Good information to be taken with a grain of salt
iliveinthehouse3 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I took some stuff from this that I find helpful but what it really is is an almost 90 minute commercial for Whole Foods. Might be a little less obvious if the CEO was not in it and we did not keep getting views of the store and the pre-packaged meals.....ummmm. Environment anyone?

This is not a scientific documentary!!!
egolilibazinga18 July 2020
Lots of opinion, no evidence. Just a bunch of people talking about their opinions about various diets. Be careful and research the science yourself.

too much false information
anjunaaa12 August 2020
Dont waste your time. There are more lies than facts in this doco. .

We're told "Potato chips & donuts have more fat than carbs" HUH? False.. Most popular brand chips & donuts have 2 or 3 times more total carbs than total fats.

Then we're told "the average saturated fat content in red meat is 40%, lean chicken breast 30%, wild salmon 20% and eggs 20%". HUH?? False, False, False and False. Any nutritional website will tell you its more like between 3% - 5% for each of these foods.

I switched it off at this point. waste of time.

From a reviewer who actually paid attention
thistuesday26 January 2022
It seems like some of the reviewers didn't pay close attention to the film. They never say you have to BE vegan. In fact, they say you don't even have to be fully plant-based. The point is to minimize animal products and maximize plants in your diet. Another reviewer wrote "the move more eat less model hasn't worked and never will" - again, the film specifically says that exercise is not where the focus of weight loss should be. Nor do they ever say eat less. It's about optimizing nutrition in your diet while minimizing empty calories. PLEASE actually pay attention to the movie if you are going to review it.

I thought it was excellent and well-informed, and even open-minded toward those who aren't interested in a fully plant-based diet.

Another Vegan propaganda movie
caspianminimal6 December 2019
I'm a very health conscious and diet focused person. This movie just adds to the already ridiculous pile of pseudoscience diet garbage about living plant based. Be a vegan. That's fine. Don't fudge facts to justify your lifestyle. In summary. Do yourself a favour. Don't watch it.

Watch with an open but critical perspective.
zabi-khu1 December 2019
I felt the film was somewhat bias with its message so I came here to see who sponsored the film, in other words who funded the message but it looks to be missing from the profile. Aside from that, I agreed with most of the film's content. Please remember to think critically and not follow blindly, good health to you all :)

The key word is Fiction
chrissonski9 January 2020
Some of the claims made in this film are pure fiction, for example the claims about fat content of fruit and veges are pure fantasy. Fact checking is recommended, as is researching those who are presenting their views here, CEOs and Authors who will gain financially from this propaganda. I'm not saying its entirely rubbish, but think critically and research about what they are feeding you.

More propaganda
catnthat3 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Early in the film, it is stated that there is scientific study to promote any idea. This is true, hence meta data over case study is always the best approach to science. I thought this was a good sign to the film's balanced approach to food and health science. However, later on most of the experts are clearly biased towards a "plant based, whole food diet" and don't really address meta data that doesn't support their approach. A plant based whole food diet is absolutely shown to be healthy through meta analysis, but a truly low carb, high fat (LCHF) diet is not really addressed and is vilified when it is. It seems to me that the experts interviewed were guilty of the cherry picking that they accused others of. For example they talk about "blue zones" and how they are mostly plant based and eat very low amounts of meat and dairy. They point to this as evidence that plant based whole foods will help you live to over 100. They neglect to mention a few of the other important and contributing factors in blue zones being low calorie diets, personal connections, and a continued sense of purpose. Also they talk about how fiber is what gives you a full feeling but neglect to address that it is fat that makes you feel satiated. Yes fiber makes you feel full, but fat makes you feel "not hungry." I have personally experienced feeling over full, but still ravenously hungry - "full" and "satiated" are not the same. It is a depressing and frustrating feeling to feel full but still be hungry! In fact the movie moves to vilify oils and saturated fat. One expert talks about how if you eat more fat, your body produces more cholesterol. He doesn't mention that cholesterol is produced in the body and if you eat a low cholesterol diet, your body will produce more to compensate for it. Towards the last 1/2 of the film, I was left wishing they had interviewed some of the heavyweights supporting a LCHF diet in terms of cancer control, diabetes control, depression control, and weight management. I was hoping this film would be balanced and enlightening.but it is just more propaganda. I wished I had read the IMDB rating and reviews first; I probably would have skipped this film if I had.

Interesting, albeit a bit biased
hellianna3 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
All experts in the movie seem to be big advocates of a whole foods plant-based diet, so it's only natural that is what they will recommend, and it can appear quite biased. The movie doesn't look quite enough into the science / studies to prove their point in my opinion, and the statements at times can seem unsubstantiated. A lot of the current scientific literature about nutrition, however seems to corroborate their claims. Found it really interesting, worth a watch.

Starts well but ends up very bad
etiennedanten17 February 2020
Vegans think that they are on a crusade and that eating a plant base diet is an activism act, for the cause, the the planet and for themselves. One of the speaker's at the end tells it exactly as it is. That is why they produce propaganda pieces to push in their mind the only legitimate way of life and diet. Sorry but its not. As per all the reviews here, people are not fooled by your propaganda. The problems is that, yes 75% of what you are saying is true but you are destroying the message because you are pushing the 25% not true and this is the best proof that you care more about the cause than about helping people eat better. I will tell you a little secret, only siths thinks in absolute.

Typos in the job titles hahahaha
Upcountry77-715-2437215 February 2020
The filmmakers misspell the word "medicine" several times throughout the film.

Now, I hated this movie. But I gave it two stars because it's in colour. Music is cheesy. Shots of the director looking off into the middle distance are over done. Narration is annoying.

Another vegan propagander
tommylangridge1 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Advertises it self as a biased documentary on diet and lifestyle. About 30 mins in it clearly becomes evident that they are extremely biased towards a plant based diet. Dont watch as extremely boring listening to the same argument over and over again.

When will someone produce a genuinely equal documentary with all sides putting there points forward so we the viewer can make an educated decision instead of another vegan ramming there personal points down your throat.

Watch it, but you'll stop half way. A person even says that fructose is not bad for you. Another person says that he lives on fruit all the time, fruit is his new candy and some other unbelievable stuff!

Carnivore
nim-rod7717 July 2021
Decent direction. Really easy to digest and packed with essentials. The stakeholders added .. dont represent the diet spectrum and are mostly plant focused..

The answer is easy to find elimination diet + test.

You will eventually reach the carnivore diet ) 95% of the time good luck.

Biased, condescending, ironically makes vegans look bad
jennodeh2 October 2023
This is a pro-vegan documentary that features some well-known vegan advocates and doctors and other random people like the CEO of Whole Foods who isn't an expert but is a billionaire elitist who wants to not give his workers health care because he thinks they aren't eating properly and a guy and a guy who looks and acts like a budget Tony Robbins knock-off.

The movie is filled with misinformation, like telling people that they can get enough fat and protein from things like strawberries and protein which is doubly stupid given that there are plants like avocado and soybeans that are good sources of those things - and this coming from supposed health experts. And of course there are tons of wild and unsubstantiated claims about how you can reverse all your problems with their approach.

The movie is also really nasty to people - dieters are painted as stupid and irresponsible and the only proper diet they approve of is expensive and very restrictive oh but you're an irresponsible idiot if you don't do it.

The takeaway is that this is obvious propaganda and that vegans are elitist rich people who think you're dumb trash which doesn't make eating a more plant-based diet appealing which is what I guess it was trying to do but I think all it accomplishes is make the people who made it happen feel better about themselves and line their pockets a bit more.

I just can't
jkhershberger21 June 2023
I just can't get over how bad this documentary is. The "experts" talk about ways of eating without knowing anything about them, at one point an "expert" said that Paleo was bad and in the same breath said he didn't even know what it meant. This is just another veganism pushing propaganda film, that tries to hide what it is. They push grain and dismiss food sensitivity, they state that low fat is healthy...have they not opened a medical journal since college? Sure, "bad" fats, but they even called out olive oil! They called Paleo a low carb ketogenic diet, I'm sorry, what? A way of eating that promotes fruit, vegetables, seeds, nuts, eggs, fish and lean meats is not keto. Why is a bariatric surgeon even part of this discussion? His solution to obesity is surgery, not diet. If what he thought about diet actually worked, he'd be out of business. While pushing his low fat plant based diet, he states that paleolithic man probably ate a mostly plant based diet, but then says why would you want to eat a Paleo Diet, they were just trying to survive to 30. So which is it? Shocker, he's vegan. Everything in this documentary is devoid of facts, it is completely opinion. So tired of these in your face Vegan, everybody else is wrong but them opinion pieces being put out there as fact Just awful.
