The Electric Dreamer: Remembering Philip K. Dick (2007)
*** 1/2 (out of 4)
Friends, family members and other authors discuss Philip K. Dick, the man who's novel would turn into BLADE RUNNER, which 30th Anniversary release is where you can find this featurette. We start off learning about how, originally, Dick wasn't really accepted or looked at as a serious writer. We learn about his greatest creative period and then we learn about how he eventually got the respect he deserved. From here we also get to hear about some of his stories that eventually turned into movies including BLADE RUNNER, TOTAL RECALL and MINORITY REPORT. Overall, at just 14-minutes, there's certainly nothing ground-breaking here but it's a great and highly entertaining way to get to know the work of Dick and it's certainly a great guide for what stories one should check out. You get a pretty good idea of what Dick was like as a person as we're told some great stories from his daughter but there's also a look at the importance of his work.
