Why not having a propaganda?

This series used to be political. Each character is having a political message and talks about it from Frank to Liam. This series is built around a family that is struggling to live in Poor American Society but with a comical tone. You are watching this series for over 9 years and now you found that it doesn't talk good about Republicans and right crab. Stop putting a low rating just for the political messages and grow up!

What on earth happened to this show? What is Carl doing and who cares about the Ian and Mickey dustup?

There are still a few things that make me laugh, but Shameless has really lost its way.

I started watching this after watching The Bear and have enjoyed much of the series so far, but found there are so many loose threads, the timeliness are all over the place, and it's full of people making the dumbest, most nonsensical decisions, like Fiona with the whole property buying/selling arc(I found her incredibly annoying). I also wish they would bring back Sheila and Mandy, they were funny and interesting characters, unlike Tami (who does my head in) and Brad etc. We need the Lip, Mandy, Ian and Mickey dynamic back, also on a side note, Mandy and Lip should have ended up together. I am not enjoying this episode or any episode that is Debbie-centric, she is more annoying than Tami which is really saying something. I get that Lip got into trouble at his uni but surely it doesn't mean he can't continue with his studies elsewhere and give baby Freddie a step up in life? I also don't understand this rubbish with Frank being held hostage, obviously missed something.

This show has *always* been social commentary

I see a lot of triggered folks rating this episode (and others) purely based on not liking the social commentary of it rather than the quality of the writing. While I don't find the last few seasons of Shameless to be as stellar as the first 5 or 6, the show still ranks a solid 7/10, all else aside. My 10 is to aid in tempering the skewed cumulative.

Of course current politics play into the show, they always have. Policies affect real peoples' everyday lives (particularly poor folks) and Shameless puts a mirror up, reflecting that. If you are too dense to have picked up on the subtleties of that pre-Trump Administration, that's not the writers' fault. Also, extremely divisive politics are by virtue more in your face-- the show reflects the zeitgeist. Southsiders are likely blue voters, in case you aren't aware. Maybe if the writing is too triggering you should go watch Last Man Standing instead. *Shrug*

Every "story" is political. This is what I call LAZY writing! The writers aren't good enough to actually entertain us. They just have to push an agenda. I can watch CNN or FOX News for that! This is the worst season of Shameless .

There is no enjoyment to be had whatsoever. I've been watching this show since the beginning and i can't even recognize the show i once adored. Vapid is the only word to describe it as well and forced. Nothing feels genuine, everything is so dull and monotonous. Nothing happens at all, it's just a series of scenes that lead nowhere over the course of an hour. I honestly do not know what the writers are thinking.

The majority of people tune in just for Ian and Mickey or have stuck around almost as an obligation due to the fact that they like the characters and are hoping that the show picks up but unfortunately it hasn't and doesn't seem redeemable at this point.

This is just my opinion, i know there are people that still love this show and that is fine but it severely lacks in the quality that it used to have which is unfortunate.

Used to be funny on the edge of immorality, rudeness, unpredictability and chaos. It went onto becoming another PC and propaganda tool. Lost most of the fun... sad and useless!

I've loved this show at times. This episode is almost unwatchable. The situations are farcical. The politics are ridiculous and serve no story purpose. They have three episodes left. I can't believe this is how they wanted to end it. Should've closed it down last season. This is a disservice to the actors playing Lip, Ian, and Carl who've been fantastic throughout, and WHM. There's no longer a purpose for the show to exist, it's just a total contrivance for trite social commentary.

I've always enjoyed all the episodes of Shameless but this one is meh. Also giving it a 5 because of the world "Old White Ahole", stop saying that please! it's just cringe. i don't have a problem with abortion but stop politicizing your shows this much it never works, and stop saying "white blah blah" it's just pure cringe.

We hit Healthcare, abortion, the Mueller report, conservatives and the environment. All without adding a single ounce of gravitas to the story line.

Shameless used to respect its characters and it's audience more than this.

I get that this version of Shameless is a fictional look at a 'working' class family in Chicago and it's pretty obvious from the get go which side of the political spectrum the writers (and actors if their social feeds are anything to go by) lean heavily toward, but this episode might as well be on CNN or MSNBC as a propaganda tool for the liberally progressive minded. It's a hideously irresponsible look at a messed up healthcare system, especially regarding abortion. You'd hope that a younger generation watching this will take it for what it is, a totally misguided 'comedy', but i'm not convinced with the new breed of idiots filtering into society. Just skip if you want to avoid this trash.
