Patty's substitute teacher has riled her up saying how easy kids have it now compared to pioneer days. It has led to Patty betting her teacher she can go a whole week living only the pioneer lifestyle, using nothing made before 1800. She is determined to prove her teacher that kids today aren't as soft as she thinks, and it's the talk of school. Patty takes cold baths, walks everywhere, doesn't use anything with electricity, or go to anything invented after 1800. A rival, Alice (Alice Rawlings) uses Patty's situation to take away the promised cheerleading captain position from her since she can't make the track meet 22 miles away. Coach Edwards (Joe Silver) gives Patty an ultimatum, but she insists she can make what seems an impossible journey.
Yet another script influenced by "I Love Lucy" ("Pioneer Women"), and also "Father Knows Best ("Betty, the Pioneer Woman").
