A Proud Moment in the Show
borowiecsminus31 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This was one of the episodes "Mad Men" submitted to the Emmy Academy, hoping to win Best Drama. A show submits six episodes, obviously what they consider to be the best of the season, for Best Drama. This was one of them. And they made the right choice.

Admittedly, the show has been much better. But that doesn't make this episode any less good. Many things happen from the Sunday before Palm Sunday to Easter. Well, actually, we only see those three Sundays (hence the title). The episode's best attribute is the acting, specifically coming from the "Big Three" of the show; Jon Hamm, January Jones, and Elizabeth Moss. They (almost) always do very well, but this was above even their standards.

The biggest problem with the episode was the interest factor. "Mad Men" is sort of slow by default, but this episode was worse than usual. But on the up-side, quality-wise, it was great all-around.

Slow but steady.

Peggy's secret...
Red_Identity8 September 2010
This is an excellent episode, one of the finest of the season. We are taken back to remembering Peggy's actions in the first season and we are taken with the question as to what happened as the consequence of Peggy and Pete's actions. Elisabeth Moss is at her best here, one of her shining moments, and it is a shame that she did not win her much deserved Emmy award. We are also faced with quite a number of dilemmas for both Peggy and her family. I think this episode takes us a bit from the advertising world and into one of the characters' lives deeply, which is not a problem at all because the show knows how to handle it's separate story lines. Let's see of what else will come for Peggy...

I confess!

Warning: Spoilers
We meet Peggy at a Sunday mass with her sister and mother. She is not too happy of being there. She decides to go out for a moment, and as she is leaving, she meets Father Gill, a new priest in the parish. Peggy is surprised when the father reveals he is going to lunch at her sister's later on. During lunch, the priest regales them with tales of his experiences in Rome; he also wants Peggy's advice about speaking to an audience.

At the Drapers, a relaxed Don and Betty are seen relaxing. The kids interrupt them as they are getting ready to have sex. Later on, little Sally prepares her daddy a potent cocktail. Little Bobby has broken his parents' bed by jumping up and down.

Roger is also spending the Sunday with his wife and daughter and her fiancée at a restaurant. Wedding is discussed. Later in the week, Roger, who happens to meet Ken and Pete entertaining a client, seated next to a gorgeous woman, Vicky. Ken makes it clear that he knows many women like Vicky, and a meeting is arranged at a hotel. Roger offers more than the amount stipulated to have a complete session with the call girl.

Don also receives the visit of Bobbie Barrett, the wife of the comedian. She has come prepared to pitch her new idea for a comedy, "Grin and Barrett" that will feature her husband. It's evident she has come for more than just a social visit. Bobbie decides to lock the door and have a nice time with Don.

Palm Sunday shows the Olson family again in church. Father Gill has been invited to the family lunch. Father Gill is gracious to Peggy and thanks her for the suggestion about how to focus his thoughts during his sermon. Peggy wants to leave and the priest offers her a ride to the subway. During the week, Peggy's sister goes to confession where she reveals her sister's pregnancy and having left the baby boy for adoption.

At the same time, Duck Phillips has learned how American Airlines meeting has been moved up to Friday. Don, who had been making pan cakes, leaves the stove unattended and Bobby gets burned as he gets too close. Don has to go to the office and Betty tells her husband to take Sally with him because she has to bring her son to the hospital. The presentation to the airline will not pay attention to the recent crash it suffered.

As the big day arrives, Duck hears his contact at American Airlines had been let go, thus killing the possibilities for Cooper-Sterling for getting the account. The staff is disappointed after working so hard just for nothing.

Bobby has a problem. He is getting in his mother's nerves. Betty asks Don to be firm with the boy, but Don sees in his son some familiar traits and tries to calm his wife by telling her about the rough time he had with his own old man growing up.

Easter Sunday shows an egg hunt in the church grounds. Father Gill approaches Peggy who has been looking at an adorable boy. He hands her a blue egg telling her it's for her 'little one', which leaves Peggy totally confused.

A great episode directed by Tim Hunter and written by Maria and Andrew Jacuemetton, all frequent collaborators of the series. The great Melinda McGraw makes an appearance as the seductive Bobbie Barrett, adding some spice to the plot. Same can be said of the Vickie of Margarite Moreau. Colin Hanks makes an impression with his Father Gill. The rest of the regulars do their best to get the viewer interested in the different stories of this episode.

Easter and Spanking
vivianla9 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Peggy is at church and she leaves and has a conversation with Father.

I love how Betty is so poised and I aspire to be like that.

Donald and Betty are in bed and Betty is wearing a pretty white nightgown.

The phone rings and Betty picks up while Don is touching her. She cancels the plans on the phone as requested by Don and he lays on top of Betty to make love. Their kids come running in and Don tells them they are "sleeping". Betty tells them to make breakfast.

Bobby burns himself and Betty takes him to the hospital while Don takes Sally to work. She looks so adorable and out of place. She drinks alcohol unknowingly.

When Father comes over to Peggy's family's home, one of the women tell Father about Peggy's career. She says how Peggy makes words as she is a copywriter for ads. She has done lipsticks and feminine products. Another women tells her not in front of Father.

Mr. Sterling pays a prostitute telling her he hasn't done this since his navy days. She says the menu has not changed. He goes in for a kiss and she stops him but he makes the payment double. From their conversation after they have done everything.

Peggy's sister goes to confess to Father about her sins. She tells about how she despises her sister for creating stress for their mother. She tells him how "she seduced a married man". That is sinful. I hope the show eventually addresses the other half sinning as well with all the males having sex out of wedlock.

Bobby keeps getting into trouble and breaking stuff. He is playing with his robot and Betty demands for Don to discipline. Don throws the robot and it breaks into pieces. They argue upstairs and push each other while the kids listen downstairs. Betty tells Don Bobby needs a spanking. Later that evening Don tells Betty his father used to beat him and it just made him want to murder his dad. Betty says she did not know this and hugs him.

Father and Peggy are outdoors with children scurrying around for Easter eggs. Father hands Peggy a blue egg and says "for the little one". Peggy realizes after a few seconds in dismay he knows about the baby.
