I'm completely floored by the quality of this show. The animation is masterful, the drama and storytelling pulls you right in and the action is on a level all its own. Just when the television landscape looked bleak this masterpiece has come along; one of the best series I've ever had the pleasure of watching.

A horrifying and tragic depiction of disease in Nature

I don't understand how they do it but every single episode has been a masterpiece, and this is no exception. The monster design is horrifyingly amazing and when paired with the stellar animation creates something truly remarkable. The ending of this episode really caught me off guard with how emotional it was

Don't Eat While Watching This

I made the mistake of casually throwing on the next episode of Primal on my computer while I sat down to eat lunch... Needless to say about 5 minutes to this one in I had to pause it, because jeez this is absolutely disgusting animation... It is however also one of the most powerful pieces of animation and sound design I've seen in ages.
I was getting goosebumps at the end not gonna lie, the roars of the animals along with the brutality of it all really cuts to the bone, so to speak. Tartakovsky is a legend to me so I have some bias, but this is genuinely great unapologetic brutal storytelling the likes of which are so rare nowadays, and that sucks to say.

Edgy version of Cold death without Kino

The story feels like it is being told by an edgy teenager that likes zombies like in the 2010's. And ultimately feels like a more lame and cheap version than cold death. The animation of this episode however is quite impressive.
By far the worst episode of the season, I tought they could had done something different. Shock factor doesnt make things better.

Amazing form to show a basic plague but into a new old form

Warning: Spoilers
I saw that some ppl didn t get the message of the episode and asked why are there no other dinos with the plague, because they didn t survive. The patient 1 killed all of them full on, if he wouldn t kill them another infected would do it. For example there was patient 1 and patient 2,3,4. Patient 1 killed 2,3,4 if he would ve died in the proces by let's say patient 2, from that point on patient 2 would ve killed patients 3 and 4 and so on.
It's rabid or so called "plague of madness" that's making the dino act like this, him beeing thirsty, not feeling pain and not killing to eat but to kill, that's rabid.
I find it amazing how they placed the action in that crater so they could have the oportunity at the end to close the only infected alive there alone, but what's scary is the fact that the infected will die, he cannot live forever, but his body is still contagious and if another dino gonna eat his flesh he gonna get infected and spread it.

The most creative episode so far, ruined by the execution

Warning: Spoilers
I'm gonna be honest, I've hated the primal show so far. The two main characters lack any depth, and every episode is formulaic. That being said, I was looking forward to this episode because the concept was unique. However they executed the concept of zombie dinosaurs in the laziest way possible.
First of all they never explain how the "patient 0" dinosaur even got the disease. Second I find it very unlikely that the dinosaur that got infected never spread it to anyone else. It literally contaminated the water with its blood, and it bit a bunch of the other dinosaurs. How come it's the only zombie? Oh I know, it's so that spear and fang aren't put in an impossible situation, so the writers only made there be one zombie dinosaur. Seriously this was the part that disappointed me the most. I expected a zombie apocalypse, not just one zombie! Where's the fun in that?
Also what infuriated me is how dumb spear and fang were acting. I swear they don't deserve to live through all this. Somehow they're able to run away from the zombie for like ten minutes without losing stamina? They never got tired once, how convenient. Then they lure the zombie off a cliff and then assume it's dead, so they wake it up again. And spear has a stupid nightmare that lasts way too long and isn't even scary. Yeah we get it, spear is scared. I think we got that already from the scared look on his face. You don't need to show us his nightmares for us to understand that he's scared.
Then spear and fang escape by running through a crack that's too small for the dinosaur to fit through. Then they stand there like idiots, practically begging for the zombie to squeeze through the hole. These characters are supposed to be smart, why aren't they running away?! Then when they finally do run away, the dinosaur breaks through the crack and chases them for the third time. I swear, 90% of this episode is just spear and fang running, it's surprisingly boring. They lure the dinosaur into falling into lava, and then it melts to death. For some reason emotional and sad music starts playing. Is this a joke? Why is this supposed to be sad? Animals in nature die! Ugh, this reminded me of that horrible mammoth episode. At least it wasn't as bad as that one.
Overall, this was another awful episode of primal. Great concept, terrible execution. Spear and fang running away got boring very quickly. You'd think them running away from a zombie dinosaur would be entertaining. I still don't know why this show is so high praised. I'm gonna be generous and give it a 4/10 for the great animation and cool design of the zombie.
