of this show after I finish it but so far this has hit my taste buds just right.

The best episode so far
gedikreverdi3 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Riley and Erin went on a boat and had that conversation on the water and it looked really poetic by the moonlight and sight of the Milky Way. After Riley burnt in the morning sun Erin wanted to warn his patents and wanted to go to the mainland with the doctor and her mother who's getting younger and younger.

The sense of being cut-off was really eerie after the power cutoff and the ferry rides have been cancelled. The bloodshed at the church after people took the communion and woke up bloodthirsty was really impressive.

Ali was the most annoying character in this episode. No matter how they get killed, they just resurrect. The only way is to expose them to the sunlight probably.

I cannot remember the last time I was this uncomfortable watching television.

The climax is some of the most horrifying, depressing stuff I've ever seen. It's crazy yet plausible to think that, aside from all of the vampiric stuff, this really isn't too far off. People will blindly follow any religion that gets under their skin and influences them with enough fear that it just has to be believable.

This episode up to that point just kept getting better and better. Extremely claustrophobic and nail-biting to sit through. No one is safe, no one at all. This one really reveals where most of the main characters are gonna stand by the finale. Vampires and cults are scary, but religion? That's real. Grooming? That's real.

I loved the Sheriff's monologue. He's without a doubt one of the best characters in the series.

A horrifying experience and one I'll be thinking about for a long time. The final fifteen minutes are some of the most intense minutes of television I've ever seen.

Amazing

Greetings from Lithuania.

The story turned the unexpected and shocking turnn of events in 6th episode of this show. Or maybe it was expected yet it was shocking at least for me. The last 15 min. Or so were nothing short of horrowing but amazing from the craftsmanship point of view. Directing, writing of the series as well as acting is top notch.

I highly enjoy this show so far and will watch the last episode for sure.

Boy, that was wild.

Bev ensures everyone attends The Easter midnight vigil, Father Paul is ready to introduce The Angel.

Carnage, it's absolute, out and out carnage. I said I thought the opening episode or two was a little on the pedestrian side of pacing, this one is on the turbo charged side.

So many cracking scenes here, including the big moment in church, and of course the great scene where Hassan explains his reasons for being on The Island.

Terrific visuals once again, that scene where The Angel first appeared, that was a chilling moment.

I bet there were a few raised eyebrows in certain quarters after this one went out.

No idea where this will go next, but I'm intrigued, 9/10.

The best episode of the season than Episode 05
karthikkumaravel-525673 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The only episode where they came into story. Twists of events. Brilliant scenes. The mom character nailed the scene. Angel appeared in front of everyone, Sheriff's emotional scenes, Greene shooting that annoying Bev, people turning into vampires. This is what they should've did in episode 1. Thank god they came into story at least on E06.

Midnight Mass (2021)

Series

1st Season

Episode Six - Book Six: Acts of the Apostles

One thing I'm loving about the last few years is that Muslim actors and actresses are gaining more prominence in the United States, both in series and in film, and they're usually no longer being like the enemy.

I'm really rooting for Sheriff to survive, he's my favorite character (It's obvious from my name, but I'm Brazilian). The attitude of religious fanatics is funny, right?

She created chaos, but she stayed hidden so as not to be bitten.

If her death is not at least satisfactory, it will be a waste of time. Everything that is fanaticism ends the world.

Religious fanaticism (yet my superior being is the true one and stronger than yours), political fanaticism (both sides), fanaticism in my team (if a person supports a rival team they already become a mortal enemy).

This has to end urgently, it's not wrong for you to have your faith, your football team, your political side, it's wrong for you to want your truth to be the absolute truth and if someone goes against it, you hate them for it. This also applies to people who don't believe in anything,

it's scary how many comments about religious intolerance there are on Banco de Séries,

I'm baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church, but I consider myself an atheist at the moment and that doesn't mean I hate them for things. That they believe.

It's obvious that there are bad Christians, just as there are bad atheists, Buddhists, and Muslims, but there are also good people in these places.

More tolerance people.

Episode six of the first season of the Midnight Mass Miniseries watched on May 12, 2024.

Rating: 10/10.

A cataclysmic ending that had some great moments and excellently built tension. At this point I have no idea what the ending is going to be, but I'm properly invested... if not a bit shocked at the weirdness.

Stop stalling. Get on with the story.
petewood-599511 October 2021
I used to hate on Lost when they would drag out the storyline by people never asking questions or giving incomplete accounts of things. Now Netflix is dragging out the series by suddenly going full blown idiot plot.

Riley's mother screams at her son's girlfriend and accuses her of joking when she tries to explain what's going on. The girlfriend doesn't explain further. She just walks away.

Then the sheriff listens to the doctor, who has been nothing but pragmatic and sensible the entire series and refuses to take her theory seriously. Then he refuses to investigate, because he can't, because of 911. Give me a break. He has been diplomatic and investigated everything brought to him by the locals and suddenly he has reservations and is questioning the motives of probably the most reliable person on the island? Why? Because if he did his job, there wouldn't be an episode 7.

Bev, Bev, Bev!

Episode 6: The best episode as of yet and probably the best episode of the series. Finally, something with real craziness, flow, superb acting and total weirdness combined and interlaced.

The level of hypnotizing acting is just near phenomenal and it goes to Bev (Samantha Sloyan). Kudos!

Not poor but not great
RedMars20171 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand the love for this series. It's extremely slow. The religious stuff is so simplified, it's like talking to a teenager about faith. But this episode was the worse. The explanation about blood was ridiculous. A character witnessing something then blaming it on madness is such a cop-out. Not terrible, but like so much on Netflix, it's 3 episodes too long and just dragging its feet.

Character discovery
AvionPrince1625 October 2021
We know more about the characters: Riley Finn, Ali's dad, some alliances are made with the three womens. I like a lot the investigations trough the movie show. Really interesting and we find out there is a little conspiracy in the island and we are asking with the characters that understand that their trap; how they will escape of this? How it will end. This episode make us want to know the end and to see the next episode. And a terrible event happen in the end.

S1.E6 - Madness [8.6/10]
panagiotis199326 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E6) My Live Reaction / Review for Midnight Mass Season 1 Episode 6 ''Book VI: Acts of the Apostles''. The previous episode was mediocre and I gave it a rating of 6.8/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. I wonder how many vampires are there now? I really enjoyed the conversation between sheriff Hassan and Sarah Gunning about his life. What is going on? Is father Paul about to poison everyone? Wow, the angel vampire creature thing appeared for everyone to see? I didn't see that coming. So the logic is that everyone has to die to be reborn as vampires? That's insane. Absolute chaos in the church, I like it. Overall this episode was good, my rating is 8.6/10.

Mike Flanagan really messed up his career with this garbage 🗑 it's so ridiculous that no one on the island thought hhhmmm maybe this is an evil demom vampire & not an angel lmfao 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It's like are these people idiots. The ones who believed what was possibly going on should have left without telling anyone and did it discreetly. Ugh. Idiots. I could tell the outcome before it was halfway through.

this is utter crap now
GSK239 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So without Riley, I'm at a loss here.

It's weird because Riley was just this soulless guy putzing about town, not really doing anything. The camera followed him sometimes, but not as much as you would think; considering that he's the star. He's really boring.

But, he's also sort the one logical person on the island besides maybe the doctor. (The sheriff maybe, but his baggage is a bit much.)

Oddly, without Riley, I felt compelled to turn this episode off about halfway through. Even though Riley was a dullard, I could at least expect that he'll question some of the goofy crud going on around town. Especially with Erin! Ha!

Maybe he somehow comes back and I should turn it back on? I mean, there's only one more episode left, and I might as well... But, ugh, this show is so freaking lame.
