A masterpiece of lyrics and a quite memorable video

This is the song and video who started it all for me when it comes to knowing and loving The Smiths, Morrissey and Marr and their compositions. They ended before my time (for just one year) so I got to know them almost two decades later, when an MTV commercial called "The Evolution of Species" presented similar bands and sounds through the decades and the clip used to show the 1980's right after Joy Division was this one and from there I fell in love with the song, which I used to listen repeatedly and it's still one of my favorites.

While the clip doesn't have almost anything special since it's just a performance of the song - but Johnny Marr was insanely cute in this one - the music and lyrics makes it all interesting with its sweet melody, the great guitar work by Marr and Morrissey's angelical voice crying about the boy with the thorn in his side craving for love. It's one of the greatest poetic works of that decade, it's so beautiful it can't be truly described with just one or two words. I could go on but I'm gonna let you see it and hear it for yourself to discover how magnificent this is.

The clip truly depends on the song to sell it, and I guess if compared to other Smiths videos (like the ones made by Derek Jarman) this is a nice way for viewers to know the band members since they're other videos who aren't shot live on TV shows usually don't show the band all that much, it's all obscure and very artistic. But it's good anyway. 9/10.
