Actor Ryan Corr revealed his greatest fear while he looked back on his experience on set for his film Sting in his new uInterview.
“The premise is, a giant alien spider from outer space finds its way into a New York City apartment, and more particularly to a young Charlotte, who she befriends, and as she sort of raises this spider and it grows,” Corr told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “The problems in the nuclear family and the issues that are possibly in the relationships there start to grow as well. They have to come together to fight this alien spider and the elements that are coming up in the family.
Of his character Ethan, Corr said, “Ethan is Charlotte’s stepfather and Heather’s husband. For me, this film was an homage to stepparents. I’ve grown up myself with two wonderful stepparents, and I always thought the dynamic was really interesting.

The premiere of Amazon’s Back to the Rafters last month and the impending production of Netflix’s Heartbreak High offer insight into how international platforms approach local IP with cultural resonance.
Whereas one picks up the story of a family six years after their last outing, the other will reimagine a world from before the turn of the century, sharing only its title and young adult genre with the original.
The local and international popularity of both series – Heartbreak High was sold to more than 80 countries in the ’90s and Packed to the Rafters to a number of European and Asian territories, as well as South Africa – makes them appealing for platforms like Netflix and Amazon with global audiences. However, the process of bringing back an old favourite is not always a smooth one.

Arclight Films’ Chasing Wonders has locked North American distribution with Gravitas on its coming of age film, Chasing Wonders directed by Paul Meins. A theatrical and on-demand release is scheduled for June 4. Arclight is handling global sales for the pic.
Set in the lush wine country landscapes of Australia and Spain, the heart-warming tale follows 12-year-old Savino, who, encouraged by his maternal grandfather to live a life of hope and possibility, takes off on the adventure of a lifetime to find the magical Emu Plains. His journey leads him to the heart of the human condition – learning to understand our parents’ past but not to be defined by it.
The pic stars Paz Vega, Oscar nominee Edward James Olmos, Quim Gutierrez, Carmen Maura, Goya award-winner Antonio de la Torre, Australia’s Jessica Marais, and making his feature film debut, Michael Crisafulli as Savino.
Australian award-winning screenwriter Judy Morris wrote the screenplay, which was shot over a five-year period.
Chasing Wonders made its World Premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival last year and has been selected for the Gold Coast Film Festival, where it will screen on April 18 and 22.
“Chasing Wonders is an uplifting story of familial love and loss and a powerful exploration of the path to understanding and acceptance. This heartwarming film with top international stars and spectacular landscapes is exactly what audiences yearn for. We are thrilled to have our longtime trusted partners at Gravitas Ventures bringing the film to North American audiences and are certain that their team will make this beautiful film shine bright,” said Arclight Films Chairman Gary Hamilton.
“With an ensemble that includes veteran screen icons alongside exciting new talent, the filmmakers craft an inspiring coming of age story on a canvas of breathtaking vistas across multiple continents. We look forward to North American audiences taking the journey,” said Tony Piantedosi, VP of Acquisitions at Gravitas Ventures.
Hianlo Films presents Chasing Wonders in association with the South Australian Film Corporation, a Met Film and Sla Films production. Anna Vincent (I Am Mother), Stewart Le Marechal (Swimming With Men), Anna Mohr-Pietsch (Swimming With Men), Hilton Nathanson, and Louise Nathanson are producers. Jonny Persey (The Mercy) and Timothy White are EPs.

Hugh Sheridan and Blake Northfield.
Back to the Rafters and Five Bedrooms star Hugh Sheridan plans to make his feature writing and directing debut on The Dance, a coming-of-age drama which follows a teenager who fulfills his dream of joining the Australian Ballet School.
Produced by Bronte Pictures’ Blake Northfield, the film will explore love, death, sexuality, drugs and loneliness set in the highly competitive world of theatre.
As a graduate of Nida, Vca and the Australian Ballet School, Sheridan says he could have set the story within any of these schools. He chose the Ballet School because he believes dancers are the most underrated athletes and artists in Australia.
“Writing The Dance has been an extremely cathartic experience for me and it was ultimately Covid lockdown that allowed me the time to pen a story that I’d had in me for many years,” says the actor/musician whose credits include House Husbands,...

Filming has got under way in Adelaide on Australian comedy-drama series “Aftertaste.” It is the first major production to shoot in the state of South Australia since the coronavirus shut-down, and comes as a state of disaster and a nighttime curfew are declared in neighboring Victoria state, which includes Melbourne.
The six-part Closer Productions show will shoot for five weeks in Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills. It makes use of 110 cast and crew members, including 10 from out of state, and 200 extras.
To get into production, the show used a risk assessment tool developed by consultancy firm Deloitte and overseen by the South Australia Film Corporation. “The Risk Assessment Tool has been instrumental in navigating the path back to production, and providing the framework and structure needed to get this production up and running within Covid-Safe guidelines,” said CEO of the South Australian Film Corporation Kate Croser.

Philip Quast and Hermione Norris in ‘Between Two Worlds’.
After creating five of Australia’s most popular dramas – Always Greener, All Saints, Packed to the Rafters, Winners & Losers and A Place to Call Home – in a stellar 37-year career, Bevan Lee felt he had reached a crossroad.
If he followed one path, he would simply rest on his laurels and be content with his legacy. The other, far more attractive and challenging option: Create a drama unlike anything he’d ever done and which breaks the traditional rules of the genre.
Hence was born Between Two Worlds, a 10-part Seven Studios production which premieres on Seven on Sunday.
The first episode depicts two disparate and seemingly disconnected worlds, typified by one family of extreme wealth and privilege, the other middleclass and suburban.

Stan Original ‘I Am Woman.’ (Photo credit: Lisa Tomasetti).
Stan has warned the Federal Government that mandating minimum levels of spending on Australian content would undermine the streaming industry’s ability to generate the revenues needed to invest in high-quality Australian productions.
Similarly, Amazon Prime Video opposes regulation that would oblige it to screen a prescribed number of hours of Australian programming on its service, claiming that would reduce the non-Australian content selection or lead to the “inclusion of low quality or low viewership content.”
In their submissions to the government’s ‘Supporting Australian Stories on Our Screens’ options paper review posted online this week, both endorse Netflix’s call for a voluntary investment model.

Pre-production has started on “Aftertaste,” an Australian comedy drama series starring Erik Thompson as a celebrity chef who has fallen from grace. The show is the first to have made use of a production risk assessment tool for the post-coronavirus era.
A Closer Productions show, “Aftertaste” will shoot in Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills, with broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation next year. Thompson will also produce alongside Rebecca Summerton and Matt Bate.
The Risk Assessment Tool was commissioned by the South Australia Film Corporation and developed by Deloitte Risk Advisory. It is intended to assist producers to assess Covid-19 risk management issues for their production, and get cameras rolling again more quickly and easily, in conjunction with national Covid-safe guidelines.
“We understand how essential this tool is for producers to get their productions back on track, as risk assessment is a requirement of financiers,” said Safc CEO Kate Croser.

While much of Australia’s film and TV slate is currently being held up over insurance matters, production has now begun near Sydney on low budget feature “Dark Noise.” It is one of the first local films in Australia to start since the end of nationwide coronavirus lockdowns.
The film features the rising star of the British Shakespearean stage Imogen Sage (BBC TV’ “Doctors”) as a young woman foley artist alone in a forest listening for frogs. She hears something she shouldn’t have and stumbles upon a cocaine farm. Other cast includes features Callan Colley (“The Letdown”), Brett Rogers (“Rake”) and Australia’s Leah Vandenberg and Lauren Clair (“Packed To The Rafters,” “Underbelly”).

Erik Thomson (Photo: Alex Vaughan).
In a perfect world Erik Thomson would have just wrapped filming of Amazon Prime’s Back to the Rafters and have started pre-production on the ABC dramedy Yes, Chef!
Stateless star Fayssal Bazzi would be preparing to go to the Us to meet with agents and producers and looking forward to the May release of Paul Ireland’s Measure or Measure, in which he co-stars with Hugo Weaving.
After roles in Amazon Studios’ historical drama The Underground Railroad and the BBC and Netflix serial-killer drama The Serpent, Damon Herriman was set to star in a film in New Zealand.
Roz Hammond was getting ready to perform alongside Lachy Hulme in director Tyran Parke’s stage adaptation of Ken Kesey’s novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at Her Majesty’s in May.
All of that is now on hold, of course, curtailed by the Covid-19 crisis.

Directed by Scott Major, the miniseries will feature Aussie Brett Tucker and former EastEnders star Charlie Brooks as a couple in the UK who seek a fresh start in Australia after infidelity threatens their marriage.
That’s until they hire a nanny (yet to be cast), who isn’t as innocent as she appears and there are deadly consequences.

Kris Mrksa.
Kris Mrksa loves writing Australian dramas but his primary focus now is creating projects for UK producers – and cracking the Us market.
The in-demand screenwriter has created two miniseries for the UK’s New Pictures and is developing two shows for the same producer and another for Lookout Point and Expanded Media.
After signing with ICM he is also looking at opportunities in the Us. “Nothing firm yet, but I have been talking to a few people and there are some interesting projects being discussed,” he tells If.
His first UK commission was Requiem, a six-part supernatural drama/thriller which starred Lydia Wilson as an accomplished cellist whose life is turned upside down after her mother’s suicide, produced by New Pictures for BBC One and Netflix.

Justin Rosniak in ‘Les Norton’ (Photo: Tony Mott).
Justin Rosniak has been cast as crooks and other wayward types so often in his career he is relishing the opportunity to play more upstanding characters.
“There is not a lot of diversity in characters in Australia so once you get locked into something, some people only see you as one thing,” he tells If. “I often long to get to show my range a bit more, or a softer side.
“So it’s been good that in the last couple of years I have started to get roles that push me in other directions and allow me to add a few different layers.”
In the second season of Mr Inbetween, the comedy/drama created by and starring Scott Ryan as criminal-for-hire Ray Shoesmith, he gets the chance to show a different side to his character Gary, Ray’s best friend.

Ben Mingay.
When Ben Mingay awoke at 4 o’clock one morning, he checked his emails and saw he’d been sent the scripts for an ABC TV comedy drama.
The 1989-set series created by UK-based Australian comedian Sarah Kendall is set in Newcastle, which struck a chord with the Novocastrian-born actor/performer.
He started reading, laughing so loud and so often he woke up his wife, and didn’t stop until he had read all five episodes of Frayed he’d been sent.
Ben was asked to audition for the role of Jim, the brother of Kendall’s Sammy, a fabulously wealthy London housewife. Sammy is forced to forced to return to her Newcastle hometown with her two kids after her husband died while having sex with a prostitute.

Chris Oliver-Taylor and Liz Doran.
Fremantle, Micanical Media and 2Jons are teaming up for Barons, an international surfing drama for the ABC.

Liz Doran leads the writing team which includes Matt Cameron and Marieke Hardy.

At the moment, there are two things that moviegoers want more than almost anything else in the world: Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League, and the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War. Truthfully, it’s tough to say which is in higher demand, and while we still don’t know if the former even exists, the latter is definitely out there, and it’ll be with us real soon. How soon, you ask? Well, if the Russo brothers are to be believed, it could arrive on December 3rd.
Admittedly, that remains unconfirmed by the studio, but here to add even more fuel to the fire is not so savvy social media user Mark Ruffalo, who plays Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor, who recently and accidentally leaked the first 10 minutes of Thor: Ragnarok onto Instagram, took to Twitter earlier today to drop the following tease: Something big is coming.

Can we consider, for a moment, the concept of patience? Perhaps lend some thought to the idea that the only thing to be gained from leaked trailers and images of highly anticipated films is more frustration? These are the questions that spring to mind as we wrestle with the fact that some new screenshots from the Avengers: Infinity War trailer have leaked online today (no doubt pulled from that footage we saw earlier) and they give us our best look yet at Captain America’s new beard.
Now, here’s the thing. Cap dispensing with shaving is not a revelation, in and of itself. It certainly is an interesting choice for the character though, and leads to understandable speculation...

Acting as the culmination of just about everything that we’ve seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, Avengers: Infinity War is not only going to be an absolutely massive motion picture, but it’s probably also the most important film that the studio’s ever made. Set to bring together nearly all of the franchise’s characters as they unite to take on Thanos, it’s going to be an event movie unlike any other and could just be one of the biggest blockbusters of all-time.
So, with that in mind, you’d think that Marvel would want to rev up the promotional machine well in advance to ensure that the hype levels are high as we inch closer and closer to Infinity War‘s release, right? As anticipation continues to mount for the very first Avengers: Infinity War trailer, which will apparently be here before the year’s end, fans are understandably eager for just about anything from the film that they can get their hands on. Unfortunately though, there hasn’t been much. At least, not in the way of official material. But what we have seen a bit of is promo art.
In fact, that’s exactly what we’ve got for you today, as a new piece has surfaced that shows off some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in all their glory. Seen in the gallery below are Captain America, Black Widow and Falcon, with the first two sporting their new looks for the film. Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, meanwhile, appears mostly the same as the last time we saw him, but fans will no doubt appreciate getting a glimpse of the trio regardless.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige isn’t one to divulge too much, too soon – hence the level of secrecy swirling around Phase 4 – but when pressed about the status of Avengers: Infinity War‘s first teaser, Feige confirmed that said promo should be online “before the end of the year.” And not much else.
Alas, one would assume that Marvel will piggyback on Thor: Ragnarok‘s release in November, particularly when you consider that December belongs to a little-known sequel called Star Wars: The Last Jedi. With pedal firmly on metal, the studio is slowly beginning to prepare for the November launch of Thor: Ragnarok which, perhaps more so than any other Marvel film before it, serves as a galactic primer for Avengers: Infinity War.
Well, unfortunately, that hasn’t exactly been the case. Those who were lucky enough to attend San Diego Comic-Con got a taste of the first trailer,...

Is there a bigger, more impressive blockbuster currently in the works than Avengers: Infinity War?
Sure, you have Warner’s imminent Justice League and the mooted Godzilla Vs. Kong, but in the realm of Hollywood’s shared universes, Infinity War stands head and burly shoulders above the rest because it’s about to execute on a vision that began almost ten years ago with the release of Jon Favreau’s Iron Man. Toss in a post-credits scene with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, now an McU mainstay, and the rest is history.
Indeed, when counting the yet-to-be-released Thor: Ragnarok and Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War will be the 19th instalment in Marvel’s grand universe, with everyone involved deeming Iw to be a superhero movie unlike any other. And even from the outside looking in, few would contest such a tantalizing claim.
But with the flick just eight months away now,...

In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos will finally step out of the shadows and take on the combined forces of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. After various teaser appearances and cameos dating all the way back to 2012’s The Avengers, there’s a lot of hype for the Mad Titan and he’s all set to be the biggest, baddest enemy the heroes of the Marvel universe have ever faced. We’re sure that the titular team will ultimately be able to take him down, but they’re certainly going to have a tough time doing so.
Not only will Thanos have the Black Order there to help him, but he’ll also be in possession of the incredibly powerful Infinity Gauntlet, which will be fully equipped by the time the film rolls around. It’ll essentially allow the uber villain to wreak havoc and do just about anything he wants, and...

San Diego Comic-Con has now come and gone for another year, but fans are still reeling from what was an overwhelming weekend of content, be it in the form of new trailers, photos, posters, etc. for most of Hollywood’s biggest upcoming releases. Undoubtedly, one of the titles to draw the most attention – and not surprisingly – was Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War, the superhero film to end all superhero films.
From what we understand, nearly every character still breathing in the McU will be returning for the pic, including Vision (Paul Bettany) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), who are expected to have fairly large roles in the blockbuster. In fact, we’ve already had set photos (see the gallery below) showing the two getting very close indeed, with a few of the shots suggesting that Vision will have his Infinity Stone removed, causing him to assume a more human form.

With Thor: Ragnarok quickly approaching, and looking to be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s strongest efforts to date, might we add, it’s almost about time to start getting excited for the studio’s 2018 slate. And while projects like Ant-Man and the Wasp and Black Panther are certainly worth paying attention to, it’s undoubtedly Avengers: Infinity War that’s going to be hogging the lion’s share of the spotlight come next year.
Joe and Anthony Russo’s landmark event movie is currently on course for a release on May 4th, 2018, and it’ll herald the advent of the Mad Titan and his squadron of galactic accomplices. Yes, after much foreshadowing, we know Thanos to be the primary antagonist of the Russo Brothers’ ensemble piece, who wages an Infinity War to bring ‘balance’ back to the universe.
On board for the role of the mega villain is none other than Josh Brolin,...

As you surely know by now, Thanos is set to be the big bad of the movie, and with the Guardians of the Galaxy also getting in on the fun, you’d think that a lot of the action will take place in space, right? Well, maybe not. We’ll no doubt see our merry band of heroes leaving Earth for at least part of the film, that much has been confirmed, but according to Joe Russo,...
