Status Quo (#14.11)

Warning: Spoilers
I was kind of rooting for Dr. Pratt. He sure deserves more recognition, so I didn't see him wanting to leave as giving up, but as he said going for better opportunities. And yet I was happy to see him stay. Just because I like the character and would hate to see him go as well. It is already so close to the end and everyone seems to be leaving.

And we got Jeanie to visit! Well, it was not a good visit. The kid she adopted ended up having AIDS. I have kind of forgotten how exactly she left the hospital, but they did remind us about it through the episode. We also got to hear some updates about other past characters. Like Jeanie's ex died...And Dough and Carol are happy with their kids. It was kind of crazy to hear that Jeanie was diagnosed 12 years ago.

Boulet is Back

Warning: Spoilers
It was nice to see Jeanie back in the E. R. I was sad that her and Reggie had split. It would have been nice to see her in a successful relationship and career at the same time. They were so sweet when they met.

It was also a huge missed opportunity to not have her meet up with Dr. Anspaugh, especially after their wonderful, touching scenes together with his dying son earlier in the series.

The rest of the episode was ok. I can see Sam and Gates are heading towards each other, but I can't say that I care.

Neela's coudin Jaspreet was fun! I love how they can get away with saying 'wanker' on U. S TV. I liked the candid photos she took of the staff.

Haleh mentioned that Carter was due a visit in the Spring. I hope so as I sorely miss the old cast.

The worst idea for a guest role

Warning: Spoilers
The worst idea for a guest role was bringing back Jeanie. The time away from the ER did not change her abrasive, spiteful attitude. She ruined yet another marriage.

The pregnant soldier was probably lying, yet Gates defended her and even tried to convince her husband of the probable lie. The "I can't prove it" line exposes her, as DNA testing would be sufficient and "fraternization" would be a sufficient accusation.

Awful..

Warning: Spoilers
Now there is process to decide who is chief? Anspar can't just give it to to the new surfer doctor who started the day before on a whim...?

Yet none of Pratts misdemeanours are brought up, he's still on probation and lucky to have a licence to practice due to the clinic? Punching out someone in the ambulance bay, surely led to assault charges? He'd be laughed out of the room.

On the rape, surely the doctors must call the police or military police? Legally they don't have a choice. What are they doing?

Everytime I see Sam I'm just thinking she's a cold blooded killer who should be in jail. Maybe a non corrupt DA will eventually bring her to justice? That would make the show far more entertaining at this point.

Jeanie isn't the worst cameo at least. But it all feels so forced and doesn't work at all emotionally for me.

At this point the shows writing is totally incoherent.

Such a shame, the first 8 seasons were so great. Better if they just destroyed all record of what happened after.
