This retrospective doc and the other three on the special edition release for the smash hit "Flashdance" cover a lot of interesting and informative ground. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer admits that he saw the movie as a contemporary musical. Director Adrian Lyne reveals that he didn't like the initial script because he thought it was too simplistic. Michael Nouri talks about he was also up for the Sam Peckinpah movie "The Osterman Weekend" when he auditioned for the male lead. Kyle T. Heffner confesses that he was very nervous at his audition. Editor Bud Smith talks about working around the clock. Moreover, we also learn that the only reason Jennifer Beals was in New York City where she auditioned for the lead was because she lost her luggage at the airport, Cynthia Rhodes was also considered for Alex, two weeks were spent shooting in Pittsburgh, music was used as a driving force for the narrative, four people were used altogether for Alex's climatic audition, and, despite extremely harsh reviews from critics, the movie was an enormous success at the box office. Recommended viewing for fans of the film.
