If you're here from Netflix - WATCH THIS RIGHT NOW!!
sayonbiz10 November 2020
TOTALLY IN LOVE!! I was obsessed with "Its Okay not to be Okay", and that had set such high standards that it got hard for me to move on to something else. But this truly was a league apart... Can't really say if it was probably BETTER. But it DEFINITELY felt a tad bit more cuter than that <3 This story is the most beautiful blend of MUSHY LOVE, romantic drama, high school fun, friendship, and also a bit of mystery. Even when you feel like the story gets predictable, its not! ITS WAAAY MORE THAN THAT!

The First Half made me go UwU for all the sweet and cute moments. And the second half made me cry my eyeballs out... T_T If you're a sucker for series' that are heavily-cry-able, THEN DEFINITELY HAVE YOUR TISSUES READY! Overall a great watch!

Incredibly interesting but falls short
sonia-9511113 June 2021
Performance and interest in seeing how this wraps up was the reason I carried on watching this series. It's interesting concept wise but it's laborious and flawed especially in how it wraps up at the end. Such a pity as it's potential was enormous. I was disappointed by its lack of ingenuity at the end. Worth watching but only just.

creatively self aware
imdbnonymous3 August 2021
The plot line is unique. A lot of the characters have a pure charm to them. The leads are so adorable together, but their loyalty, strong bond, and devotion for one another is truly admirable. It's such a great escape from the reality of the real world at times. The humor is lighthearted and very self aware. You can tell the script writers had a lot of fun filling the drama with cliches that make fun of kdrama stereotypes. There's also a great amount of deep tragic aspects for all the leads, which makes it super easy to root for all the characters. Be prepared to feel heart broken for them from time to time, laugh, cry, and even frustrated. For me, this is easily at least a 9/10. But I love it so much and had such an attachment to the cast, that i'm giving it a 10. Well done.

This Kdrama is so underrated. This definitely deserves an award and most especially Kim Hye Yoon, Rowoon and the actor who played as Gyeong. Idk how many times I've cried and loved in this movie. Btw, this is my first time making a tv drama/movie review! And that's because I believe this one shoukd get a lot more attention!

I love this show!!
cassidyrichardson17 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this show so much, however I think there are some complaints(?) I saw a lot of people complain about Haru's character on many sites and while I can agree on some levels, some complaints, in my opinion, were inconsiderate of his character. One complaint about his character that I've seen is lack of story and personality. I think as far as the story one goes we need to consider that in the comic book he doesn't have a name or even a face. With that being said, I feel that if he did have a storyline it wouldn't make sense. If the author of the comic book couldn't give him a face, he definitely wouldn't give him a backstory or story in general; to be fair I think there would be just as many complaints if he did have a story because in the comic he didn't thus it wouldn't logically make sense. I do feel Haru lacked personality, especially considering that 99% of the time he was in the shadow. He was adorable, however lacked emotion and it did kind of take away from the show. I also have a complaint of my own. While it was entertaining seeing them both lose their awareness, it was repetitive and unnecessary. By the time Danoh lost hers I was barely effected since I'd already seen it. I loved how they tried to change the story all the time, especially when it backfired lol. I also really love Baek Gyung's character. Seeing how as he became aware of himself he truly fell in love with Danoh was incredible (the second lead syndrome is real!) In addition, his character's backstory and life in general is so interesting and painful that everything starts to make sense; seeing as his brother knew everything because he was also aware of himself also added well. I just want to mention how adorable Yeo Joo Da is and how much I loved her character. Though Yeo Joo Da and Oh Nam Joo weren't the main romance I enjoyed watching theirs develop alongside. Overall, I found this drama very entertaining and while there's definitely things to critique I would reccomend it.

Shouldn't have been long

In all honesty this drama should have been 8-10 episodes max. It became extremely repetitive.

Rowoon Rowoon Rowoon
Giselle171026 September 2020
Honestly the first 2 episodes were so boring that I doubted why my frd recommended me this but after seeing the lead actor I understood why! Kim Seok Woo (Stage Name Rowoon of SF9) is so much more than his good looks! He's amazing at his job. Top notch acting even though he didn't have much lines. Amazing story line but female lead's nosy voice and overacting was a bit let down.

Different high school drama with a twist
crmn-2296127 January 2021
I really enjoyed watching this series, however there were some parts I found annoying, mainly the female character's voice and the "cute" plays.. She became a bit annoying to me episode by episode.

I really liked the mean boy
lmerana5 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I liked Baek gyeong and his acting so my rating is for him. There is not much chemistry that I felt between Haru and Dan Oh. Haru kept on missing and forgetting and so is Dan Oh. No matter how many romantic scenes they had, I still liked Baek Gyeong aand felt sorry for him until the end. I was also uncertain why was he able to come back. Their life continued, does that mean the writer had a different story on the book?

Unique and amazing
leahcubed21 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Eun Dan-oh (Kim Hye-yoon) has a heart condition that is terminal despite repeated operations. Despite that she is kind and hopeful that something in her life will change and her heart will last on. Her fiance, Baek Kyung (Lee Jae-wook) is the son of one her father's business partners and their parents paired the two. Eun Dan-oh's father agreed to the engagement because Dan-oh has had a crush on Baek Kyung for 10 years even though Baek Kyung can be cruel to her and does not return her feelings. Eun Dan-oh begins to have memory lapses and the sensation that she just "comes to" in various activites. As she digs to determine the source of these strange occurances, she discovers, by chance, that she is a character in a manhwa called "Secret." Not only is she in the Manhwa but she is a supporting character who must do things to aid the lead characters in falling in love. She begins to resent the role she must play and becomes determined to do things to change the story. She soon notices a boy that has no name. When she looks at the Manga she can see that he is a background character that is not even fully illustrated. Dan-oh realizes that because he is not a central part of the story he has more freedom to do things in the "offscreen" that can impact the way the plot plays out. His name is Number 13 (just number 13 alphabetically in the year-book) but, as Dan-oh begins to develop feelings for 13 (Kim Ro-woon), she give him a name. As time goes on, more of the characters discover that they are in a Manhwa and join Dan-oh in changing this up.

I started this one in October of 2019 not realizing it was still on air. I normally do not watch those that are on air as I prefer to be able to watch them all at once. 12 episodes in and I cannot wait for more episodes to post. If it continues as it is now it is going to the top of my list as one of my favorites.

I just finished watching this one. It was good the whole way through. I love the chemistry between the leads. I like the way Baek Kung realized that she would be happiest with Ha-Ru and yet is still always there for her. It had a sort of reincarnation angle to it without really meaning to. Some may not like the ending but I got it because they aren't real. If it were a comic book series I could see myself reading all the comics even if it just re-told the same story. I highly recommend it - it's very unique.

Good Enough
PennyReviews22 November 2019
" Extraordinary You " was, unexpectedly, pretty good.

The drama was cute and they handled the mystery well. The romance was really good too, especially since the couple had strong chemistry. The side characters were interesting too and they formed dynamic friendships with one another.

One thing that was a bit of a let down was the leading lady, who was a bit annoying at some times, especially when she was acting cute. Other than that, the pace was just right and they didn't introduce the romance strainght up, which was really clever. The love triangle was well made too. Plus, the drama and the mystery of the webtoon world were just great. Finally, the performances were really good and the ending was decent.

So, overall, nine out of ten.

Questions about existence
kinogems30 January 2022
This is one of the most thought provoking dramas I've ever come across. It may just seem like a romance drama on the surface(like the comic) but it's so much more than that. The characters having all human emotions and desires but not free will of their own,it's brilliantly portrayed. I love how there are so many layers in this drama. It's definitely very entertaining and I was left with a lot of questions about it and life while watching it.

Beautifully messy, heart candy if you need it
sarahksmom3 January 2020
A beautiful mess, completely constructed around plot holes. What happens when teen romance comic book supporting characters become self-aware? It's an emotional rollercoaster, like real-life adolescence is, itself, as well as a comment on the nature of reality.

The music is a character, poignantly reminding us that adolescence is not about superficiality, even as the kids get up to a fair amount of stereotypical high school goofiness.

The embedded comments on the nature of reality sneak up in the form of kaleidoscopic changes to the main character's (an extra in the comic book who rebels against her fate) school uniform that don't seem to show up on anyone else. (I'll have to watch again).

The explicit theme of an unseen cosmic force negating free will and the defiance of individuals against it is the one consistent character-driven plot thread.

it throws almost every Kdrama cliché into the story: Amnesia, half-sibling rivalry, life-threatening illness, not one but two love triangles, school bullying, marriages of convenience, class conflict, plus a big dose of time travel. THIS IS NOT NECESSARILY A BAD THING, especially since all of these tropes are dealt with self-referentially.

It sure takes its time making its point that there may be no point, but least it does so beautifully.

ROWON !!! I love you!!! Damn ROWON
cintnabizz2 February 2021
Well, I quite enjoyed watching Extraordinary You, the most important thing is that there are actors who suddenly addicted to watching them, yeah ... it's ROWON! ROWON is the most handsome guy, and of course storyline is quite interesting, every character is pretty good except Dan Oh the most annoying girl and ROWON doesn't deserve to be paired with.

Watch it if you really have nothing to do.
cryspyne10 September 2021
I had existential crisis after watching it ,we are really cartoons in god made world. How many of us are really trying to change our fate , are we really extra?

I felt really extra! I envy the actors who could play the script , live the fantasy. It was good, but i am over with young adult fiction.

Good but repetitive
blebbe22 February 2022
This drama started off really good, but halfway throughout it quickly became repetitive. I would have wanted the ending to be a little longer too, since it was a little confusing and just left me with more questions. It was still a decent drama with lovely scenes.

Waste of time
steli-os30 January 2021
The start is interesting. After the first few episodes I thought about giving it up. Then it got interesting again. Or at least I thought so. I couldn't guess what was going to happen next, but it quicly got repetitive and thus, boring. After episode 18 I started time skipping more and more. After epidosde 24 I decided I had enough. So I read about the remaining episodes. I'm glad I didn't waste any more time. Definitely not how I thought it was to end. I don't see the point of this drama. There is some good acting (mainly the female lead) and decent music but I really don't like the story at all.

The best kdrama I have watched
neyrapiljevic29 September 2020
This is by far the best kdrama I have watched and let me tell you why. It has an awesome storyline that catches your attention from the very first episode, it is very funny and makes you laugh, the characters are all likable, the actors did a great job... The love story between the charcters is amazing and seems so genuine. Overall it makes you want to bingewatch it. I was so connected to the characters, I laughed and cried with them. I was so sad when I finished watching it and for months I am unable to find a kdram as good as this one.

It will keep you hooked!!!
srijasingh-4174631 July 2021
Very intriguing narrative. Existentialism is the core theme, so essentially dark, but also beautifully wrapped in a youthful love story. The actors were phenomenal, especially our dearest Dan ho. Ha-ru was a delight to look at and the kind of partner every girl deserves... But my heart ached for Baek Kyung until the very end.

It's a beautifully layered story, and you won't get bored for a moment.

PS: the cliched comic book parts kept reminding me of Boys over Flower, the first k-drama I watched some 10 years back now, these stories sure have come a long way. No hate to the F4 though, still love those boys.
