Close relationships on reality shows between gay men and straight men are rare and tend to draw a lot of attention (see e.g. Ronnie Kroell and Ben Dichiara of Make Me a Supermodel; Charlie & Marcus of Survivor: Gabon) .
This season of Big Brother is making its own contribution to the “hobromance” genre with Frankie Grande and Zach Rance
Sweet, but already there may be trouble in paradise with these two lovebirds

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, we’re lobbing queries left and right about shows including True Blood, Pretty Little Lairs, Teen Wolf, Drunk History and more!
1 | So that vertical runway on America Next’s Top Model… How was that not a big enough liability to be vetoed at the pitch stage? And is the guys and girls edition making you miss Bravo’s Make Me A Supermodel something fierce?
2 | Was True Blood‘s Terry really such a beloved character that he warranted not only the longest funeral in television history,...

When he's not posing for high-fashion photo shoots or spending time with his wife and son, British-born Jonathan Waud is a general contractor, hauling lumber and cement at job sites around his adopted home of Los Angeles.
Starting Monday, June 17, he's featured as "the foreman" in the new TLC series "Honey Do," in which he joins forces with Kevin "the construction man," Ben "the painter" and Dan "the handyman" to help hapless husbands find their natural masculine drive to fix things, thereby becoming heroes to their wives.
Sitting at a Hollywood diner in a plaid shirt, jeans and dusty work boots, Waud says, "A guy that can fix something around the house, that's your basis for everything. You can build on that. Say you're in computing, you can take that to your computing job.
"The homes we're going into, these guys are brilliant. They're incredibly intelligent, well-read guys," Waud tells Zap2it.

So You Think You Can Dance returns tonight, and what can I say? You’d have to be out of your mind to dislike this show. It’s filled with amazing talent that changes wildly from year to year, and the show’s celebration of dance culture is — for a Fox show going into its tenth season — alarmingly cool.
Today let’s psych ourselves for the new season with a quick lesson in the show’s best perks. Here are the five best things about So You Think You Can Dance.
5. The weirdo auditioners aren’t trainwrecks (usually).
Unlike American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance routinely offers up strange auditioners who, while perhaps not versatile enough for the Top 10, are interesting enough that we don’t pity their bizarreness. In fact, it’s the unconventional dancers who make Sytycd something of an educational experience. Take for instance Princess Lockeroo,...

“Bob’s New Suit,” the debut film from writer/director Alan Howard, will be out on DVD March 26. The Breaking Glass Pictures character-driven film stars Hunter S. Bodine (“The Casserole Club”), model/actress Jenny Shimizu (Bravo’s “Make Me a Supermodel,” “Dante’s Cove”), John Bennett Perry (“Fools Rush In” with son Matthew Perry, “Veronica Mars”), Charlie Babcock (“Desperate Housewives”) and Shay Astar (“The Lost,” “3rd Rock from the Sun”). “Bob’s New Suit” is described as a “bright fable contemplating the legacy of the 1960′s cultural wars in a contemporary working-class family facing the battle of the sexes, gender identity, radical politics, and a threatened economy.” “The Goodlows are a typical American family. The CW has renewed its unkillable reality franchise "America's Next Top Model" for an astounding 20th Cycle. After years and years and years of refusing to tinker with the format at all, "America's Next Top Model" will introduce yet another twist in Cycle 20: For the first time (on a show that isn't called "Make Me a Supermodel"), male models and female models will be living in the same house and competing for the Top Model crown. The injection of men into the mix follows such recent "Top Model" innovations as: Short models, All-Stars, random British people and college...

Rhys Uhlich, a winner of Make Me a Supermodel in 2008, will appear as Scotty Boland, a love interest for newcomer Georgia Brooks (Saskia Hampele). America's Next Top Model: Four Theme Ideas for Future Cycles
After cycle 16 of America's Next Top Model, Aunt Tyra announced that there'd be no more "normal cycles", opting instead to center each successive round of modeling hi-jinx around a particular theme. First came the all-star cycle, which found Top Model verging on self-parody and ended with one of the most confounding reality finales I've ever seen, with the much improved British Invasion cycle following last February. With the college edition set to premiere soon, I thought that I'd offer up the Haus of TyTy Baby a few suggestions of themes for future cycles, should the show reach its 20th birthday in the near future.
1. Plus-size
Even though we have a "plus girl" winner in the annals of Top Model history (cycle 10's Whitney), nobody's going to mistake the show for being a haven for those that may not fit the sample clothes.

Celebrity Big Brother's Jasmine Lennard has spoken about her affair with Simon Cowell. The 27-year-old fashion model, who shot to fame in 2005 on TV's popular Make Me a Supermodel, allegedly had a six-month fling with the 52-year-old X Factor boss. Discussing the relationship, Lennard vowed that "the truth will come out in the end". "I don't have anything bad to say," she told Coleen Nolan. "That person was such a huge part of my life. I don't want my life to be defined by it. "The way the relationship has gone down in history (more)...

Dim the house lights and change into something more comfortable — onstage, if you don't mind — because the trailer for Steven Soderbergh's highly anticipated male stripper movie Magic Mike has finally arrived. It's The Avengers of beefcake, and it's got Channing Tatum taking his clothes off, doing front-flips, spinning around like a whirling dervish, and generally winning every season ever broadcast of So You Think You Can Dance, Make Me a Supermodel, Teen Wolf, Grey's Anatomy, and True Blood. That some of those shows cannot even be won matters not. All that matters is that you've got a Tatumpalooza, you've got Matthew McConaughey in the undressed role he's been preparing his whole life for, you've got glimpses of the supporting strippers like Alex Pettyfer and Joe Manganiello, and you've got some buzzkill girls who basically wander into this movie to say, "Waaah waaah, don't strip, do you really want...

The 1996 film Foxfire was based on a novel by best-selling author Joyce Carol Oates. Though the film had no outright lesbian content, it was very much about the relationships between the young women, and their love for one another surpassed friendship, bringing them to a point of commitment secured by tattoos and general bad-assery. Bonded by their rebelling against a predatory teacher, they found one another to be a safe haven from the judgmental high school halls.
So whatever happened to those girls who ran with foxes?
Hedy Burress (Maddy, the photographer who hates her teacher)
Since Foxfire, Hedy has largely worked in television, notably in her roles as Joanie Moore on ER and as Laurie Cooper on Southland. She also does a lot of voiceover work for video games, including Final Fantasy and Terminator Salvation.

Dirty Sexy Things photographer Perou has blasted the Next Top Model series as "turgid". Perou, whose E4 show focuses on the lives of a handful of real-life models, described Elle Macpherson's Sky Living reality programme as "nonsense". He also claimed that he had snubbed an offer to be on the judging panel for Britain's Next Top Model. "I think the Next Top Model shows are turgid. I turned it down. I said no," Perou told Digital Spy. "I find it a nonsense. Having said that I turned down Next Top Model, I did do Make Me A Supermodel, which was in the UK and in the States. But I couldn't do any more of those shows because they are a nonsense." He continued: "The talent pool for those shows is so small because if you were good enough to be a model, you would (more)...

Have an entertainment-related question? Contact me here (and be sure and include your city and state and/or country!)
Q: Unrelated to Tracy Morgan's comedy debacle, in which his "jokes" were obviously not even jokes but just ignorant, offensive statements, I've been thinking, "When is a gay joke tasteful?" and conversely, "When is a gay joke offensive?"
This question was prompted when I was hanging out with some friends and someone said, "How do you get four gay guys to fit on a footstool?" to which the answer was, "Flip it upside down." While I initially thought it was funny, I began to think that it might be distasteful. It's very common for the columns on this site to condemn certain people's attempts at gay humor while exalting others. I just was hoping there'd be some easily...

Can I ask a serious question? How come, in an era of explicit online pornography, a hot bare bum or passionate gay sex scene in a mainstream movie or TV show still has the ability to drive us so wild? Is it the principle of "less is more" — because they don't show us everything, what we do see is that much more exciting? Or does it have something to do with the fact that we're seeing celebrity flesh, which is the ultimate forbidden fruit?
Whatever the reason, it does drive us wild.
When it comes to male nudity, as well as gay sex in the movies and on TV, gay and bisexual male viewers have waiting a looooong time for anything approaching equal time between naked female and male actors. Clearly, straight male producers and directors have been calling the shots for far too long.

Gale Harold recently sat down with Rage to reflect on his time on Queer As Folk. He seems to have a profound respect for the role, and for his character. It’s a moment where Brian is so alone. He actually gets to jack into someone in a way that’s just about love, you know? It's not every day that a reality television star actually admits he wants us to see him naked. Remember Ronnie Kroell, the openly gay runner-up on season one of Make Me a Supermodel, the Bravo runway competition show hosted by Tyson? Well, Ronnie doesn't have a sex tape, but... The Chicago-born piece of hotness, who was crowned fan favorite during his run on Supermodel, is on the June cover of Playgirl. And we're happy to report that he's not shy! Last night, I sat down to watch America's Next Top Model and wondered, as I do almost every Wednesday, whether I had tuned in for a modeling competition show or America's Next Top Fight. (S14E02) We continue 'America's Next Top Model' from last week's photoshoot cliffhanger. The nude photoshoot goes off without much of a hitch about religious morals or modesty. Either way, the shoot was borrowed from a challenge on 'Make Me a Supermodel' which had the same exact concept. The second photoshoot continues to stretch the definition of what a beauty shot is. Beauty shots should be zoomed in even closer than what we saw.
We saw the new and improved opening sequence; it's going to take me a while to get adjusted to it. It's still Tyra-centric and now with a 70s/funk vibe. Supermodel Tyson Beckford is quitting the catwalk to concentrate on acting.
Beckford claims there's no money left in modelling, so he plans to focus on his role hosting TV show Make Me A Supermodel - and expand his movie resume.
The 39 year old, who has appeared in a string of minor film roles, tells the New York Post, "I'm done with fashion. No one is getting those $1 million contracts right now. I want to concentrate on movies and other projects."...

After a one-week break, "Cougar Town" returns Wednesday (Dec. 9) with guest star Scott Foley in tow. Playing a potential love interest for Jules (Courteney Cox), Foley's character will have a bit of competition from some rich client of hers. But he has no idea how complicated the Jules situation is with the added headache of both Grayson (Josh Hopkins) and Bobby (Brian Van Holt)...
Sure, Grayson is just Jules' neighbor across the street and Bobby is her ex-husband, but as Brian Van Holt told Korbi TV when we sat down for a few drinks together, there are still feelings there and they will be explored.
In fact, those feelings will get even more complicated when Ms. Lisa Kudrow, of "Friends" fame, comes aboard to play Bobby's new lady. Van Holt describes Kudrow's character as a "bitch on wheels," but I guess Bobby's way into that.

Endemol has acquired British production companies Tiger Aspect, Darlow Smithson and Darlow Smithson's Tigress from Img.
The pact, said to be in the neighborhood of $50 million, comes a month after global sports and modeling agency/entertainment company Img Worldwide announced that it was looking at potentially offloading Tiger Aspect and Darlow Smithson.
The move is part of Endemol's aggressive acquisition strategy of the past couple of years that has expanded the company's entertainment portfolio.
Tiger Aspect was arguably the top entertainment property under Igm's umbrella. The company, one of the U.K.'s best-known producers, is behind such hits as "Billy Elliot" and kids animation "Charlie and Lola," as well as comedy "Diary of a Call Girl," which ran on Showtime, dramas "Robin Hood" and "Vicar of Dibley" and reality series "Make Me a Supermodel" for Bravo and "Cook Yourself Thin" for Lifetime.

You guys watching “The League” on FX? The half hour comedy following “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” on Thursdays? The one about a bunch of friends and their fantasy football league?
If not, you should definitely start.
Following five really funny dudes, a few of their wives and a coveted trophy that is kept by the winner of their fantasy league each year, football is merely the backdrop of the drama (and the funny) on this series.
So if you’re into the game, you’ll appreciate the few solid references they drop throughout an episode. But if you’re not, you can still get into what’s going on. Because at the end of the day, it’s really the human drama that runs the show. Just like “Friday Night Lights”… the only difference is that you probably won’t hear any “finger up the b-tt” jokes on “Fnl” anytime soon,...

GLAAD has found the main gays on TV.
Today GLAAD released their 14th Annual Diversity report, previewing the 2009-2010 television season. Using a slightly different methodology than their recent post-mortem, the Network Responsibility Index on representation released over the summer, it paints a mixed picture of what Glbt viewers can expect when they turn on their televisions this fall.
For the purposes of this study, GLAAD breaks down television into broadcast, cable, reality and animation. Then the 600 characters on primetime are broken down further into six primary groups: Drama Lead/Supporting, Drama Recurring, Comedy Lead/Supporting, Comedy Recurring, Animated, and Reality.
This differs from their other report which tracked appearances across aired hours by simply tracking the character’s future existence.
GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios
The short summary is that broadcast networks are gaining representation, but that cable actually took a major hit on the number of characters, largely due...

It’s here! It only took us 38 episodes, 17 weeks and one Tatiana del Toro, but the “American Idol” finale is just moments away!
Tonight I’m live-blogging from the actual honest-to-Gokey “American Idol” finale - but don’t get too excited. I’m not in the auditorium with the judges and the random celebrity guests and the Seacrest. I’m in a “press viewing party” in the basement of the Nokia Theatre, squeezed in between other (sweaty) media outlets and watching the show on a monitor. This is the glamorous underbelly of showbiz, folks, and taking a look around the room, I’d say put the emphasis on belly.
For those of you who need to get caught up to speed on tonight’s proceedings, it’s Battle Royale between Adam Lambert, a theatrical screaming banshee who revitalized the aging competition with a unique style and a coy/savvy depiction of his sexuality,...

It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it. Because the AfterElton Hot 100 has a limited number of winners (I think it's 100) there are going to be some hunks that don't make the cut.
We're not saying these men don't deserve to be on the list, but they just didn't garner enough votes this time. Take a look if you want to be shocked, and possibly outraged, but for heaven's sake ... don't kill the messenger!
Ryan Kwanten. This one hurts. The poor guy gets naked every week for your enjoyment and you can't reward him with a spot on the list? For shame!
Shia Labeouf. How many summer blockbusters does he have to star in to get some recognition?
Daniel Radcliffe. After all the jokes about showing his wizard wand, he still couldn't get enough votes?
Tyson Beckford. Anyone who can survive this current disastrous season of Make Me A Supermodel...

Tyson Beckford just doesn’t think Lindsay Lohan has what it takes to be a model. And he’s not afraid to let her know! Male supermodel Tyson Beckford has slammed the media for using celebrities in high fashion campaigns instead of models - insisting actors aren't beautiful enough to naturally look good in glossy print.
The Make Me A Supermodel host isn't impressed with the current trend for movie and TV stars to land advertising deals or grace the covers of glossy magazines.
But the hunk believes the fashion industry will come full circle - when they get sick of retouching the images of less-than-perfect stars.
He says, "You have to do a lot of tweaking and airbrushing to get the same from a celebrity that you would get from a model. A lot of celebrities - I'm gonna tell you right now - they're not 5'11"; they're not a size two to fit into these designer dresses, but the designers want exposure so they're willing to make the specific dress for that actor or actress to get them to look good on the cover."
"It'll all come back around. One day some designer will wake up and say, 'You know what? I don't want to use Gwyneth Paltrow. I want to use Adriana Lima, I want to use Gisele (Bundchen), I want to go back to the high fashion.' I think slowly but surely you'll see that start happening."...

Supermodel Niki Taylor has probably been on the cover of every woman's magazine more than once but she's getting ready to fill shoes that she hasn't modeled in 14 years: new mom.
The 33-year-old beauty is expecting a new arrival in March, her third child but first with husband and Nascar driver Burney Lamar, who she married in December of 2006. "I'm so excited. It's been a long time. It's like starting all over." Her twins, Hunter and Jake, are now 14 years old. Taylor also said that she doesn't see herself relegating the twins to much babysitting duty. "I'm only having one this time so I want him all to myself," she said, flashing her famous smile.
She already knows the sex of the baby, though she won't reveal it, and left the name-picking to Lamar. "That's my husband's job. I know the name too but I don't want to say anything yet,...

Survivor is no stranger to the gays. The mother of all reality competition shows has even had two openly gay million-dollar winners: Richard Hatch in Season One and Todd Herzog in China. Just when we thought we'd seen it all, however, Survivor surprised us with a sweet hobromance -- a word we coined here at AfterElton.com to describe a close non-sexual friendship between a gay man and a straight man. Think Bronnie from Make Me A Supermodel.
Straight doctor Marcus Lehman and gay lawyer Charlie Herschel had an alliance from day one, but that wasn't all Charlie had. He also had a huge, obvious crush on his straight pal. The kicker was that Marcus was so completely comfortable with Charlie's affections.
Now, we don't want to fawn over the straight boy for being nice to the gay boy, but let's face...

Last week on Make Me A Supermodel, Shannon Pallay found herself in the bottom two for the first time all season. The other model up for vote, Ronnie Kroell, is old hat with the elimination ceremony, as this is his fourth time appealing to America's heartstrings.
On the morning of the elimination, Shannon and Ronnie get up and pack. Shannon thinks that she has more of a right to stay in the competition because this is only her first time in the bottom. Downstairs, the girls discover that the boys have turned their photos around to face the wall, which only fuels both of their desires to stay. The battle of the sexes is most certainly heating up.

Last week's Make Me A Supermodel saw the second all-male bottom three in a row. What's going on, men? Casey Skinner, Ben DiChiara and Ronnie Kroell put their fates in the hands of America, and tonight we will see which must immediately end his quest toward becoming a supermodel. Casey has not proven to the judges yet that he has the confidence and poise to become the next Tyson Beckford. Ben has not yet let go of his fish-out-of-water attitude and has continued to have lackluster performances. Ronnie, however, is probably the most talented model of the three, but this far into the competition, even the slightest slip-up could cost him. Who will be going home next?
The bottom three present themselves before Tyson, Niki Taylor, Cory Bautista and Jennifer Starr. Ronnie is safe, and now it is between Casey, who is again wearing his crazy tailed jacket with the gold epaulets and Ben.

Last week on Make Me A Supermodel, Niki Taylor and Tyson Beckford put Ben DiChiara, Casey Skinner and Frankie Godoy up for the vote. Ben has been continually disappointing the judges with his lack of self-confidence. Casey, too, faltered in the runway show on last week's Make Me A Supermodel, performing only two instead of the required three poses on the spinning turntable. Frankie also had a bad week last week, performing the worst at the snowy photoshoot at the Windham Mountain Ski Resort. This is the first all-male bottom three, perhaps in an attempt by the producers to even out the boy/girl ratio on the house. But the Bravo promo guy assures us that the battle of the sexes has only just begun!
It's elimination time. The three boys appear before the judges to hear their verdict. Ben and Casey are safe, but Frankie cannot be made into a supermodel.
