Between John Mulaney's stand-up comedy specials, his voice-over acting in Big Mouth and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, his years of writing for Saturday Night Live, and his appearance in Broadway's Oh, Hello, is there anything he can't do? Self-described as someone who looks like he's "running for mayor of nothing" when he walks down the street, John has amassed quite a large following over the years, and it's clear why: he's one of the funniest people out there! If you have a John fan in your life, why not get them a gift inspired by him this holiday season? I've rounded up the best 15 out there so you don't have to look, because percentage-wise, it's 100 percent easier not to do things than to do them.

After creating perhaps the first ever first-person post apocalyptic zombie comic in Daybreak, Brian Ralph discusses the Netflix adaptation.
The first thing that happens in Brian Ralph's 2011 graphic novel Daybreak is a character greeting you. Yes, in the very first panel a man in ragged clothing and missing an arm says "Hello" to you, the reader. In a novel approach to perspective, the reader is the main character of Daybreak as the story has you head off on a post-apocalyptic adventure filled with common dangers and a mass of zombie-like creatures called "ghoulies."
"It was always the intention for the story to be written in the first-person point of view," Ralph, the Savannah based cartoonist and professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design (Scad) says. Daybreak was Ralph's third graphic novel after Cave In and Climbing Out and is now set to become the first to be adapted.

Haven't you heard the rumors? Nicki Minaj had fans in a frenzy over a possible collaboration with Adele, but it sounds like the superstar artists aren't actually teaming up together. During an interview this week with Entertainment Tonight, Minaj was asked about a possible collab with the "Hello" singer. "Yes and yes, yes and yes, wohoo!" Minaj replied when asked about the artists working together. "But, Adele made me swear to secrecy that I'm not allowed to tell anyone that I'm working with her, and we already shot a video, and it's an epic song." While those comments went on to make headlines around the world, it appears that Minaj was just...

Ryan Tedder has written songs for some of the most popular artists in the world: Beyoncé, Adele, Taylor Swift. Still, he’s never had an experience quite like the first time he hit the studio with Lil Nas X.
“He was holding a bunch of horse balloons that his label had given him to celebrate ‘Old Town Road,'” Tedder recalls. “As he was walking through the threshold of my studio, his phone dinged. It was Ron Perry [the head of Lil Nas X’s label, Columbia Records], saying, ‘Congrats, you are officially number one.’ He stopped, looked at his phone,...

This year, Beanie Feldstein became immortal. First in Episode Two of FX’s vampire comedy, What We Do in the Shadows, when her character gets chomped. “Wowie-zowie!” she gasps. “Is this like a Tony Robbins unleash-the-power-within thing?” The reaction is quintessentially Beanie: an innocent thrilled by the flush of adventure.

Exclusive: Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis, the screenwriting duo behind the recently released Five Feet Apart and Warner Bros’ The Curse of La Llorona, have signed on to pen the screenplay for Netflix’s film adaptation of the children’s fantasy-horror book, Nightbooks, by author J. A. White. The pic is being produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert of Ghost House Pictures and Mason Novick and Michelle Knudsen of Mxn Entertainment.
The tale follows Alex, a boy obsessed with scary stories, who is trapped by a witch in her modern, magical New York City apartment. His original hair-raising tales are the only thing keeping him safe as he desperately tries to find a way out of this twisted place.
Daughtry and Iaconis were also recently tapped to pen a feature based on the social media sensation Esther the Wonder Pig. They are repped by Verve, Lit Entertainment Group, and McKuin Frankel.

Father’s Day was celebrated by many on Sunday, including the incarcerated Bill Cosby, who called himself “America’s Dad” in an Instagram post. That label — and the message in general — wasn’t received so well by several users.
“Hey, Hey, Hey…It’s America’s Dad…I know it’s late, but to all of the Dads… It’s an honor to be called a Father, so let’s make today a renewed oath to fulfilling our purpose — strengthening our families and communities,” Cosby’s post read.
It also includes an old clip of the now-disgraced “Cosby Show” star talking about the history of slavery and racism in America.
Andrew Wyatt, a spokesperson for Cosby, told TheWrap on Monday that his client asked a Father’s Day message be posted from him on social media in support of a group called Man Up.

Above: Title lobby card for 3 Bad Men.The Museum of Modern Art in New York is in the middle of the second part of their essential series of films made by the Fox Film Corporation between 1920 and 1933. Born in Hungary in 1879 but raised in New York, William Fox (born Wilhelm Fuchs) bought his first Nickelodeon in 1904 and spent ten years as an exhibitor and distributor before setting up the Fox Film Corporation production company in 1915 in Fort Lee, New Jersey. The studio eventually moved to Hollywood and for twenty years—before merging with Twentieth Century Pictures to form 20th Century Fox in 1935—was, as MoMA says, “home to the most dazzling lineup of directorial talent in the studio era. As silent film transitioned into sound, Fox’s roster of directors included Frank Borzage, Allan Dwan, John Ford, Howard Hawks, William K. Howard, Henry King, William Cameron Menzies, F. W. Murnau,...

It’s only appropriate that the newest film from the Coen brothers, the six-part Western anthology feature “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs,” includes a wealth of new songs and tracks from some of their frequent collaborators. While the film, which stars Tim Blake Nelson, James Franco, Liam Neeson, Tom Waits, Zoe Kazan, and Bill Heck, includes some rollicking jams from a motley crew of villains and heroes from the American West, the soundtrack also includes some more gentle offerings from composer Carter Burwell.
Burwell and the Coens have worked together frequently throughout the years, and “Buster Scruggs” continues to build on a creative relationship that has spanned Coen films as classic and defining as “Blood Simple,” “Raising Arizona,” “Miller’s Crossing,” “Barton Fink,” “The Hudsucker Proxy,” and “Fargo.”

October is headed for a month of negative growth.
The third week of October (Oct 15-21) failed to provide any reprieve to the Chinese box office as it turned out to be the second quietest week in 2018, with a 25% drop week-on-week.
It is the second consecutive week-on-week decline following a disappointing weeklong National Day holiday when ticket sales dropped by 27.5% from the same period in 2017. October will probably end up as a month of negative growth.

It borrows the title of a celebratory song sung around the world on a daily basis, but Kelleigh Bannen’s “Happy Birthday,” as depicted in the Nashville native’s melancholic new video, isn’t aiming to get the party started. Penned by Bannen with Claire Douglas and Dallas Wilson, “Happy Birthday” is a delicate and wistful look at life after love and the times when a phone call has to substitute for more intimate contact. (Think Adele’s “Hello” with a touch of sweet, acoustic twang.)

New Line’s The Nun officially became the highest-grossing title in The Conjuring universe this weekend with a running global total of $330M, besting the $320M worldwide haul of The Conjuring 2 which previously owned that record.
With a net production cost of $22M, The Nun is bound for at least a $100M-plus profit after all ancillaries when you consider that The Conjuring 2 minted close to that figure off a production cost that was close to double that plus $100M P&A costs. Annabelle: Creation last year with a combined P&A and production cost of $115M saw $306.5M in global ticket sales which ultimately yielded $108.7M in black ink.
Much of The Nun‘s success has been driven by Spanish-speaking markets abroad with Mexico being the top with $21.5M followed by Brazil second with $17M. Spain is up in the top territories as well with $10.5M while Columbia has grossed $6.2M.

[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers from “The Good Doctor” Season 2, Episode 1, “Hello” — the premiere episode.]
“The Good Doctor” is back for another season of medical anomalies, cutting-edge procedures, hospital politics, and uplifting storylines. As the anti-“House,” the series is unapologetically sentimental and heartwarming thanks to its lead. Seen through the lens of Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), a doctor with autism and savant syndrome, everyday human interactions become more fraught, and in turn shine a light on the viewers’ own perceptions of the world.
In short order, the series presses reset on Shaun’s world by removing his mentor Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff) as head of the San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital and installing the much more antagonistic and ambitious former chief of surgery Dr. Marcus Andrews (Hill Harper) in his place. This challenges Shaun to not only navigate his job without the protection of his mentor but also learn to be the moral support...

Winner of 10 Tony Awards, including for best musical, actor, actress, direction, book and score, The Band’s Visit began performances Oct. 7, 2017, at Broadway’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre to universal critical raves and trophies. The production, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and book by Itamar Moses, is tied with Hello, Dolly! and Billy Elliot in third place for most Tonys for a single show, behind The Producers (12) and Hamilton (11).

Bridging the gap between famous people and everyday people has been this century’s defining celebrity movement. Without it, social media wouldn’t have been able to thrive more than any other post-millennial invention.
The attempt to humanize and ground hallowed stars has been evident in everything from Jennifer Lopez’s 2002 hit “Jenny from the Block” to magazines and websites that regularly document all the ways in which they’re just like us. Among the evidence: They fall down in public, and some actually buy their own groceries.
It’s a particularly prevalent trend in music, where, more than any other entertainment genre, celebrities cultivate personal connections to fans. “We’re rich and famous, but we’re no different from you,” they seem to be telling us as they post Instagram pics from their daily lives to back it up.
But if I was too blinded by the bling to...

Brigitte Nielsen’s pregnancy announcement at 54 is just the latest surprise in the star’s rollercoaster life.
The Danish-Italian actress is expecting her fifth child with 39-year-old Italian husband Mattia Dessi. The two have been been married since July 2006 when they tied the knot in Malta, Italy after first having an unofficial ceremony in February 2005.
Nielsen has been married five times and is a mom to four sons: Raoul Meyer Jr., 23, Douglas Meyer, 25, Killian Gastineau, 28, and Julian Winding, 34.

A lot of fans have been wondering what exactly Damon Lindelof has planned for his HBO Watchmen series, especially after some character descriptions surfaced. Those descriptions have nothing to do with anything from Alan Moore's graphic novel, which seemed to worry fans a bit.
Well, Lindelof recently shared a heartfelt letter on social media sharing his honest thoughts regarding Watchmen, his history with it, and what he plans on doing with the series. It's in this lengthy letter that he reveals the series will not be an adaptation of Alan Moore's work. It also won't be a sequel. But, it will be set in the same universe. He explains:
"We have no desire to ‘adapt’ the twelve issues Mr. Moore and Mr. Gibbons created thirty years ago. Those issues are sacred ground and will not be retread nor recreated nor reproduced nor rebooted. They will however be remixed. Because...

We laughed. We cried. We laughed some more. Thanks, Katy Perry!
The “American Idol” finale may have been a little lackluster in terms of star power, but the judge in the middle seat — when she could endure sitting in it for more than a minute — more than made up for it. Whether it was begging Bachelorette contender Becca Kufrin for her hand — and a chance to compete on the ABC show — or spinning herself silly after the revelation that Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Maddie Poppe are now a couple, or mock fawning over hottie Trevor Holmes, who showed up again in a cute video sendup of Richle’s “Hello” with Ada Vox and Noah Davis, between Perry’s snappy retorts, her physical comedy or her pop culture know-how, there was not a dull moment.

That means Cade Foehner, Michelle Sussett, Dennis Lorenzo, Gabby Barrett, Jonny Brenns, Michael J. Woodard and Catie Turner (phew!) are moving forward. Honestly, I have no complaints with these results. Like, I wish I had more to say, but I genuinely believe the best collection of humans remain.

Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year, with three decades of pop culture mashed into a cinematic tale of good vs. evil, with Easter Eggs aplenty. 80s kids and those who love the hidden figures in the background will love this haze of future past, and the trailers we’ve seen so far have given us only a glimpse of what’s in store.
Over the years the iconic and recognisable elements of our favourite movies and TV shows have been re-purposed as shorthand for audiences or marketing demographics. Want to get the attention of an 80s child? Stick the muted guitar lick of Knight Rider on and you’ll have them at Hello. It is fitting that Spielberg took on the reins of Ernie Cline’s Ready Player One and filled the big screen with so much of his own work.
