I used to love Love American style when I was a kid, and when this pilot for a revival turned up on TV, I watched it and was delighted that it was just as good as the original.
It was, as best I can recall (and it was 25 years ago, so I don't recall much) both as funny as the original show and had the surprising depth relative to other multi-story comedies like The Love Boat.
Alas, the powers that be didn't appreciate the show, which is a terrible shame. Ultimately the show is one of those tragic could-have-beens. Perhaps it was the wrong show for the time, or perhaps network executives are idiots (my theory). Ah well.
