Another love story has come to an end. Yesterday's news that Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris split after 15 months certainly came as a shock to fans of both musicians far and wide. A source told us at the time that "there was no drama" between the two, while another insider insisted the the romance just seemed to fizzle out over time. And now that details about their breakup have little by little come to light, it seems to be the perfect time to reminisce about T.Swift's past endeavors into the world of dating. Joe Jonas (July 2008 – October 2008) The Jonas brother marked T.Swift's first foray into the young Hollywood world of romance and there were reports that...

Third Window Films continues its hot streak with a pair of recent releases that any fan of East Asian cinema should have on their radar. First up is Khavn's Phillippine pantomime noir musical Ruined Heart: Another Love Story Between a Criminal and a Whore, one of 2015's most unusual and successful experimental films, then, this week sees the release of Third Window's first Kitano Takeshi Blu-ray, his remarkable masterpiece Hana-Bi. We've looked at both releases, and can tell you that they are worth your time and money (and purchasing a Region B capable player if you don't already own one and live outside of the EU/Aus)....

Mr Robot, Cucumber, Inside No. 9...Here are Den Of Geek writers' top 15 TV episodes of 2015. Did your favourites make the cut?
The votes are in.
Earlier this month, over thirty of Den Of Geek's writers nominated up to five of their favourite television episodes of the year, ranked in order of preference. Points were allocated. Favourites emerged. And the sanity of the site's TV editor was offered once again as a festive sacrifice to the God of Microsoft Excel worksheets.
Over eighty individual episodes were nominated in total, and below are the fifteen that placed highest overall...
15. Rick & Morty – Total Rickall
What our writer said:
“Clip shows are traditionally seen as ways to save money, building a flimsy narrative framework of nostalgia-fuelled new footage around flashbacks to previous episodes. Somehow, Dan Harmon's shows usually manage to put more effort into spoofing this type of episode than any other episode.

Ruined Heart: Another Love Story between a Criminal and a Whore
Written by Khavn De La Cruz
Directed by Khavn De La Cruz
Philippines/Germany, 2014
A nobly attempted experiment in visual and sonic storytelling with virtually no dialogue, the film begins as an interesting and beautifully photographed (by esteemed cinematographer Christopher Doyle) silent film of sorts, which quickly becomes a showcase of filmic ideas set to a series of the director’s favourite songs that the scant plot and characters can barely hold together.
The story of Ruined Heart is as old as time, and purposefully so: a criminal (Tadanobu Asano) rescues a prostitute (Nathalia Acevedo) and they fall in love. They try to escape their life of criminality, but the local godfather (Vim Nadera) has designs on the prostitute and the star-crossed lovers try to flee the city. Alas, they are found and killed by the godfather’s henchmen.

"There’s some scenes that have been shot that are very lovely and I think people will be surprised," Malarkey, 32, tells Us. "There’s a flash forward that happens where we see Enzo with somebody and hopefully we will [...]...

Filipino director Khavn De La Cruz burst onto the radar of avant garde film lovers around the world with his 2010 feature Mondomanila. While far from a debutante with dozens of shorts and features behind him, Khavn's film made an impression, especially on our Kurt Halfyard, who remarked that the film was "gutter poetry at its finest," and "not to be missed." Unfortunately, the film kind of disappeared, so far with only a DVD release in Germany to remind people around the world that Khavn still exists. However, with his latest feature, Ruined Heart, Khavn stands up to be counted, and as long as you can groove to his beat, it's quite a ride.Ruined Heart (subtitled, "Another Love Story Between a Criminal and a Whore") treads...

Hannibal's central love story draws to a magnificent close in its season three finale. Here's Laura's review of The Wrath Of The Lamb...
This review contains spoilers.
3.13 The Wrath Of The Lamb
There are some who want to label Hannibal a love story. And maybe they are right about that. But inevitably, they want to add the proviso “Not your average love story” or some other qualifying statement. And that’s where I have to part company.
When we talk about love stories, we inevitably mean stories about falling in love, those first twinges of longing that build into a need that seems to overwhelm both parties. We almost never mean stories about loving someone. The two are not the same, and difference is pretty basic. In the film Creator (1985), Peter O’Toole’s Dr. Harry Wolper gives us the “Love Formula.” Count the number of times in a...

To cinephiles, few cinematographers get the blood truly pumping quite like beloved and Criterion-approved director of photography Christopher Doyle. Best known for his iconic work in films like Wong Kar-Wai’s In The Mood For Love (to this very day one of the greatest achievements in film photography), Doyle has honed his craft largely outside of the United States, occasionally coming stateside to work with filmmakers like Gus Van Sant (Paranoid Park) or even Barry Levinson (Liberty Heights). Working numerous times with directors like Wong Kar-Wai, as well as the likes of Zhang Yimou and Edward Yang (Doyle’s first film was Yang’s That Day, on the Beach), he has become a bastion of the world cinema scene and one of today’s most beloved photographers.

MUNICH -- Madonna's directorial debut will join indie films featuring such stars as Ben Kingsley and Moritz Bleibtreu among the 50 films in the Berlin International Film Festival's Panorama sidebar, organizers said Thursday.
Thirteen films have been confirmed for the Panorama's main program and Panorama Special, eight of them world premieres.
With three exceptions -- Japanese helmer Naoko Ogigami's Megane, starring Ryo Kase; Mare, Nossa historia de amor (Mare, Our Love Story) by Brazil's Lucia Murat; and Taiwanese entry Piao Lang Chi Ge (Drifting Flowers) from Zero Chou, 2007 winner of the Berlinale's gay film prize the Teddy -- all the entries are European productions or co-productions.
Madonna's film, Filth and Wisdom, is listed as a U.K. entry. It stars Richard E. Grant, Stephen Graham (Gangs of New York) and Eugene Hutz, the Ukrainian frontman for gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello. Hutz also had a key role alongside Elijah Wood in Everything Is Illuminated (2005).
