Ted leaping for joy as he exits Rebecca's office and hitting his forehead on the lintel was an unplanned accident which made it to the final cut. Jason had a cut on his forehead that required several stitches.
The song playing near the end of the episode is "You'll Never Walk Alone" (sung by Marcus Mumford) from the musical, Carousel (by Rodgers and Hammerstein, like Oklahoma and The King and I, mentioned earlier in the season). The song is the anthem for Liverpool FC and Celtic FC.
Ted's last line about how next year, they're going to "win the whole f*cking thing," is exactly what Jake Taylor (Tom Berenger) tells his baseball team in his inspirational locker room speech that turns things around for Cleveland in the film "Major League." This series has a minor plot similarity to "Major League" in that Rebecca was initially trying to sabotage the team.
The episode won 2 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation.
Rebecca's Dutch football quote 'every disadvantage has its advantage' (S1, E10) is one of the most famous aphorisms of the late Dutch football legend Johan Cruijff.
