- The team believes that it is dealing with a vigilante when two murder victims turn out to be pedophiles who were exposed as predators on a television program.
- Lawyer Sean Radley is killed by a speeding car, but his splintered bones cut up a bio-diesel supply line, which is traced to a car rented by his wife Deborah, who knew about his infidelity but denies, daughter Hannah had access to the keys. Both Sean and the next victim, snipered Tony Massaro, were 'exposed' by a TV program which claims to catch pedophiles in the act, in fact rather entrapment by a fake girl. They are both members of an Internet group, but the claimed, soon at least partially verified motives of various members prove varied with complex other links.—KGF Vissers
- Ominous music plays over the Miami landscape.
A man is talking on a cell phone when a speeding black car emerges out of nowhere, slamming into the man. Just for good measure, death on four wheels makes sure to run the man over a second time before speeding off. A crime has been committed.
Frank Tripp and Horatio Caine of Crime Scene Investigation arrive on the scene, identifying the victim as a partner at a local law firm. Frank theorizes that whoever did it must be pretty cold. "Not pretty cold, Frank," growls Caine. "Cold-blooded."
Caine examines the victim's briefcase, discovering an impression in the leather. Meanwhile, Calleigh and Alexx notice an oily substance on the man's clothes. They conclude that the victim's compound fracture punctured something underneath the car, resulting in the oil.
Frank traces the dead man's last phone call to his administrative assistant. She admits that she once had a "fling" with her boss and had called to talk about it. Turns out her deceased superior -- revealed to be a Mr. Sean Radley -- had already begun another illicit affair. The assistant shows Frank her boss's sexy chat-room exchange with a mysterious "Tiffany."
Back at the lab, Calleigh reveals to Ryan that the oily substance is actually bio-diesel, prompting Ryan to quip, "It's nice to know our killer cares about the environment."
Caine, after a brief montage, uncovers the impression on the suitcase: a partial license-plate number. Matching the numbers with cars fueled by bio-diesel, Ryan gets a shock: the killer's car was rented in the name of Deborah Radley, the dead man's wife. Caine snarls and immediately leaves to detain her.
"Why would I want to kill my husband?" asks the wife. "Does the name Tiffany ring a bell?" growls Caine.
The wife claims that the rental car had been stolen earlier in the day and she just "hadn't got around to reporting it yet." Caine, suspicious, puts in a call to Frank, promising to find the car. One montage of swooping helicopters and speeding Miami police cars later, the killer's rental is located.
Calleigh finds a piece of costume jewerly in the car that might have fallen from the driver's fingernail. She and Frank theorize that the jewelry, because of its style, probably belonged to a young woman. This deduction prompts a call to bring in the dead man's 16-year-old daughter, Hannah.
Ryan questions Hannah, who wears similar nail jewelry. The girl claims her father was her hero and that she had nothing to do with his death. Ryan, somewhat chastened, lets the girl go free. Just then another call comes in: a second body has been discovered at a nearby cafe, shot and killed.
Caine and Natalia arrive on the scene. Natalia recognizes the second dead man from the "expose show, 'Predators Among Us.'" The man was a pedophoile who was caught on the show while coming to visit a girl named Tiffany. "Did you say Tiffany?" growls Caine. Natalia thinks the shooter had an accomplice since there are no bullet casings to be found. "We could be dealing with more than one vigilante," growls Caine.
The group heads back to headquarters to watch "Predators Among Us" on the big screen and recognize both dead men. Sean Radley, it turns out, was also a pedophile caught on the show.
Ryan and Eric head to the network looking for the mysterious Tiffany -- who turns out to be the online moniker of show employee, Lou. The 30-something Lou gives the investigators the name of another man who has been talking to "Tiffany" online, even going so far as to threaten other suitors. The man's name: Kevin Weaver. A call goes out and Frank picks Weaver up.
Caine and Frank grill Weaver, who claims that he threatened the other men only to keep them away from "Tiffany," who he believes to be a teenage girl. "I didn't kill anyone," says Weaver. "I'll guess we'll see," growls Caine.
Alex and Calleigh identify the bullet in the second dead man's body as having been shot from a hunting rifle. That information seems to clear Weaver, who was picked up carrying a licensed handgun. Natalia, meanwhile, finds a print on a piece of glass under the second victim's body. It matches a man named T.J. Pratt. Calleigh and Eric head out to question the man.
Pratt says he had a fight with the second victim before he was shot. The argument was over a meeting that Pratt wanted the man to attend -- a support group for pedophiles trying to go "straight." The investigators ask to see Pratt's PDA and discover an illicit chat going on AT THAT VERY MOMENT. Eric rushes to a nearby park, where an unknown young girl has agreed to meet a presumed pedophile.
Caine and Eric arrive at the park and spot none other than Kevin Weaver. Weaver makes a break for it, but is taken down via flying tackle by Eric. Weaver claims he arrived at the park to warn the girl. He confesses that his daughter was killed by a 35-year-old man she met online. Caine, shaken, lets the man go.
Back at the lab, Eric and Ryan discover a contact lens in the original hit-and-run car. Natalia, meanwhile, finds a DNA match on a headband left in the park by the mysterious girl: Hannah Radley. Ryan and Caine arrive to question Hannah and discover that the contact also belongs to her. The girl confesses to killing her father.
Before arresting Hannah, Ryan discovers another chat taking place on Hannah's laptop. A girl named "Mallory" is about to meet a potential predator in her home. Caine rushes out to save the girl. He arrives at Mallory's home and sets up a "Predators Among Us"-style stakeout. "Mallory, I need your help," he growls.
Back at headquartes, Natalia confronts Jared, the man caught stealing bullet casings from the second murder scene. Jared said he only took the bullets so he could "sell them on eBay." A print on the casing matches the deceased Sean Radley. Since Radley was dead at the time of the second murder, all signs point to his wife, Deborah. She quickly confesses to killing the second pedophile. The mother-daughter team has been caught.
Back at Mallory's house, the still unaccounted for pedophile walks in carrying a six-pack of beer. It is none other than Lou, the "Predators Among Us" employee how had previously posed as "Tiffany." Caine stares the man down, growling: "You are supposed to be protecting these girls."
Caine asks Mallory to wait outside. He then sets his sunglasses down on the kitchen table and approaches Lou. "You were resisting arrest," growls Caine. Lou protests, but Caine is too angry to listen. Caine rushes Lou and the credits role.
